The safest way to protect a NASync DXP6800 Ultra is to keep a copy outside the unit and to choose a task that matches your recovery goal. Use Sync & Backup to synchronize with another UGREEN NAS, use Back up & Restore with rsync or WebDAV for a compatible third-party NAS or server, and use Cloud Drives for supported cloud accounts and object storage. Treat ordinary synchronization as a live mirror: deletions and other changes can propagate. For protection against accidental deletion or ransomware, enable retained backup versions where the workflow supports them, use cloud or destination version history, and test a restore.
Choose between synchronization and backup first
UGREEN exposes synchronization and backup as separate functions. Synchronization keeps selected paths aligned between endpoints; backup is a one-way protection workflow that can retain historical versions. They can be used together, but a sync task is not automatically a historical backup.

| Route | Best for | What you need | Main recovery limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Another UGREEN NAS through Sync & Backup | A second UGREEN unit and straightforward device-to-device replication | The destination must run UGOS Pro with Sync and Backup installed; both devices need network reachability | It is primarily a synchronization operation. Review direction, conflicts and deletion behavior before relying on it for history |
| Remote rsync or WebDAV backup | A compatible third-party NAS, Linux server or other remote endpoint | Rsync or WebDAV enabled on the destination, an account, address, credentials and reachable ports | UGREEN encrypts remote backup files by default; their contents are viewed after restoring them to a UGREEN NAS |
| Cloud Drives | An off-site copy in a supported account or object-storage service | Cloud Drives installed, a provider account or access keys, network access and selected source and destination paths | Cloud synchronization can mirror deletions. Provider versioning or deleted-file recovery must supply the historical safety net |
Use a second NAS when you want fast local recovery and control over the storage hardware. Use an off-site cloud or remote server when a fire, theft, power event or other local incident could affect both the primary NAS and a nearby copy. A robust plan can combine both: a local destination for frequent restores and an off-site destination with retention.

Check destination capacity and access
- Calculate the data set to be protected, plus space for future growth and retained versions. Every retained backup version consumes additional destination storage.
- Create a destination account with only the permissions required for the intended folder when the remote platform supports restricted accounts.
- Verify that the destination is reachable from the DXP6800 Ultra. A local address, VPN route, firewall rule, router mapping or cloud credential can each be a separate dependency.
- Keep recovery credentials, encryption information and administrative access in a secure password manager. A backup that cannot be opened during an incident is not a usable backup.
UGREEN describes the DXP6800 Ultra as a six-bay NAS with six SATA bays and two M.2 NVMe bays, and states a maximum capacity of 208 TB on its product page. That hardware figure describes the unit, not the size or suitability of a backup target. The destination still needs enough free space for the selected data and any version policy.
Route A: synchronize with another UGREEN NAS
This is the most direct native route when the second device also runs UGOS Pro. The remote unit must have Sync and Backup installed. UGREEN documents real-time, manual and scheduled strategies.
1. Prepare the destination NAS
- Install or update UGOS Pro, Sync and Backup on the second UGREEN NAS.
- Sign in with an account that can write to the destination folder. Create a dedicated destination folder rather than pointing a task at the entire volume unless that is genuinely required.
- Note the destination IP address or UGREENlink ID. For a domain-name connection, verify the app-version and port requirements described below.
2. Create the task on the DXP6800 Ultra
- Open Sync & Backup.
- Create a new sync task and choose Sync another UGREEN NAS.
- Enter the destination IP address, UGREENlink ID or supported domain name, then provide the credentials requested by the interface.
- Select the source folders on the DXP6800 Ultra and the remote destination paths.
- Choose real-time, manual or scheduled synchronization. Real-time mode reduces replication delay but depends continuously on the network. A schedule or manual run makes the transfer window explicit and can reduce overnight network activity.
- Review direction, conflict handling and deletion behavior before saving. Confirm which side is authoritative and what happens when the same file changes at both ends.
- Save the task and run a small test containing ordinary files, a large file and a recently changed file.
3. Connect across networks
For a remote UGREEN NAS, UGREEN documents UGREENlink ID as a connection method. It also documents domain-name connections with prerequisites: Sync and Backup must be version V1.1.2.0649 or higher on both devices, and port 22000 must be mapped. Confirm the exact firewall and router configuration for your network rather than exposing more services than necessary.
If a connection fails, test name resolution and reachability from the DXP6800 Ultra, check that the destination account is permitted to write to the selected path, and inspect the task log for authentication, timeout or permission errors.

