To add an overlay in Streamlabs Mobile, open or create a scene, then go to Layers → Add Layers and choose a theme, widget, image, text, or another available element. Arrange the layer on the landscape canvas and save the scene.
Choose a theme or build the overlay yourself
A premade theme is the quickest route to a coordinated look: it bundles a matching screen border with themed alert and chat widgets. Adding individual layers instead gives you more control over which elements appear and where they sit.

- Choose a theme for a ready-made visual style with coordinated elements. Applying it may change the scene layout, so check the result before streaming.
- Add individual layers when you want to select and position specific widgets, graphics, labels, images, or text.
Add individual overlay layers
- Open the Streamlabs Mobile app menu and select Scenes.
- Create a scene, give it a name, and select a premade or custom scene. If you already have a scene, open it.
- Open Layers in the upper-right area and tap Add Layers.
- Choose the element you want to add. Depending on the app and device, available choices include themes, guests, cameras, widgets, Streamlabs graphics, custom items, screen share, and stream labels. Widgets can include an Alert Box or Chat Box.
- For a custom item, choose an image from your phone, a website link, or custom text.
- Drag and resize the new element in the preview. Use the Layers panel to manage the arrangement, then save the scene.
Apply a premade theme
- Open the app menu and select Themes.
- Browse the mobile theme library and choose a theme.
- Select the scene to which it should apply. Review the preview if the app offers one.
- Choose Continue, then Apply.
- Inspect the scene after application. Reposition or resize elements if needed, then save. If Streamlabs prompts you to repeat the arrangement for landscape, follow that prompt.
Themes are available to Ultra users or through app rewards, according to Streamlabs’ theme instructions. Check the current options in the app: the documentation does not establish Ultra as the only way to access themes. Streamlabs’ Ultra page listed a starting price of $15.75/month when reviewed on October 3, 2026; check the current offer before subscribing.

Arrange overlays for the correct canvas
Streamlabs’ editor guide says the stream output must use a 16:9 aspect ratio and that widgets can only be edited in landscape mode. If the phone is portrait, entering editor mode switches it to landscape so you can position elements on the intended output canvas rather than in the black side bars. Save the layout and repeat it for landscape if the app prompts you.

Screen-sharing availability depends on platform and app version. The editor guide identifies screen share as an iOS layer; a newer Streamlabs guide describes Android capturing the screen while broadcasting the camera at the same time. Check the choices shown in your installed app rather than assuming every device has identical options.
Check the scene before going live
- Confirm that text, alerts, and other important elements are within the visible 16:9 canvas.
- Make sure the overlay does not cover the part of the camera or screen content viewers need to see.
- Preview the scene after applying a theme, since its layout may replace or reposition existing elements.
- Save the scene after arranging layers and check the landscape layout the app will use for streaming.
