You can automate a website screenshot from a Zapier Tables record by triggering a Zap when the record is created or updated, sending its URL to a screenshot provider, then saving the returned screenshot output back to the record. Zapier also publishes a ready-made template that pairs Tables with ScreenshotOne.
What the workflow does
Zapier Tables holds the page URL and the fields you want to update. A Tables trigger starts the Zap; a connected screenshot service captures the page; a final Tables action stores the result. Tables is the record store and trigger—not the screenshot engine.

Zapier describes Tables as records (rows), fields (columns), and cells. Records can be entered manually or added through Zaps. See Zapier’s guide to creating tables and storing data and its Tables quick start guide.
Prepare the table
- Create a table: In Zapier, open Tables and create a table for the pages you want to capture.
- Add a URL field: Create a field for the website address, then add at least one record with a URL you are allowed to capture.
- Add output and status fields: Include a field for the screenshot action’s returned output and, if useful, a status field to track processing. The action may return a file or a link depending on the provider; inspect its test output before choosing the destination field.
Use a stable record identifier in the later update step so the Zap writes the result to the record that triggered it, rather than creating an unrelated row.

Build the Zap
- Choose the Tables trigger: Select the Zapier Tables app and the “New or Updated Record” trigger. The Screenshot API integration also lists a Tables record-button trigger if you prefer a deliberate, manual capture instead of running on record changes. Check the available trigger names in your Zap editor.
- Test the trigger: Pull in a sample record and verify that the URL field is present and contains a complete address.
- Add a screenshot action: Select a connected provider and its website-capture action. Map the record’s URL field to the action’s required URL input.
- Set capture options: Configure only the controls exposed by that provider’s action. Depending on the integration, available fields can include viewport or full-page capture, output format, delay or load behavior, and other page controls. Options differ; do not assume a setting shown for one provider exists in another.
- Test the screenshot step: Run it against the sample record. Inspect whether the output is a file, URL, or another response, and confirm it represents the page and capture area you need.
- Add a Tables action: Choose the action that updates the triggering record, map its record ID from the trigger, and map the screenshot step’s output to the screenshot field. Optionally map a success status as well.
- Test the update, then publish: Confirm the correct record changed and the screenshot output can be opened or used as intended. Publish the Zap only after both the capture and update steps behave as expected.
Choose a screenshot action
Zapier lists these pairings with Tables. Choose based on the action and configuration fields available in your account, then check the live editor for its current inputs and outputs.
| Provider | Listed action | What to verify in the editor |
|---|---|---|
| Screenshot API | “Take Screenshot” | URL mapping, available capture settings, and the type of returned output. |
| HTML to Image | “Convert URL to Image (Screenshot a Website)” | URL mapping, available image and page settings, and the returned output. |
| ScreenshotOne | “Take Website Screenshot” | URL mapping, available capture settings, and the returned output. |
These integration listings establish available actions, not comparative screenshot quality, price, speed, or reliability. For a ready-made starting point, Zapier publishes “Capture website screenshot and update record in Zapier Tables,” using ScreenshotOne. Review its current mappings and action output before adapting it to your own table.
Choose the trigger behavior carefully
Capture on create or update
Use “New or Updated Record” when a screenshot should follow record changes. Consider whether edits to fields unrelated to the URL should trigger another capture; the trigger behavior and any available filtering options in your Zap determine that. Test an update to see which changes start a run.

Capture on demand
The Screenshot API integration listing also identifies a record-button trigger. A button-driven workflow can be a better fit when someone should choose when to capture rather than recapturing after every qualifying record change. Confirm the trigger’s behavior and availability in the editor.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request with a URL returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. It accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; those steps can each be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools for screenshots, page information, and PDF capture.
For a Zapier Webhooks action that can make a GET request, send the URL and your API key as query parameters. The following cURL example shows the same endpoint call; use a Zapier connection or other secure secret-handling method for the key rather than exposing it in a public table.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace the target URL as needed. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response details. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTroubleshooting
- The screenshot step gets no URL: Check that the trigger test record includes the URL field and that it is mapped to the action’s required URL input.
- The update creates or changes the wrong record: Map the triggering record’s ID into the update action. Do not use a value that identifies a different row.
- The screenshot output does not fit the table field: Re-test the action and inspect its actual output. Map the returned file or link to a compatible field rather than assuming all providers return the same format.
- The capture misses content or shows an incomplete page: Review the selected provider’s available delay, load behavior, selector, viewport, and full-page controls. These options vary, and no setting guarantees correct rendering for every dynamic page.
- The Zap runs more often than intended: Check whether the trigger fires on updates to any field or only the changes you expected. Adjust available filters or use an on-demand button trigger where supported.
- The Zap test works but later runs do not: Check the run history for the failing step, confirm the provider connection is still valid, and inspect whether later records have missing or malformed URLs.
Plan for limits and ongoing costs
Zapier lists Tables availability on Free, Professional, Team, and Enterprise plans; that list is not a statement of current record limits or prices. Zapier also says Tables steps in Zaps do not count toward Zap task usage. Confirm your plan’s current limits and any screenshot provider-specific usage charges or limits before publishing a production workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a screenshot run only when someone asks for it?
The Screenshot API integration lists a Tables record-button trigger. Check the live Zap editor to confirm its availability and behavior for your account.
Does Zapier Tables take the screenshot itself?
No. Tables stores records and can trigger the Zap; a connected screenshot provider performs the capture.
