MEXC’s clearest documented cross-chain risk is operational: when a bridge-dependent token’s service is disrupted or under maintenance, the exchange may suspend related deposits and withdrawals. MEXC warns that depositing while the relevant function is suspended may leave assets unrecoverable. That warning concerns exchange support for a particular token and network; it is not evidence that MEXC operates the bridge or an audit of the bridge’s security.
What bridge risk means in an MEXC transfer
A cross-chain transfer depends on more than the bridge. The token or project, the sending and receiving networks, the bridge’s cross-chain functionality, and MEXC’s wallet and deposit service all affect whether assets arrive and are credited. MEXC says bridge disruption or maintenance may temporarily suspend deposits and withdrawals for affected multi-chain tokens; services resume when cross-chain functionality is stable. Wallet maintenance, project upgrades, and project-requested suspensions can also interrupt service. MEXC’s deposits and withdrawals guidance describes these operational conditions, but does not establish that MEXC runs the bridge.

Keep two questions separate: is the bridge design and operation appropriate for the transfer, and is MEXC currently accepting the exact token/network deposit? A technically functioning bridge does not mean MEXC will credit a deposit while its service is suspended. Likewise, an open deposit status does not by itself establish the bridge’s security.

What MEXC’s suspension warning means
MEXC’s help page warns: “Depositing such tokens during this period may result in unrecoverable or permanently lost assets.” The context is a period when deposits for certain tokens are temporarily disabled. Treat a closed or abnormal deposit status as a stop signal, not as a temporary inconvenience that can be fixed later. Do not send until the exact route is supported and deposits are open.

MEXC says an alternative network may sometimes be available during maintenance. That does not make networks interchangeable: verify the exact asset and network at both ends, and use an alternative only if the destination explicitly supports that token/network pair.
Pre-transfer checks
- Identify the exact asset and route. Confirm the token, sending network, receiving network, transfer direction, and destination address requirements. A matching token name alone does not establish that two network versions are interchangeable.
- Check MEXC’s live status for the precise pair. Use its token status page to search for the token and inspect the relevant network; MEXC also provides an abnormal-networks filter. Confirm that deposits for that exact token/network are open immediately before sending. Status can change.
- Confirm destination support and details. Make sure the destination accepts the network you intend to use and that the address, memo, tag, or other required details match its instructions. Do not infer support from the fact that another network for the same token is available.
- Review the bridge information available for the route. If the bridge is identified, consult its primary documentation for how cross-chain messages are verified and what trust or validator assumptions apply. The available MEXC guidance does not identify bridge providers for every supported asset/network.
- Consider the pause and failure path. Know which service to check if the bridge, project, wallet, or exchange pauses, and retain the transaction details needed to trace the transfer. A recovery process is not a reason to proceed on an unsupported or suspended route.
If a transfer is missing
- Check the transaction on the sending side. Confirm whether it was submitted and completed on the source network, and record the transaction identifier and route details.
- Check the receiving platform’s status and requirements. Verify that the destination supports the token and network used, and look for a suspension or maintenance notice. A completed source transaction does not prove that the destination has credited it.
- Contact the receiving platform through its official support process. MEXC lists unsupported-token deposits, incorrect deposit details, rejected withdrawals, and transfers missing credit at the destination among situations that may require assistance. Its recovery guidance says recovery is not guaranteed in every case.
MEXC’s recovery figures describe cases it reports handling, not the odds that a particular transfer can be recovered. Treat support as a possible case-handling route, not a safety net for sending to a suspended or unsupported network.

How to think about the bridge’s technical security
Bridge designs differ in how they verify cross-chain messages, what parties or validators they trust, and how their on-chain contracts and off-chain components are operated. A systematic survey, SoK: Security of Cross-chain Bridges: Attack Surfaces, Defenses, and Open Problems, organizes bridge characteristics and discusses 12 potential attack vectors. It offers a useful framework for questions to ask, not a current audit of MEXC’s integrations or evidence that a particular bridge used for an MEXC asset is vulnerable.

For a specific route, assess the bridge only from evidence that actually identifies it, and keep that technical assessment distinct from MEXC’s live deposit status.

What MEXC’s dated security figures do—and do not—show
MEXC’s reports provide platform-published snapshots of broader security incidents and response activity. Their scope and date matter: they are not bridge-only statistics, independent verification, or a guarantee about an individual transfer.
| Reported figure | Attribution and scope |
|---|---|
| 184 incidents and approximately $535 million in total losses during July–August 2026 | Aggregate industry figures published by MEXC for that period; not limited to cross-chain bridges. MEXC’s July–August 2026 report. |
| 38% of reported incidents attributed to DeFi, 31% to phishing and scams, and 17% to endpoint and supply-chain security during July–August 2026 | Categories in MEXC’s report, not a bridge-specific breakdown. MEXC’s July–August 2026 report. |
| 812 recovery requests involving erroneous cross-chain deposits and misdirected transfers; assets valued at 343,515 USDT remediated during May–June 2026 | Platform-reported cases and value for that period; not a recovery success rate or an assurance that another transfer will be recoverable. MEXC’s May–June 2026 report. |
In its May–June 2026 report, MEXC characterized “Cross-chain bridges, private key management, and user endpoints” as “the three major weak points in the industry’s security risk landscape during the period.” This is MEXC’s description of its reported period, not an independently established industry ranking. The report also does not establish the security of a particular bridge or MEXC transfer.
