If your Claude account was suspended or banned, sign in with that account and submit the appeal form linked from Anthropic’s Claude Help Center article Safeguards warnings and appeals. Anthropic says the form requires login. Its Safeguards team can investigate why the account was disabled, but the public instructions do not promise reinstatement or give a decision deadline.
The right next step depends on what is restricted: your personal account, your ability to log in, or an organization you belong to. Those situations have different routes. Use Anthropic’s official instructions, and do not assume that a support request or a blocked Claude response is itself an appeal decision.

How do I appeal a Claude account suspension?
For a personal Claude account suspension, Anthropic’s published route is an authenticated appeal form. Start at the Claude Help Center article Safeguards warnings and appeals, dated July 9, 2026, and follow the appeal link on that page. The form is not described as an open web form for people who are signed out: Anthropic’s instruction is explicit, “Important: You must be logged in to access the appeal form.”

Find Safeguards warnings and appeals in the Claude Help Center and use the appeal link provided there. This keeps you on the official route rather than relying on a third-party recovery service or an unofficial form.
- Sign in with the suspended account. Use the account that received the suspension, not a different Claude account. Anthropic says the appeal form is available only after logging in with the account that was disabled. If you cannot get through the sign-in step, see the access-support instructions below; the general support messenger is not an alternate appeal form.
- Complete and submit the linked form. Follow the form’s prompts. Anthropic’s public appeal article does not publish a required document list or a separate checklist of evidence, so do not treat guessed items as formal requirements. If you choose to explain what happened, keep the account of the issue concise and relevant. That is a practical way to make your request understandable, not an Anthropic-stated condition for filing.
- Wait for the Safeguards team to investigate. Anthropic says its Safeguards team can investigate why the account was disabled. It does not set a response deadline or guarantee a particular result. A submitted form means you have asked for review; it is not confirmation that the suspension will be removed.
Use the appeal form for a personal suspension rather than trying to create another account to get around the restriction. The published instructions describe Anthropic’s own appeal and support paths; they do not establish a way to bypass a suspension or promise that a new account will restore access.

Why might Claude suspend an account?
Anthropic’s Safeguards warnings and appeals article lists these possible reasons:
- Repeated violations of Anthropic’s Usage Policy.
- Creating an account from a location where Claude is not supported.
- Violating Anthropic’s Terms of Service.
These are reasons listed in the public appeal guidance, not an exhaustive list of every possible reason an account might be disabled. If you do not know why your account was suspended, the appeal route allows Anthropic’s Safeguards team to investigate why it was disabled; the public instructions do not provide a fuller diagnostic checklist for users to apply on their own.
If location may be relevant, check Anthropic’s current Where can I access Claude? page. The page was dated March 16, 2026, and supported locations can change. Do not rely on an old list or infer that a location is supported just because Claude was accessible there previously. The appeal guidance identifies account creation from an unsupported location as a possible reason, but does not say that checking the current list alone determines the outcome of an appeal.

- Open the Claude Help Center.
- Select the message icon to start a conversation.
- Choose “I can’t login” and explain that you cannot access the account.
This is an account-access support route, not a substitute suspension appeal. It is the appropriate route for a login problem; it does not change the published requirement to sign in to reach the appeal form. Anthropic says support can help people who cannot access their account with account deletion, data exports, and subscription support. If you regain access to the suspended account, use the authenticated appeal form for the suspension itself.
Keep the distinction clear when contacting support: a message that you cannot log in asks for help with access, while the appeal form asks the Safeguards team to investigate a suspension. The Help Center instructions do not say that support can submit the appeal for you or that an “I can’t login” conversation automatically triggers an appeal review.
Is this a personal suspension or an organization hold?
Check the restricted-account screen before choosing a route. Anthropic distinguishes an individual account suspension from a hold placed on an organization:
| Situation | What Anthropic says to do | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Your personal Claude account is suspended or banned | Sign in with that account and submit the form linked from Safeguards warnings and appeals. | The Safeguards appeal form is the route for a personal account suspension. |
| You cannot log in or otherwise access your account | In the Help Center messenger, start a conversation and select “I can’t login.” | This is general access support; Anthropic does not identify it as an alternate suspension appeal form. |
| Your individual account is in good standing, but your organization is on hold | On the restricted-account screen, select “Request a review” for the organization on hold. | This organization review is separate from appealing a personal account ban. |
Anthropic says the restricted-account screen identifies the organization on hold in the organization scenario. If your personal account remains in good standing and the organization is named as restricted, select “Request a review” for that organization. If the screen instead says your personal account is disabled, follow the personal appeal route.
These routes are not interchangeable. An organization review concerns a hold on the organization; it is not the personal suspension form. Likewise, choosing “I can’t login” is for account-access problems and is not a second way to appeal a personal ban. First identify which entity or account the restriction screen names, then use the route Anthropic specifies for that situation.

