To add a DayZ server to GameTracker, sign in to a registered account, open Servers, select DayZ, enter the server IP address or domain, and submit it. To claim the listing, temporarily rename the server to GameTrackerClaimServer, then select CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF SERVER. Use the normal DayZ join port, usually 2302; verify the separate query port for your DayZ edition on GameTracker before troubleshooting.

What you need before adding the server
Prepare the connection details and account access first. GameTracker’s servers page indicates that only registered users can add new servers, although the wording is taken from a page snippet rather than a current, detailed help article. Create or sign in to your GameTracker account before starting: GameTracker servers.

- Server address: have the public IPv4 address or domain name that players use to find the server. Do not enter a private LAN address such as 192.168.x.x.
- Game selection: the GameTracker add-server form must be set to DayZ, not a similarly named mod or another game.
- Join port: DayZ servers normally use port 2302 for player connections, according to the Nitrado DayZ instructions.
- Query details: keep the server’s query-port information available. DayZ mod and DayZ Standalone do not necessarily expose query services in the same way.
- Administrative access: you need permission to change the server name temporarily so GameTracker can verify ownership.
GameTracker can only poll a server that is reachable from the public internet. A listing may therefore remain empty or fail to add when the address or required ports are blocked. Reports in the GameTracker forum describe this problem for a DayZ Standalone server, but those reports are anecdotal rather than a guaranteed diagnosis: DayZ SA server can not be added.
How to add a DayZ server to GameTracker
The following sequence follows the DayZ-specific instructions published by Nitrado: Add DayZ server to GameTracker. GameTracker’s labels can change, but the required information and order are the same.

- Sign in. Log in to your registered GameTracker account. If the site sends you to an account or registration screen, complete that step before opening the add-server form.
- Open Servers. From GameTracker, go to the Servers section. This is the area used to list and manage tracked game servers.
- Choose DayZ. In the game selector, choose DayZ. Selecting the wrong game creates a listing that cannot correctly query a DayZ instance.
- Enter the public address. Type the server’s public IP address or domain name in the address field. Copy it exactly, without a protocol prefix such as
https://and without a private management address. - Submit the listing. Use the form’s add or submit button. GameTracker will attempt to create the server entry and query the endpoint you supplied.
- Check the new entry. Open the resulting server page and confirm that the displayed game, address and port identify your server. A newly created entry may need a short time for its status and player information to populate.

How to claim ownership of the listing
Adding an entry places it on GameTracker; claiming it associates the entry with your account. The verification method described for DayZ is a temporary server-name change.
- Open the GameTracker page for the server entry you just created.
- Change the server’s displayed name in your DayZ server configuration to exactly
GameTrackerClaimServer. Match the capitalization and spelling; do not add spaces or extra characters. - Restart or otherwise apply the server configuration change using your host’s normal controls, then wait until the changed name is visible to GameTracker.
- On the server page, select CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF SERVER.
- After GameTracker accepts the claim, restore the server’s normal public name and apply that configuration change.
The name is a verification token, not a recommended permanent name. If the claim button does not succeed, first make sure GameTracker can see the temporary name and that the listing points to the correct address and port. A name that is changed only in a local control panel but not actually loaded by the running server will not provide the verification signal.

DayZ ports: join port versus query port
Port confusion is the most common reason a listing looks wrong even when the IP address is correct. A DayZ server can use one port for player connections and another service or port for status queries.

The distinction between the two DayZ variants is documented in the GameTracker discussion about Standalone query ports: Server Query port for DayZ Standalone. Treat that forum guidance as operational advice, not a current official specification; the exact Standalone query-port answer was not established there.
Do not assume that changing the query port fixes a failed player join. If players cannot connect through a GameTracker link, verify the join port first. If the listing exists but shows no status or player information, investigate the query port and reachability instead.

