Start by confirming that your exact Glock 48 configuration fits the holster. Then adjust only the features that its maker says are adjustable: retention controls draw tension, ride height changes how high or low the holster sits, and cant changes its angle. Confirm the holster fits your exact Glock 48 setup
Before changing hardware, check the holster maker’s current fit list for the exact pistol and any attachments. A listing may distinguish the Glock 48 from the Glock 48 MOS, and may specify limits involving lights, lasers, sights, or extended and threaded barrels. Do not infer compatibility from a product name or from another holster made for a G48.

Know what each adjustment changes
- Retention: Changes how firmly the holster holds the pistol and how much resistance it presents during a draw. Adjustment methods and behavior vary by model.
- Ride height: Changes the holster’s vertical position relative to the belt. A clip or attachment may offer more than one mounting position, but not every holster does.
- Cant: Changes the holster’s angle. Some mounting systems allow adjustment; others provide a fixed position.
- Claw or wing: Some models offer an optional attachment intended to alter how the holster sits against the body. It is not a universal feature, and its installation and effects depend on the model.
These controls are not interchangeable: changing cant does not set retention, and a different ride height does not establish that the pistol is securely held. Rounded Gear describes adjustable retention, cant, and ride height for its listed G48 holster; Four Brothers’ product page describes its own specifications. Use the instructions for the exact model rather than copying another maker’s settings.
Adjust the holster using its own instructions
- Read the current instructions and compatibility list. Confirm the pistol variant and accessory configuration the holster accepts, and identify which features the maker says can be changed.
- Follow firearm safety guidance while handling the pistol. GLOCK’s safety FAQ says: “TREAT EVERY FIREARM AS IF IT IS LOADED”; “ALWAYS KEEP THE FIREARM POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION”; and “KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER AND OUTSIDE THE GUN’S TRIGGER GUARD UNTIL THE GUN IS POINTED AT THE TARGET AND YOU HAVE DECIDED TO FIRE.” Consult the G17–G48 owner’s manual available through GLOCK’s official downloadable materials page, along with the holster maker’s directions.
- Identify the available controls. Depending on the holster, these may include retention screws, alternate clip positions for ride height or cant, or an optional claw or wing. Do not assume a control exists because another G48 holster has it.
- Make only the changes the maker specifies. Follow its sequence and guidance; the cited official sources do not set a universal screw torque, cant angle, or retention force.
- Reassess the fit and comfort in accordance with the maker’s directions. Comfort is personal, and a maker’s feature list does not establish a proven comfort ranking. If the fit or compatibility remains uncertain, stop relying on that combination and contact the holster manufacturer.
Compare specifications before choosing a G48 IWB holster
When shopping, compare published specifications rather than assuming that all holsters labeled for the G48 fit the same way. Maker descriptions establish what a product is specified to support; they do not prove that one model is more comfortable or secure for every person.
