These checks can flag reasons to pause, but they cannot conclusively authenticate an individual watch. G-Shock UK Support says the only accurate way to determine whether a product is counterfeit is to send it to a service centre for assessment.
Start by verifying the exact model and edition claim
Ask for the full model code, the collaboration or edition name, and any claimed production details. Compare those specifics with Casio’s official limited-model lineup or the relevant official model information. A listing may use a genuine model name while making an inaccurate claim about the edition, so check the details rather than relying on a broad label such as “limited edition.”

For example, Casio’s lineup describes the Stranger Things DW-5600STT-1 and the MR-G-B2000KT-3A, which it says is limited to 800 pieces worldwide, each with an individual serial number. That figure is a model-specific claim on Casio’s page; it does not verify that a particular watch offered for sale is one of those genuine pieces.
An official model page establishes that Casio identifies a model or edition. It does not establish that the individual watch in a seller’s photos or possession is authentic.

Check the watch, package, and seller as one evidence set
Compare the offered watch and its included packaging with the edition details the seller claims. Look for inconsistencies between the model identity, the stated collaboration or production details, and what is actually included. A discrepancy is a reason to pause, ask for clarification, or seek an assessment—not proof by itself that the watch is counterfeit.
Review who is selling it and what purchase records are available. Ask for the original sales record where possible, and confirm you can retain dated proof of purchase. Seller identity and documentation help establish provenance and may matter for warranty service, but neither a receipt nor a seller’s reputation is an authentication verdict.

- Confirm the exact model code and edition description.
- Ask for clear views of the watch and the package included with the sale.
- Check that the seller’s description matches the model information and the item shown.
- Ask whether dated proof of purchase is available and whether it will be provided.
- Pause if the seller will not clarify a material inconsistency or provide information needed to assess the claim.
Do not treat a QR code or hologram as proof
Casio’s Web Authenticity Check concerns a QR code or hologram sticker on product packaging. The page describes an estimate of sticker authenticity based on scan trends and explicitly says the result does not necessarily guarantee that the product is genuine. It is general Casio authenticity guidance, not a watch-specific verification procedure. A package sticker result therefore cannot authenticate the G-Shock inside.

Warranty coverage depends on the purchase country and the documentation for that sale. Casio’s US warranty information says the warranty card is valid only for service in the country of purchase, covers the original purchaser for one year from purchase, and requires a receipt or other proof showing the purchase date. Those are US terms; do not assume they apply in another country. Check the warranty terms and service route for the country relevant to your purchase.

G-Shock UK Support’s guidance, updated 10 January 2023, says the only accurate way to tell whether a product is counterfeit is to send it to its service centre for assessment. See its counterfeit-product guidance for the UK route. Service routing can differ by country, so check the appropriate Casio or G-Shock support channel where you live before sending a watch.
Use this route when a high-value purchase or unresolved inconsistency makes a screening check insufficient. Ask the seller whether the watch can be assessed before the sale, or make the purchase contingent on an assessment if the seller agrees. Do not treat community advice or visual heuristics as a substitute for a service-centre assessment.

A practical decision rule before you pay
- Verify the claim: match the model code and edition details to Casio’s official information.
- Inspect consistency: compare the watch, included packaging, and listing description; investigate mismatches instead of guessing what they mean.
- Establish provenance: identify the seller and ask for dated purchase documentation where available.
- Confirm warranty geography: check which country’s terms and service route apply to your purchase.
- Escalate doubts: seek assessment through the appropriate Casio or G-Shock service centre rather than relying on a packaging scan or a seller’s assurance.
If the seller will not provide enough information to check the claim and you cannot arrange an appropriate assessment, treat authenticity as unverified and consider walking away.
