To change rates safely, stop the Conan Exiles server, edit its generated ServerSettings.ini, save the file, restart the server, and test the result in-game. A value of 1.0 is the usual baseline: higher values generally increase a rate and lower values reduce it. The exact setting names can vary with the game version and hosting panel, so use the keys already present in your own generated file rather than copying a renamed key from a guide.

What you need before changing rates
Changing rates is a server-side configuration task. You do not need to modify every player’s client, but you do need administrative access to the dedicated server or its hosting control panel. Have the following ready:

- Access to the server’s configuration editor or file system.
- A recent backup of
ServerSettings.ini. - A short maintenance window in which the server can be stopped and restarted.
- A way to join the server and perform a repeatable test, such as harvesting one known resource node or crafting one familiar item.
Stop the server before opening the file. Editing while the process is running can be overwritten when the service saves its current configuration during shutdown, and a restart is required before players can rely on the new values.

Hosted server: use the panel editor
Most game-server hosts expose Conan Exiles settings through a configuration editor. Stop the server from the host panel, open the Conan Exiles configuration area, and select the editor for ServerSettings.ini. The exact menu names differ between providers, so look for a file editor, an advanced settings page, or a generated configuration section rather than assuming a particular label.

If the panel offers both simple controls and a raw-text editor, the raw editor is useful for keys that are not represented by a visible switch. First copy the existing contents into a local backup. After saving, confirm that the panel reports a successful write before restarting the service.
Self-hosted Windows server
On a self-hosted Windows installation, the file is normally under the Conan installation’s ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/ directory. Open ServerSettings.ini with a plain-text editor, not a word processor. If more than one Conan installation exists, use the directory belonging to the instance that actually launches your dedicated server.

Self-hosted Linux server
Linux installations use the corresponding LinuxServer configuration directory: ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/. File-name capitalization matters on Linux. Confirm that the account running the server can read the file and write the updated version.
The safe edit-and-restart procedure
- Stop the server completely. Wait until the panel or service manager shows that the process has exited. Do not edit a file that is still being written.
- Back up the current file. Save a dated copy before changing anything. This gives you a known-good rollback if a typo or an experimental rate causes problems.
- Open the generated file. Use the panel’s configuration editor, or open the WindowsServer or LinuxServer path for a self-hosted installation.
- Locate the exact key. Search for the setting name already generated in your file. If the key is absent, check the panel’s advanced settings or allow the server to generate a fresh file before adding anything; key names are not guaranteed to be identical across versions.
- Change only the value. Keep the format
SettingName=value, preserve the spelling and capitalization, and use a decimal such as2.0where appropriate. Do not add quotation marks. - Save the file and verify the write. In a panel, use its save or apply control and check for a success message. On a self-hosted machine, confirm the file’s modified time and reopen it to ensure the value remained.
- Restart the server. Rates normally take effect after the dedicated server loads the edited file. If the panel has separate start and restart controls, use restart only after the stop operation has completed.
- Test in-game. Perform a controlled action, such as killing one creature for XP, harvesting one node, or timing one craft. Record the result before changing another key so you can identify which setting made a difference.
How Conan Exiles multipliers interact
Most rate controls use 1.0 as their baseline. A value above 1.0 generally raises the associated rate; a value below 1.0 generally reduces it. The important exception is a time-based setting: when a key represents duration, a lower number can mean less time and therefore a faster result.
Global XP and source-specific XP
PlayerXPRateMultiplier acts as the global XP dial. Separate source controls can further modify XP from particular activities:

These controls can multiply one another. For example, a global value of 2.0 combined with PlayerXPHarvestMultiplier=2.0 produces a four-times harvest-XP result relative to a baseline of 1.0, assuming no other modifier changes the award. If you want every XP source doubled, set the global control and leave the source-specific controls at their baseline. If you want only harvesting changed, keep the global value at its current level and adjust the harvest control instead.

PlayerXPTimeMultiplier governs passive XP earned simply by remaining logged in. It is separate from kill, harvest, and craft XP. A server that feels too generous despite normal activity rates may have a high time multiplier, while a server that expects active play can reduce it without changing the reward from a specific action.
Harvesting and resource respawn
Increase or reduce the amount obtained per action
HarvestAmountMultiplier changes the yield from each harvest action. Raising it lets players collect more material from the same swing or interaction; lowering it makes each action produce less. One community guide treats values from 1.0 through 3.0 as a sensible working range. That is a gameplay recommendation, not an engine limit. The same guide warns that values above 3.0 can make inventories overflow on every harvest, so test high settings carefully and consider storage capacity before deploying them.
Change how quickly nodes return
ResourceRespawnSpeedMultiplier controls how quickly resources return after being gathered. A higher value is intended to shorten the wait for a node to reappear, while a lower value stretches the interval. Yield and respawn are independent: increasing HarvestAmountMultiplier gives more material per action, whereas increasing ResourceRespawnSpeedMultiplier makes another action available sooner. Adjust them separately when you want to preserve one aspect of the survival loop.
Crafting speed: why the key is not settled
Crafting is the area where community documentation conflicts most clearly. Different guides describe two keys differently, and the authoritative Funcom key name and behavior are not confirmed by the available documentation. Treat the entries in your own generated file as the reference and verify every change with a timed craft.

