To add live sale notifications to a WooCommerce store, install a sales-notification extension, activate it, and configure its controls in WooCommerce. The official Live Sales Notification for WooCommerce documentation describes notifications based on genuine orders as well as separately configured promotional or simulated activity. Label those modes accurately: a simulated popup is not proof that someone bought the product.
What you need before setup
- A WordPress administrator account with permission to install plugins.
- The extension ZIP file, obtained from its legitimate seller or the WooCommerce Marketplace.
- WooCommerce already installed and configured on the store.
The extension is intended for visitor-facing popups. It is different from an internal order-alert system that emails staff, suppliers, or drop shippers.
Install the live-sale notification extension
- Download the Live Sales Notification for WooCommerce extension ZIP after purchasing or obtaining it.
- In WordPress admin, open Plugins > Add New.
- Select Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP file, and install it.
- Click Activate when WordPress finishes the installation.
- Open WooCommerce > Settings > Sales Notifications. Some Marketplace versions expose the same page as WooCommerce > Sales Notifications; use the menu item created by your installed version.
Configure where and when popups appear
General settings
Enable notifications independently for desktop and mobile visitors. Disabling one device type prevents the popup from appearing there while leaving the other device type enabled.
Display pages
Choose the storefront locations documented for the extension: Home, Shop, Product, Category, and Cart pages. Limit the locations to pages where a sale message supports the customer’s decision rather than covering checkout controls.

Timing
Use the timing controls to set whether notifications loop, how long each notification remains visible, and how long the interval lasts before another appears. Depending on the extension version, duration and intervals can be custom or random. Keep the interval long enough that visitors can read the message and interact with the page.
Choose genuine orders or promotional displays
Real Sale Notifications
The documented Real Sale Notifications option displays recent activity from actual WooCommerce orders. Use this mode when the popup is intended as factual social proof, and make sure the products and order data shown are suitable for public display.

Selected products or categories
The product controls can target particular products or categories and can exclude products or categories. This lets you promote selected inventory even when you are not displaying a synchronized recent purchase.
Fake or simulated order notifications
The extension documentation and Marketplace listing separately describe fake-order or promotional notifications. These are marketing messages created from configured products or categories, not evidence of a customer’s purchase. Do not call them “live sales,” “recent purchases,” or “someone just bought this” unless the displayed event is tied to a genuine order.

Style the notification
Use Design Settings to configure the popup’s close button, the Don’t Show Again behavior, product hyperlink, product-rating presentation, corner style, padding, text color, template, and animation. Preview the result on both a desktop and a mobile viewport so the message does not obscure product controls, cart actions, or important consent elements.
Add sound carefully
The extension includes a Sound section. Treat sound as optional: unexpected audio can disrupt visitors, especially on product and cart pages. If you enable it, verify that the control is easy to disable and test it on mobile devices.

Assign scope and verify the result
- In Products, select real-order mode or the specific products and categories to promote, then add any exclusions.
- In Assign, set the pages or other assignment controls offered by your version.
- Save the settings.
- Open the selected storefront pages in a private browser window and check desktop and mobile layouts.
- Confirm that product links open the intended item, close and “Don’t Show Again” controls work, and timing does not create a constant stream of popups.
- If real-order mode is enabled, compare a displayed item with the order data available in WooCommerce before publishing the popup broadly.

Troubleshoot common problems
No popup appears
- Confirm the extension is activated and its settings are saved.
- Check that the current page is included in the selected display locations or assignment rules.
- Verify that desktop or mobile display is enabled for the device you are testing.
- Check product and category exclusions and timing intervals.
- Test while logged out or in a private window if visitor targeting or “Don’t Show Again” has suppressed the message.
The popup shows the wrong kind of activity
Review whether the extension is set to real-order mode or selected-product/category mode. Switch to real-order mode for factual purchase notices, or change the wording and design so promotional simulations are clearly presented as promotions.
Popups interfere with shopping
Reduce frequency, shorten the number of display locations, adjust padding and corner placement, and retain a visible close button. Recheck the cart and checkout-adjacent experience on a phone.

Use accurate disclosure
A recent-order popup can communicate genuine WooCommerce order activity when it is sourced from actual orders. A manually selected, dummy, or promotional notification communicates marketing intent instead. Configure the extension so its source and wording match, and avoid presenting simulated demand as customer evidence.