Can I export my Claude data or delete a banned account?
Anthropic says all banned users can delete their account. Users with a banned Free, Pro, or Max account that was banned for a Usage Policy violation may still be able to log in to export data or delete the account. Self-serve data export is available to banned users, but the data available may be restricted according to the violation. Anthropic says these options appear on the same screen as the appeal form after login.

Account deletion and an appeal serve different purposes. Deleting an account is an account-management option; the public guidance does not say that deleting it reverses a suspension or substitutes for requesting an investigation. If you want the suspension reviewed, use the appeal form. If your goal is to remove the account, Anthropic says banned users can delete it. Consider which action you need before proceeding, especially if you also want to request an appeal.
Do not assume that a data export will contain every item associated with the account. Anthropic specifically says export data may be restricted based on the violation. The public instructions do not guarantee that a particular conversation, file, or other category will be included. If you cannot sign in to reach the options, use the Help Center messenger’s “I can’t login” path and ask about data export or account deletion.
What happens after I submit an appeal?
Anthropic says its Safeguards team can investigate why the account was disabled. It does not publish an average turnaround time, a decision deadline, or a promise of reinstatement. Its July 9, 2026 appeal article reported longer-than-normal response times because of increased email volume. That was a dated status update, not a current service-level commitment, so it may not describe wait times now. There is no official number of days to use as an estimate.
Anthropic’s general support guide says support is provided in writing through the messenger and email, not by phone. Paid-plan support is asynchronous: replies appear in the same conversation and are also emailed to the address on the Claude account. The support guide says response times vary by plan and issue severity. Those general support details do not create a separate appeal deadline or change the authenticated appeal process.

If you already have a support conversation about the same issue and need to follow up, reply in that conversation instead of opening duplicates. Anthropic says duplicate requests must be re-triaged and may slow the response. Keep one conversation per issue. This is guidance about support conversations; it should not be read as a promise that sending additional requests changes the status of an appeal.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What not to assume about an appeal
- Filing does not guarantee restoration. Anthropic says the Safeguards team can investigate; it does not promise that an account will be reinstated.
- There is no published decision clock. The appeal article does not provide an average turnaround time or a deadline. The dated note about longer-than-normal response times may no longer reflect current waits.
- There is no published alternate appeal form for people who cannot log in. The appeal form requires login. “I can’t login” is the documented support path for an access problem, not a replacement form.
- A blocked response alone does not establish a policy violation. Anthropic says a real-time safeguard block by itself does not indicate one.
- An organization hold is a different case. If your personal account is in good standing and the organization is on hold, use “Request a review” on the organization rather than treating it as a personal account ban.
- A data export may be limited. Anthropic says available export data may be restricted based on the violation.
Before you send anything else
- Use the official appeal form while signed in to the suspended account.
- If you cannot access the account, use “I can’t login” for access support, not as a substitute appeal.
- If the restriction concerns an organization while your own account is in good standing, request a review of that organization from the restricted-account screen.
- Keep any follow-up about the same issue in the existing support conversation rather than opening duplicate support requests.
- Do not treat an appeal submission, a blocked response, or a support request as confirmation that the account will be restored.
- If you want to export data or delete the account, check the options shown after login and remember that export data may be restricted.

If your individual account is in good standing and the restricted-account screen identifies an organization on hold, select “Request a review” for that organization. That is separate from appealing a personal account suspension.

Does a blocked Claude response mean I violated the Usage Policy?
Not by itself. Anthropic says a real-time safeguard block alone does not indicate a Usage Policy violation. A blocked response is not a substitute for information about why an account was disabled.
The Bottom Line
For a personal Claude account suspension, sign in with the suspended account and submit the form linked from Anthropic’s Safeguards warnings and appeals article. If you cannot log in, use “I can’t login” in the Help Center messenger for access support; if your personal account is in good standing but your organization is on hold, request a review of the organization. Anthropic may investigate an appeal, but does not publish a response deadline or promise reinstatement.