CraftingTimeMultiplier
Most guides describe CraftingTimeMultiplier as a duration control: lower values reduce crafting time and therefore make crafting faster, while higher values make the wait longer. For example, a value of 0.7 is used in a community PvE-oriented preset as a faster-than-baseline crafting time. Do not assume that this direction applies to every other crafting-related key.
ItemConvertionMultiplier
Another key appears with the spelling ItemConvertionMultiplier, including the missing s in Convertion. One guide treats it as a crafting-time control where lower is faster; another describes it as a speed multiplier where higher is faster. Because those descriptions disagree, do not substitute this key for CraftingTimeMultiplier based on a copied example alone.
The misspelling may be significant. A guide warns that changing the name to the grammatically correct ItemConversionMultiplier causes the game to ignore the setting. If your generated file contains ItemConvertionMultiplier, preserve that spelling exactly while testing. If it does not contain the key, do not assume that adding a corrected version will work.
Do not use the cost multiplier for speed
CraftingCostMultiplier scales the material cost of crafting; it does not establish how long a craft takes. Changing it to make crafting faster can instead alter the number of resources consumed. Keep cost and time changes separate so a failed speed test does not silently change the economy.

- Choose an item with a crafting time long enough to observe and a recipe whose material cost you know.
- Stop the server, back up the file, and change only one candidate key.
- Restart and time the craft from the moment it begins until it completes. Use the same station, recipe, and conditions for every trial.
- Check both elapsed time and materials consumed. A shorter duration with an unexpected cost change indicates that a cost key was edited rather than a time key.
- If the result does not change, restore the backup, confirm the exact spelling in the generated file, and test the other documented candidate rather than stacking both uncertain keys.
Community rate presets
The following examples come from third-party community guides. They are starting points, not official Funcom recommendations, and they should be adjusted for the number of players, the desired progression length, and the server’s version.

Faster preparation and recovery for a more competitive server |
The PvE example combines several independent systems, so importing it wholesale changes more than XP. The PvP example gives ranges rather than one fixed configuration. Choose one rate at a time when tuning an established community, or publish the complete preset to players before a fresh season so everyone understands the progression rules.

Keep progression and materials separate
Decide first whether the problem is character progression or physical resource supply. If players level too slowly but storage is already full, raise the appropriate XP control and leave harvesting unchanged. If building consumes too much time but levels feel right, adjust harvest yield or respawn rather than multiplying every XP source.
Use the smallest effective change
Start near the current value and make one change. Moving a global XP control from 1.0 to 1.5 is easier to evaluate than changing the global rate, four source rates, harvest yield, respawn, and crafting time simultaneously. Once the effect is understood, document the value in the server rules and take another backup.

Account for compounding
Remember that the global XP control and a source-specific XP control can stack. Setting both to 2.0 is not a simple two-times change for that source; it can produce four-times source XP. Likewise, harvest yield and respawn interact over a play session: one changes the amount per trip, and the other changes how often a trip is possible.
Verify that a setting actually loaded
Use an observable test rather than relying on the panel’s saved-status message. For XP, perform the same kind of action before and after the change and compare the award. For harvesting, use one node and count the resulting items. For respawn, record the time until that same type of node returns. For crafting, record both duration and material cost.
If the result is unchanged, check the following in order:
- The server was fully stopped before the edit and restarted afterward.
- You edited the configuration file used by this instance, not a similarly named installation or a template file.
- The key spelling, capitalization, and punctuation match the generated entry.
- The panel did not regenerate the file from a separate profile when the server started.
- You changed a value that controls the tested activity, rather than a related setting such as crafting cost instead of crafting time.
- A second multiplier is not masking the result; inspect the global and source-specific XP controls together.
Common failure modes and recovery
The server will not start
Restore the dated backup, confirm that each edited line uses a numeric value, and start the server with the known-good file. Then reapply one change at a time. A backup is faster and safer than trying to diagnose several simultaneous edits.
The setting is ignored
Compare the key with the spelling in the generated file. This is especially important for ItemConvertionMultiplier; correcting the spelling can make the game disregard it according to one community guide. If the key is absent or the behavior remains ambiguous, use the other documented candidate only after restoring and testing in isolation.
Players report unexpected progression
Inspect for stacked XP controls. A high global rate combined with a high kill, harvest, or craft rate can multiply that source more than intended. Review the effective combination, return the source-specific value to baseline if necessary, and communicate the change before the next play session.
Harvesting overwhelms storage
Reduce HarvestAmountMultiplier before increasing respawn settings further. Values above 3.0 have been associated by one guide with inventories overflowing on every harvest. If the goal is less waiting rather than larger hauls, lower the yield and tune the respawn control instead.
Version drift and maintenance
Conan Exiles configuration keys are not guaranteed to remain identical across versions, and the available guidance does not establish an official, version-independent key list. After a game or server update, open the newly generated ServerSettings.ini and compare it with your saved backup. Reapply only entries that still exist and confirm uncertain settings with an in-game test.

- Choose the player-facing outcome you want: faster leveling, larger harvests, quicker node returns, shorter crafting waits, or a different material economy.
- Identify the narrowest matching key and check its spelling in the generated file.
- Back up the file, stop the server, and change one value.
- Restart, run a repeatable in-game test, and compare the result with the baseline.
- Only after the result is confirmed, document the value and move to the next adjustment.
