Open the Argos build linked from the pull request, inspect each changed snapshot against its baseline and diff mask, then approve only if the visual change matches the pull request’s intent. You can record the decision in Argos’s browser interface or, after reviewing the evidence, use the Argos CLI to submit an approval or rejection.
Review the snapshots before deciding
- Open the Argos build from the pull request’s status check or Argos bot comment.
- Inspect each changed screenshot against its baseline. In the review page, use the split or single view, changes overlay and highlighter to understand the difference. Zoom and pan stay synchronized between panes; use J and K to move between changes.
- Check the current image and diff mask alongside the baseline. Compare what changed with the PR title, description, linked issue, branch and relevant code changes. The visual change should fit the behavior the PR intends to introduce.
- Approve only when the evidence matches that intent. If a difference is unexpected or may be flaky, reject the review or request changes and identify the affected snapshot. Argos’s review guidance advises against recommending approval until a flake is resolved.
The overall build label is not a substitute for inspecting the changed snapshots. The decision depends on whether each relevant difference is intentional and acceptable.

Record the decision in the Argos browser interface
Use the review controls in the build page to accept or reject the changes. Argos lists keyboard shortcuts, including Y to accept, N to reject and Enter to open the review popover. You can include a Markdown summary with the review. Argos keeps a history of who made each decision and when. See the Argos review documentation for current interface guidance.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
- Install the CLI as a development dependency:
npm install -D @argos-ci/cli. - Inspect the build:
argos build get <build>. - List only snapshots awaiting review:
argos build snapshots <build> --needs-review --json. - After reviewing the visual evidence, submit the decision:
argos review create <build> --event approveorargos review create <build> --event reject.
Add a short rationale with --body, for example: argos review create <build> --event reject --body "Unexpected spacing change in checkout-header". Replace <build> with the relevant build identifier. Argos announced terminal build inspection and review on April 20, 2026; see its official changelog.
CLI authentication
Reading build data uses the project token. Submitting a CLI review requires a personal access token and follows the project’s existing permissions. For CI authentication, Argos’s AI review guide recommends environment variables or GitHub OIDC rather than running the interactive login command in CI. Check the official AI review guide for current authentication instructions.

What an approval or rejection does
Each reviewer’s verdict counts independently: one rejection blocks a build, while one approval passes it if there is no rejection. The result can appear as a pull-request check and may be required by branch protection. Argos describes this behavior in its review documentation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteArgos selects a baseline from Git history. Its Diff page describes a PR baseline as the latest approved build on the commit where the branch diverged from its base branch (the merge base). Auto-approved branches such as main can keep that reference current. Confirm the baseline shown for the actual build rather than assuming a screenshot or code change establishes what should be approved; see the Argos Diff documentation.

Browser review or CLI review?
| Need | Browser interface | CLI |
|---|---|---|
| Visual inspection | Built-in side-by-side or single view, overlay, highlighter, synchronized zoom and pan. | Returns build and snapshot data; use the actual visual evidence to make the decision. |
| Record a decision | Review controls, with an optional Markdown summary. | argos review create <build> --event approve or --event reject; add --body for a rationale. |
| Authentication | Use the Argos web app through the PR integration. | Project token for build reads; personal access token for submitting a review. |
Whichever interface you choose, the substantive check is the same: does the changed snapshot match the PR’s intended behavior?
Troubleshooting review problems
- You cannot tell whether a difference is intentional. Check the PR description, linked issue and relevant code changes. If the intended behavior or context is missing, ask the author rather than guessing.
- A snapshot looks unexpectedly different or flaky. Do not approve it as a shortcut. Name the affected snapshot in a rejection or request for changes, and resolve the flake before approval.
- The CLI lists more snapshots than expected. Use
argos build snapshots <build> --needs-review --jsonto limit the output to snapshots awaiting review. - You can inspect a build but cannot submit a review. Check that you are using a personal access token for review submission and that your project permissions allow the action. Build reads use the project token; these are different documented requirements.
- A review command fails in CI because it expects interactive login. Configure the documented environment-variable or GitHub OIDC authentication route instead of running interactive login in CI.
- The PR status does not pass after an approval. Check whether any reviewer has rejected the build; a rejection blocks it even if another reviewer approves.