What a successful listing should show
Once GameTracker has polled the server, inspect the listing rather than relying only on the fact that it was created.
- The game is identified as DayZ.
- The public IP address or domain matches the address you submitted.
- The displayed join port matches the port players actually use.
- The server name is your normal name after the ownership check is complete.
- Status, map, player count or other fields update instead of remaining permanently blank.
- The ownership controls are available to your account after a successful claim.
GameTracker’s listing page is the authoritative place to inspect the entry currently associated with your account: https://www.gametracker.com/servers/. A server can appear in search while still reporting stale data if its query endpoint is inaccessible.
Troubleshooting a DayZ server that will not add
The add form rejects the address
- Confirm that you selected DayZ before submitting.
- Enter only the public IP address or hostname in the address field. Remove
http://,https://, a trailing path and any control-panel URL. - Check for a copied typo, especially a missing digit, an extra space or a domain name that resolves only inside your network.
- Ensure you are signed in. The GameTracker servers page indicates that registration is required for adding servers.
The entry is created but never comes online
First compare the address and join port in the listing with the values supplied by your host. Then verify that the server is running and that the relevant service is reachable from outside your private network. A firewall, host-side network rule or incorrect port forwarding can allow local administration while blocking GameTracker’s external poll.

For DayZ Standalone, locate the query-port value on the server’s GameTracker Manage page and use that value when checking the configuration. The forum material does not establish one universal Standalone query port, so do not substitute a number from another server.

Players cannot join through GameTracker
Recheck the join port, not just the query port. The DayZ-specific instructions identify 2302 as the normal join port, but hosted servers can be configured differently. A GameTracker forum report says that an incorrect join port prevented joining and that deleting the entry and adding it again with the correct port fixed the listing: GameTracker forum report.
Use this recovery sequence:
- Write down the exact public address and join port shown in your host’s DayZ settings.
- Remove the incorrect GameTracker entry if the site does not offer an edit control.
- Add the server again under DayZ with the corrected address and join port.
- Wait for the new entry to be queried, then repeat the ownership process if the old claim did not carry over.
The ownership claim fails
- Verify the running server name is exactly
GameTrackerClaimServer, including capitalization. - Wait for GameTracker to observe the changed name before pressing the claim button.
- Make sure you are claiming the entry that points to your own address and port.
- If the server has multiple instances, confirm that the name change was applied to the same instance represented by the listing.
- After a failed attempt, restore neither the normal name nor another temporary name until you have confirmed which entry GameTracker is polling.
The listing shows the wrong server or duplicate entries
Different ports can represent different DayZ instances on the same host. Compare both the address and join port, then remove an entry that was created with an incorrect combination. Re-adding with the correct values is safer than trying to claim a listing that points to another instance.

When the basic form steps are correct, isolate whether the problem is data entry or reachability.
- Check from outside the server network. Ask someone on a different internet connection to resolve the public domain or test the server listing. A local connection can succeed through routing that is unavailable to GameTracker.
- Confirm the server is running. A stopped or restarting instance cannot answer either player or query requests.
- Compare configured and advertised ports. Record the join port and, for Standalone, the query port shown in GameTracker’s management view. Do not infer one from the other.
- Review firewall and host rules. Ensure the host’s network policy permits the required DayZ traffic. The exact rule syntax depends on the operating system and hosting provider, so use that provider’s documented controls rather than applying an unrelated port list.
- Allow for polling delay. After a restart, address change or temporary name change, give GameTracker time to query the instance before deciding the operation failed.
Forum reports about unreachable ports are useful clues, but they are not proof that every failed addition has the same cause. If external checks fail, give your host the public address, join port, query-port information and the time of the failed attempt so it can inspect network logs.
Changing the server name back safely
Do not leave GameTrackerClaimServer as the public identity unless that is intentional. Once the ownership claim succeeds, restore the name players recognize, apply the configuration and verify that the GameTracker entry updates to the restored name. If the listing stops updating after the rename, check that the change was made on the same server instance and that the address and ports were not changed at the same time.
A compact setup checklist
- Registered GameTracker account and active sign-in.
- Public DayZ IP address or domain, copied exactly.
- DayZ selected in the game dropdown.
- Correct join port recorded; 2302 is the normal default cited by the DayZ guide.
- DayZ Standalone query port checked on the GameTracker Manage page.
- Server added from the Servers section.
- Server temporarily renamed exactly
GameTrackerClaimServer. - CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF SERVER selected after the temporary name is visible.
- Normal server name restored after the claim.
- Listing checked for the correct address, port and live status.
When to delete and re-add instead of editing
Use delete-and-re-add when the original entry contains the wrong join port, points to a different instance, or was created under the wrong game. The documented forum recovery for a wrong join port was to delete the entry and submit it again with the corrected value. Re-adding also gives you a clean ownership check if the original entry was claimed against the wrong endpoint. Preserve the correct public address and port before removing anything so the replacement entry does not repeat the same error.
