In Edge, open Extensions beside the address bar and select Get Extensions for Microsoft Edge.

Search the Edge Add-ons store for SingleFileZ. Check the publisher and requested permissions, then select Get and confirm the prompt if a suitable listing is available. If you cannot find it there, check whether the project offers a suitable Chrome Web Store listing. Microsoft documents a route for allowing extensions from other stores in Edge; follow Microsoft’s current guidance and review the permissions before adding it. Microsoft Edge extensions overview.

Do not treat unpacked-extension sideloading as the normal installation method. Microsoft describes that process as a local development and testing workflow. See Microsoft’s sideloading guidance.
Save a webpage as a SingleFileZ archive

Open the page you want to keep in Edge and wait for it to finish loading. If the page loads content as you scroll, visit the relevant sections before saving.

Select the SingleFileZ button in Edge’s toolbar to start saving the current page. If the extension button is not visible, open the Extensions menu and select it there; you can also use Edge’s extension controls to show the button on the toolbar.

When the download finishes, keep the resulting HTML file. SingleFileZ describes this output as a self-extracting HTML file that is also a valid ZIP archive, with page resources in its ZIP structure. You can open the HTML file as a saved page or extract the archive structure with a ZIP utility. See the SingleFileZ project.
What the saved file preserves—and what it may not
SingleFileZ can package resources such as images, fonts, stylesheets and frames into one file. It is a snapshot, not a guarantee that every site will be captured completely or retain all of its original behavior. A page may rely on scripts, live services or content that the extension cannot access.

Opening requires JavaScript. The project’s FAQ says JavaScript must be enabled to open saved pages. Its instructions describe local-file behavior that varies by browser; Chrome has additional restrictions without the extension or a command-line switch. Some pages are inaccessible to extensions. Browser security restrictions can prevent an extension from reading particular pages. If saving does not work on a browser-protected page, this may be the cause rather than a problem with the file.

Faster capture settings can omit content. The FAQ warns that some performance-oriented settings may reduce saving time at the cost of missing frames or deferred images. If an archive looks incomplete, review capture options and consider using settings that wait for more page content.

Resources may be fetched even when not visible. The FAQ notes that SingleFileZ can fetch resources present on the page even if they are not displayed or cached. This can affect what the extension processes during a save.

Privacy and keeping a dependable copy
The SingleFileZ FAQ states that “SingleFileZ does not upload any data to third-party servers” and says processing takes place in the browser. That is the project’s statement, not an independent privacy audit. Because the extension may fetch page resources that are present but not displayed or cached, review its permissions and the project’s FAQ if you need to understand its behavior for sensitive pages.
After downloading, open the archive to confirm that the important text and images are present. If the page matters, keep a separate backup of the file; no special storage device is required to save or open it.
Troubleshoot an incomplete or missing archive

No file appears: confirm that the extension is installed and enabled, then select its toolbar button again on the page. Check Edge’s downloads list for a completed or blocked download.

Frames or images are missing: wait for the page and deferred content to load before capture. Review SingleFileZ’s capture settings; settings aimed at faster processing may skip frames or deferred images.

The page cannot be captured: some pages are blocked from extension access for security reasons. Try a regular accessible webpage to distinguish a page restriction from a general extension issue.

The saved file does not display as expected: enable JavaScript in the browser used to open it and consult the FAQ for that browser’s local-file restrictions.

Installation is unavailable in Edge Add-ons: check whether a suitable Chrome Web Store listing exists and use Microsoft’s documented cross-store method if it does. Avoid unpacked sideloading unless you are following Microsoft’s developer/testing process.
