Add Korean through Samsung Keyboard settings; you do not need to change your phone’s system language. Open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > Languages and types > Manage input languages, download Korean if it appears as available, and turn it on. Then switch to Korean while typing with the language key or a swipe across the spacebar. Menu names and options can vary by device and software version. Samsung’s Galaxy keyboard instructions describe the current route.
Add Korean to Samsung Keyboard
- Open Settings on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Tap General management, then Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Tap Languages and types, then Manage input languages.
- Find Korean. If it is already in the downloaded-language list, turn on its switch. If it is listed under available languages, tap its download icon, then return to the list and enable it.
- Open a text field in a messaging app or another app to use the keyboard.
Samsung separates downloaded languages from languages available to download. Availability may depend on the device and its software. If you do not see Samsung Keyboard settings in that exact location, use Settings search for “Samsung Keyboard”; Samsung notes that menus can differ by device or software.

Switch between Korean and English while typing
With the keyboard open, tap the language key to move between enabled languages, or swipe across the spacebar if that option is configured. You can select the method in Samsung Keyboard settings; depending on the software version, the language key, spacebar swipe, or both may be available. Typing Korean will not change your phone’s language
Adding Korean as a keyboard input language changes what Samsung Keyboard can type, not the language used across your phone’s menus. Samsung documents device-language settings separately from keyboard input-language settings. Samsung Australia’s guide for Australian-variant devices explicitly says adding a secondary keyboard language will not change the language and input throughout the phone. If Korean is missing or the settings are different
- Check the available-languages list: Korean may need to be downloaded before it can be enabled. The available choices are not established as identical across all models and regional software builds.
- Search Settings: Search for “Samsung Keyboard” if the menu path differs. When the keyboard is open, its settings gear may also provide a shortcut, though the toolbar varies.
- Check your Android version: Samsung Kazakhstan’s regional support guidance says Samsung Keyboard language downloads have been unavailable on Android 6 and below since July 31, 2022. Samsung suggests considering another keyboard, such as Gboard, for those older devices; check current compatibility for your particular model before installing an alternative. Samsung Kazakhstan’s input-language guide gives version-specific routes, including legacy menus.
Using a physical keyboard with DeX
This is separate from enabling Korean for the on-screen keyboard. For a hardware keyboard used with DeX, first add Korean in Samsung Keyboard settings. Then open Settings > General management > Physical keyboard, select the input language, and choose a layout supported by Android. Depending on the keyboard’s shortcut settings, Samsung lists Shift + Space, Control + Space, and Left Alt + Shift as language-switch shortcuts. Samsung’s DeX guidance covers physical-keyboard setup.