When synchronization is not enough
A mirrored sync can transmit a deletion or an unwanted overwrite. If the source is encrypted by malware or a user removes a folder, the same change may appear on the destination. Do not make a plain mirrored sync your only protection when older states matter. Add a separate versioned backup, enable retention on the destination where available, or use another off-site copy with its own history.
Route B: back up to a third-party NAS or server with rsync or WebDAV
Use this route when the destination is not another UGREEN NAS but provides a supported rsync or WebDAV service. Compatibility depends on the destination product and its configuration; the service must be enabled and reachable before the DXP6800 Ultra can create a task.
1. Enable and restrict the remote service
- On the destination, enable either an rsync server or WebDAV.
- Create an account whose access is limited to the intended backup directory when possible.
- Record the server address, port, username, password and remote path. Confirm whether the server requires a particular TLS or authentication mode.
- Test reachability from the network where the DXP6800 Ultra resides. A service that works from a desktop on the local LAN may still be blocked from the NAS by a firewall or routing rule.
2. Configure Back up & Restore
- On the DXP6800 Ultra, open Sync & Backup and then Back up & Restore.
- Create a task named Backup this UGREEN NAS.
- Select rsync or WebDAV as the destination protocol.
- Enter the destination address and credentials, and set the protocol and port. UGREEN lists rsync’s default port as 873. Its WebDAV defaults are HTTP 5005 and HTTPS 5006; the actual server may use different settings.
- Select the source folders and the remote destination path.
- Configure file filters and the backup version policy if the interface offers them. Retention increases recovery options but consumes additional destination capacity.
- Review the summary, create the task and run it. Start with a small folder so that authentication, permissions and path mapping are proven before transferring the full data set.
3. Understand encryption and restoration
UGREEN states that remote backup files are encrypted by default. The protected contents are viewed after restoring them to a UGREEN NAS through the UGREEN restore workflow, rather than by browsing the remote files as an ordinary directory. Keep the information needed to perform that restore with your disaster-recovery records.
When a backup version policy is enabled, historical versions are stored at the destination. Each additional version uses more remote storage, so set a retention limit that fits the destination and the rate at which your files change. A short retention window may be sufficient for documents, while frequently changing project data may need a larger allowance.
Prefer secure transport
WebDAV over HTTPS is preferable to unencrypted HTTP when traffic crosses an untrusted network. For rsync, use the secure transport or tunnel supported by the destination if available. Strong credentials, least-privilege accounts and firewall restrictions reduce the impact of a stolen password or exposed service.

Route C: copy or synchronize to cloud storage with Cloud Drives
Cloud Drives can connect supported cloud accounts and object-storage services, transfer files and create synchronization tasks. The exact providers and task types shown depend on the installed Cloud Drives version. UGREEN’s documentation distinguishes services that can be connected or mounted from services that can be used in a synchronization task, so do not assume that every listed provider supports scheduled, one-way backup semantics.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →1. Add the cloud destination
- Open App Center and install or update Cloud Drives.
- Add the provider shown in your installed version. Depending on the service, you may enter an account login, bucket name, region, Key ID and application key.
- Grant only the cloud permissions required for the selected bucket or directory.
- Confirm that the DXP6800 Ultra can reach the provider and that the destination has enough capacity.
2. Select a one-way workflow
- Choose the NAS source path and cloud destination path.
- Select the available NAS-to-cloud transfer or one-way synchronization workflow.
- Avoid two-way synchronization for a simple off-site copy when changes made in the cloud must not propagate back to the NAS.
- Set filters, scheduling and any polling or comparison options offered by the app.
- Run a small test, inspect the log and restore sample files before committing the entire NAS.
Backblaze B2 and Amazon S3 support
UGREEN’s June 2026 system update notes add Backblaze B2 support to Cloud Drives for the DXP Series, whose x86 family includes the DXP6800 Ultra. The B2 setup guide describes entering a bucket name, Key ID and application key, then transferring files or creating a sync task.
UGREEN’s May 2026 update notes add Amazon S3 support to Cloud Drives for the DXP Series. S3-compatible services commonly require a bucket, region and access keys, but the fields and supported operations should be confirmed in the installed app. Provider support and task behavior can change independently of the NAS hardware.
Deletion, versions and polling
Cloud sync is a continuing relationship, not a frozen snapshot. UGREEN warns that changes, including deletions, can be reflected across sync endpoints. Enable provider-side object versioning, file history or deleted-file recovery where available, and define a retention period that covers the time in which an accidental deletion could be discovered.
UGREEN also notes that real-time sync may miss changes during network fluctuations. Cloud Drives describes a polling-period setting that periodically compares file lists; enabling polling can affect drive-sleep behavior. If completeness is more important than immediate replication, choose a comparison interval that gives the NAS time to reconnect and reconcile changes, then verify the resulting logs.

