To add Netflix to a compatible Amazon Fire tablet, open Appstore, search for Netflix, tap Download, then open the app and sign in. Netflix says its app is available from the Amazon Appstore on tablets running Fire OS 7 or later.
Install Netflix from the Amazon Appstore
- From the tablet’s home screen, tap Appstore.
- Tap the search button in the upper-right corner and search for Netflix.
- Select Netflix in the results and tap Download.
- When the installation finishes, tap Open.
- Tap Sign In and enter the email address or phone number and password for your Netflix account.
Netflix directs Fire tablet users to the Amazon Appstore; you do not need to sideload the app for the standard installation. A Netflix account is required to use the service. Netflix’s Fire tablet instructions specify Fire OS version 7 or later.

Check whether your Fire tablet is compatible
The current Netflix app is listed for Fire tablets running Fire OS 7 or later. If Netflix does not appear in Appstore search, check the tablet’s Fire OS version and install any available system updates, then search again. Netflix’s Android phone and tablet help also covers checking for supported software and updating the app.
Fix common installation and download problems
Netflix appears but needs an update
- From the home screen, open Appstore.
- Open Menu, then choose App Updates.
- Update Netflix if it is listed. If it is not listed, Netflix says the app is already up to date.
The offline-download option is missing
Netflix downloads on Fire tablets require Fire OS 7 or later, and not every show or movie can be downloaded. If the option is missing, check both the tablet’s OS version and whether that title offers downloads. See Netflix’s download troubleshooting guidance.

The tablet is rooted or running a modified system
Netflix warns that a rooted tablet or one with a modified operating system, altered system settings, or device certification issues may not be able to download the app or run it properly. The official Appstore route is intended for supported, unmodified devices.

The Netflix app supports searching titles, seeking with the playback progress bar, subtitles, alternate-language audio, and offline downloads where a title is downloadable and the tablet meets the OS requirement. Picture-in-Picture is supported on some Fire tablets, but not all.

For Full HD playback up to 1080p, Netflix specifically lists the Fire Max 11, Fire HD 10, and Fire HD 8. That list does not establish Full HD support for every Fire tablet. Amazon’s Fire tablet overview identifies model generations such as Fire Max 11 (2023), Fire HD 10 (2023), Fire HD 8 (2022), and Fire 7 (2022), but Netflix’s own list is the relevant reference for Netflix playback quality.
