How to avoid losing your gear during Gray Zone Warfare smuggling runs: as of October 4, 2026, there is no confirmed run-specific method, because Rogue Ops has not launched and its death, extraction, and gear-recovery rules have not been published. MADFINGER Games has scheduled the Supporter Preview for October 19 and the Rogue Ops launch for October 22, 2026. Until the rules are confirmed in the preview or launch build, treat any specific smuggling loadout or recovery advice as unverified.
What is confirmed about smuggling runs?
Rogue Ops is the announced Update 0.5 activity that will let players take part in new smuggling activities. The teaser describes a new gameplay loop centered on crafting and building a Hideout, but it does not explain what happens to gear during an individual run. As of October 4, 2026, the announcement does not establish whether carried gear is lost on death, coma, disconnection, or failed extraction; whether a body can be looted or gear reclaimed; or what an extraction requires. It also does not confirm whether existing tracking tags or ordinary durability rules apply to smuggling.
What can you do before the rules are clear?
Use the announced preview and launch to verify the mechanics before risking valuable equipment. The following are questions to check in the game, not confirmed rules or procedures:
#1 Best Overall
- New Pointstreak system that rewards players both for landing kills and completing objectives
- Weapons proficiency system that allows you to customize your favorite weapons, making them more effiecent in any map or mode
- Online/offline 2-player co-op Special Ops Survival mode that earns you experience through 16 frantic objective-based missions
- New play modes, including: Kill Confirmed mode, Team Defender mode and user generated match modes
- Integration with 'Call of Duty: Elite,' an online multiplayer oriented service launched simultaneously with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- Does smuggling use a separate character or loadout, or your ordinary character and locker?
- What happens to carried gear after death, coma, disconnection, or an extraction failure?
- Can you return to a body or otherwise reclaim gear lost during a run?
- Do tracking tags work in smuggling, and, if so, how long do they last?
- What are the extraction requirements and failure conditions?
- Do the ordinary Warfare durability rules apply to equipment in this mode?
Check current in-game instructions and official update notes rather than assuming that familiar Warfare routines transfer to the new activity. Update 0.4 was described as bringing a revamped loot system and redesigned tactical map, so older route and loot advice may not match the current build. MADFINGER Games’ Update 0.4 announcement.
Can tracking tags help you find lost gear?
An earlier official Update 0.3 changelog documents tags bought from vendors and attached to weapons or gear. Tagged items can be located on the map, and a player carrying looted tagged equipment can be tracked until the tag expires. That is a general game feature documented in Update 0.3—not confirmation that tags function during Rogue Ops smuggling runs. See the Update 0.3 changelog.
Does dying damage gear?
The same Update 0.3 changelog says death and coma no longer cause durability loss; use and, more substantially, bullet hits affect weapon durability. This does not answer whether equipment is retained after death, and it should not be treated as a confirmed Rogue Ops rule. Check the preview or launch-build notes for mode-specific behavior.

Is the soft wipe the same as losing gear on a run?
No. MADFINGER Games announced a soft wipe alongside Update 0.5: players coming from Update 0.4 keep rank, unlocked apparel, vendor levels, and completed tasks, while their locker and money are wiped. That is a progression reset, not a description of what happens to equipment during a single smuggling run. The announcement does not specify in-run retention or recovery. When can players verify the rules?
MADFINGER Games’ announced schedule is a Supporter Preview on October 19, 2026, followed by Rogue Ops launch on October 22, 2026. The preview is the first announced opportunity to check the new loop directly; launch-build behavior should be checked against current official notes rather than inferred from the teaser. The dates are announced schedule, not proof that the events have already taken place.
