Find the Tourist, trade an endangered catch for the Carrot, then use it as bait to summon the fight. Keep moving, attack from range, steer clear of the later poison hazard, and keep the Pufferfish Fin after the win to advance.
Where to Find the Pufferfish Boss
Travel to Desert Island, commonly identified as Island 3. The Pufferfish follows earlier boss progression there. Island numbering and the name of the next destination vary among guides, so follow the destination label shown in your game rather than relying on a number alone. PC Gamer’s guide and other walkthroughs describe the Tourist as being under or beside a tree.

What You Need to Summon It
- Catch an endangered fish. Use the Standard Lure and look for the endangered status marker. Needlefish and Seahorse are named examples; Bowlfish is also listed by one guide. These are examples, not a confirmed complete list. GameLeap’s guide and TheGamer’s guide identify qualifying catches.
- Trade it to the Tourist. Give the Tourist the qualifying catch to receive the Carrot, which some guides call the Carrot Lure.
- Use the Carrot as bait. Equip or use it, then fish to trigger the boss encounter.
An ordinary catch is not enough if it lacks the endangered marker. Complete the trade before trying to summon the boss.
How to Beat the Pufferfish Boss
The Pufferfish grows as the fight progresses and attacks with committed rolling charges. Guides also describe a purple poison cloud or trail appearing later. Exact phase timing and damage values are not established, so focus on reading the attack and keeping an escape route open.

Keep moving while firing
Do not stand still to shoot. Move laterally or circle the arena while using a ranged weapon, so a charge is less likely to run directly through you. PC Gamer recommends running and firing; its author reports succeeding with an upgraded SMG, but that is one guide author’s setup, not a required weapon.
Use terrain without cornering yourself
Trees and other terrain can help shape the boss’s approach and give you room to reposition. Circle around obstacles rather than backing into them, and preserve an open route for dodging the next charge. Gamepur’s guide also recommends using terrain to maintain distance.

Route around the poison
When the purple hazard appears, avoid crossing it. Move around its edge and keep clear space between you and the boss so you can evade another charge without being funneled into the hazard.
Heal when needed
Cooked fish is suggested as healing for this encounter. Bring some if available and use it after taking damage when you have a safe opening; no verified minimum quantity is established. TheGamer’s walkthrough recommends carrying cooked fish.

How to Prepare
- Finish the Tourist’s endangered-fish trade and obtain the Carrot before the encounter.
- Bring a ranged weapon you can use while moving. Guides mention SMG or Uzi options and upgrades, but no weapon is established as mandatory or best.
- Carry cooked fish if you have it available for healing.
- Before triggering the boss, check that nearby terrain does not block your movement route.
What to Do After the Fight
Collect the Pufferfish Fin and return it to the Tourist, or follow the progression prompt shown in-game. Guides connect the fin with the next island’s coordinates or unlock. Because guides differ on the next island’s name and number, use the game’s displayed destination.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Weapon Choice: What the Guides Establish
SMG and Uzi setups are recommendations, not proof of a best-in-slot weapon. Choose a ranged option you can fire without giving up mobility. In practical terms, consider whether you can keep distance, how much reload downtime it creates, and whether you already have it upgraded; the available guides do not provide controlled damage, cost, or performance comparisons.
