You can automatically announce a Twitch stream on X using IFTTT, or set up a YouTube live-stream trigger in Zapier and connect it to an X posting action if that action is available in your account. These services check for events periodically, so the post may appear after your broadcast starts—not at the exact moment you go live.
Automatically post on X when a Twitch stream starts
IFTTT documents a direct Twitch-to-X workflow: Twitch’s New stream started by you trigger starts an X Post a tweet action. X now generally calls these messages posts, but IFTTT’s action label still uses “tweet.”

- Open IFTTT’s Twitch-to-X integration. Choose a ready-made Applet or create a custom one.
- Connect your accounts. Authorize the Twitch account that starts the broadcast and the X account that should publish the announcement. Review the permissions requested during connection.
- Choose the Twitch trigger. Select New stream started by you. IFTTT lists trigger details such as the channel name, stream title, game, channel URL, preview image and start time.
- Choose the X action. Select Post a tweet or, if you want an image, Post a tweet with image. Write a short announcement and include the channel URL, for example: “I’m live: [stream title] — watch here: [channel URL].” Replace the bracketed text with the relevant details.
- Review and enable the Applet. Check that the correct accounts, trigger and post text are selected before turning it on. After your next broadcast, check IFTTT’s activity or execution history if no post appears.
How long does an IFTTT announcement take?
IFTTT describes its Twitch trigger as polling rather than an instant push. Its integration documentation accessed on 2026-10-03 states that checks occur every five minutes for Pro and Pro+ users and every hour for Free users. Those are polling frequencies, not guaranteed post-delivery times; the actual delay can vary.

Use Zapier for Twitch or YouTube live-stream triggers
Zapier documents a Twitch trigger called New Live Stream by Streamer and a YouTube trigger called New Live Stream. For YouTube, the trigger can fire when a live stream is created or becomes active for a specified channel. In either case, you need to confirm that an X posting action is available in your connected Zapier account before depending on the workflow.
- Start a workflow in Zapier and select Twitch or YouTube as the trigger app.
- Choose the live-stream trigger. For Twitch, select New Live Stream by Streamer. For YouTube, select New Live Stream and provide the required channel ID.
- Connect and authorize the channel account. Follow the account-connection prompts. Zapier’s YouTube integration uses YouTube API Services.
- Add an X posting action if your account offers it. Confirm the action in the workflow builder, then draft a concise announcement with the external stream URL. The documented YouTube trigger does not establish that every account has an X action available.
- Review the workflow and verify it safely. Use the test or verification procedure supported by your builder, or check the workflow history after a low-stakes scheduled broadcast, before relying on it for an important event.
Zapier’s integration pages accessed on 2026-10-03 state that its Free plan checks the Twitch and YouTube live-stream triggers every 15 minutes. That interval is the polling frequency, not a promise that a post will appear within exactly 15 minutes.

Choose based on your streaming platform, the delay you can tolerate, whether the X action is offered to your account, and whether the post needs a link or image. Integration availability, authorization and plan limits can change, so check the current workflow builder before relying on a setup.
What if you stream on YouTube?
Zapier’s documented YouTube New Live Stream trigger is the clearest sourced route here for detecting that a YouTube broadcast was created or became active. Its documentation establishes the trigger and channel ID requirement, but not that every connected Zapier account can post to X. Confirm the destination action in your own builder.

IFTTT’s YouTube integration listings include a New video by channel trigger described as firing when a channel publishes a video, Short or starts a livestream. Those listings do not provide enough setup detail to promise a precise YouTube-go-live-to-X announcement flow. YouTube’s IFTTT guidance focuses on Super Chat and membership-triggered interactions rather than establishing a general go-live announcement recipe.
How an X live post differs from announcing an external stream
X’s automatic post behavior applies when you broadcast live on X itself. If your video is hosted on Twitch or YouTube, that X-native behavior does not announce the external stream for you; use a cross-service workflow that detects the stream and posts its link.

Troubleshoot a missing or delayed announcement
- The post has not appeared yet: Allow for the documented polling interval, then check the automation’s activity or execution history for whether the trigger ran.
- The trigger did not fire: Verify that the connected Twitch or YouTube account is the channel that actually started the stream, and review the selected trigger and account authorization.
- The workflow detects YouTube but does not post to X: Check whether an X posting action is available and connected in your Zapier account. A documented trigger alone does not confirm destination-action availability.
- IFTTT reports an action error: Remove any affiliate URL from the X post text; IFTTT says those URLs are unsupported in the action.
- The announcement is later than expected: Polling is not instant delivery. Check the plan’s stated polling cadence and the workflow’s execution history rather than assuming the stream-start event was missed.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep uploaded video playing as a YouTube live stream 24/7, rather than to announce a camera-based Twitch broadcast, StreamNeo is a separate option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. StreamNeo is for YouTube and uploaded videos; it does not broadcast a camera feed.
