You can add, delete, or move PDF pages with Preview on a Mac or Acrobat’s Organize pages tools on the web and desktop. The right steps depend on your device—and, for Acrobat on the web, the document is saved to Adobe cloud storage.
Choose a PDF page organizer
| Option | What it can do | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Preview on Mac | Insert a blank page or a page from a file; delete pages; drag pages to reorder or move between open PDFs. | Deleting a page also removes its annotations. See Apple’s Preview instructions. |
| Acrobat on the web | Insert pages from another file, delete pages, and drag thumbnails to reorder. | The organized file is automatically saved to Adobe cloud storage. See Adobe’s web instructions. |
| Acrobat desktop | Select and drag pages to move them; cut, copy, and paste pages between positions. | Save the PDF after editing. See Adobe’s desktop instructions. |
If the PDF contains sensitive information, consider the storage implications before using the web workflow. Adobe’s instructions establish that the file is saved to its cloud storage, but do not specify retention or privacy terms. The cited product guides also do not establish current pricing, plan requirements, or account entitlements.

Add, delete, or move pages in Preview on Mac
- Open the PDF in Preview.
- Choose View > Thumbnails or View > Contact Sheet to display the pages.
- To add a page, select the page that should come immediately before the insertion point. Choose Edit > Insert > Page from File to add a page from another document, or choose Blank Page. The sidebar’s Add control also offers these choices.
- To delete, select one or more page thumbnails and press Delete, or choose Edit > Delete.
- To change the order, drag a thumbnail to its new position.
- To move a page to another PDF, display thumbnails or contact sheets in both PDFs, then drag the page thumbnail from one document to the other.
Apple notes that deleting a page also deletes any annotations on that page. Check the page and its markups before removing it.
Organize pages in Acrobat on the web

- To delete a page, hover over its thumbnail and select Delete.
- To add pages, choose Insert pages, select the source file, and choose where the pages should go.
- Select Save. Adobe says the organized PDF is automatically saved to Adobe cloud storage.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you do this in Microsoft Edge?
Microsoft’s documentation for the Edge PDF reader describes reading, navigation, inking, and comments; it does not establish that Edge can insert, delete, or reorder pages. If you need to change a PDF’s pages, use a documented organizer such as Preview or Acrobat, or confirm that your current Edge version or an extension supports the specific operation.