Build a recoverable backup policy
Use separate failure domains
A second NAS in the same room protects against a disk failure but not necessarily theft, fire or a power event affecting the room. An off-site cloud or remote server addresses different risks. Keep at least one copy outside the physical location of the DXP6800 Ultra when the data is difficult or impossible to recreate.
Separate live mirrors from historical copies
Use synchronization for operational replication when you want current files available elsewhere. Use versioned backup or destination history when you need to return to an earlier state. Document which task provides each function so that an operator does not mistake a live mirror for an archive.
Protect the backup control plane
- Use unique credentials for each destination and limit them to the required path.
- Restrict inbound ports with firewall rules or a private network path where practical.
- Store cloud keys and restore information securely, and rotate them according to your security policy.
- Keep the destination account separate from everyday user accounts so a compromised workstation does not automatically control both copies.
Verify the first run and test recovery
A task showing completed is not proof that your files can be recovered. Verification should be part of setup, not an emergency procedure.
- Check the task log for skipped files, permission errors, authentication failures and network interruptions.
- Compare representative file names, sizes and timestamps at the destination. Include nested folders, large files and files with non-ASCII characters if those are part of your data.
- Restore several files to a separate test directory. For remote UGREEN backups, perform the restore through a UGREEN NAS because the backup files are encrypted by default.
- Open restored documents, photos, archives and application exports rather than checking only that they exist.
- Test an older version or deleted-file recovery path if you enabled retention or cloud history.
- Record the task name, destination, schedule, retention, credentials owner and restore procedure. Re-run the test after major firmware, app or destination changes.
Troubleshooting common failures
The other UGREEN NAS is not discovered
Confirm that Sync and Backup is installed on both devices, that the account credentials are valid and that the addresses are reachable from the DXP6800 Ultra. Across networks, verify UGREENlink configuration or the documented domain prerequisites, including version V1.1.2.0649 or newer on both devices and port 22000 mapping. Check router and firewall logs for blocked traffic.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRsync or WebDAV authentication fails
Re-enter the account and password, check whether the server expects HTTP or HTTPS, and confirm the port. Start with the destination’s documented defaults of rsync 873, WebDAV HTTP 5005 or WebDAV HTTPS 5006, then replace them with the actual server settings if they differ. Verify that the account can write to the selected directory and that the path is expressed in the form expected by that server.

The task completes but files are missing
Inspect filters, excluded folders and the task log. A real-time cloud task may have encountered a network fluctuation; run a comparison or polling cycle if available. Confirm that the cloud task is transferring the intended source path rather than merely mounting a provider account. For large jobs, allow the initial run to finish before judging the steady-state result.
Storage fills faster than expected
Review retained backup versions, cloud object versions and deleted-file recovery. Historical copies intentionally consume space. Reduce retention only after deciding how far back you must recover, and account for future data growth before setting a new limit.
A restore cannot open the data
Use the documented UGREEN restore workflow for encrypted remote backups, confirm that the destination is complete and check that the required restore credentials or keys are available. Test a different file and review logs for a partial transfer. Do not delete the original backup set until a representative restore has succeeded.

Current DXP6800 Ultra support context
The DXP6800 Ultra is listed in UGREEN’s DXP product lineup. The model-specific listing at the time of the cited firmware release showed UGOS Pro 1.20.0.0142, while the product page states six SATA bays, two M.2 NVMe bays and a maximum capacity of 208 TB. Those specifications describe the primary appliance; they do not determine how much backup history a destination can retain.
Cloud Drives provider support is version-dependent. UGREEN’s general guide, update notes and dedicated tutorials enumerate providers and task types differently. Confirm the exact provider, transfer mode, schedule and retention controls visible in the Cloud Drives version installed on your NAS before designing a policy around them.
