How do I download music to Rekordbox?
Rekordbox is primarily a music-library and DJ-performance application. Its official documentation describes importing audio files, but does not establish an in-app storefront for buying general music downloads. Obtain the files separately from a legitimate source, then import them into Rekordbox.

There are two distinct ways to work with music:

Choose local files if you need tracks for a supported export workflow. Choose streaming only if the service and your intended use meet your needs; a service’s cached or offline playback is not the same as an exportable audio file.

How do I add downloaded songs to Rekordbox on Mac or Windows?
- Keep the files in a stable folder. Avoid moving or renaming them after importing unless you are prepared to relocate them in Rekordbox. Its FAQ treats missing tracks as files that need to be relocated or removed from Collection.
- Import one file: choose File > Import > Import Track, then select the audio file.
- Import a folder: choose File > Import > Import Folder, then select the folder containing the files.
- Check Collection. The official ver. 7.2.14 manual says the track is added to Collection and its tag information is loaded. Analysis starts only when Auto Analysis is enabled.
- Check your target equipment before export. Supported audio formats vary by DJ equipment, so consult the compatibility information for your exact player or controller model.
The menu labels above are documented for Rekordbox ver. 7.2.14; labels may change in later releases.

Can I download songs from Spotify to Rekordbox?
Do not treat a streaming-service track as a downloaded, owned audio file. Rekordbox streaming integrations provide access under the service’s terms; they do not turn the streamed catalog into local files that you can export to a USB drive or SD card. Service support can depend on Rekordbox version, region, and plan. The current FAQ notes Spotify playlist and Collection behavior beginning with ver. 7.2.16, and warns that a service being available in a region does not guarantee Rekordbox support there. Check the current Rekordbox compatibility information and the service’s own terms before relying on a particular integration.
Why can’t I export my streaming tracks to USB?
Rekordbox’s FAQ says streaming-service tracks cannot be used in EXPORT mode and cannot be exported to USB storage or SD cards. Use local audio files for workflows that require exporting to supported hardware. The exact file formats supported still depend on the equipment.

Offline playback rules also vary by service. For example, Rekordbox’s FAQ says SoundCloud Go+ tracks cannot be played offline. That service-specific statement should not be assumed to describe every integration or current plan.

Rekordbox’s mobile operation FAQ documents importing tracks from smartphone files or connected external storage. On the library-selection screen, choose File to select tracks from the device or storage.

The FAQ also documents two ways to transfer an existing library:
- Mobile Library Sync: sync using a computer and mobile device connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Cloud Library Sync: upload and download library content through the documented cloud-sync workflow.
These are library-transfer options, not methods for converting streamed catalog tracks into exportable local files.

What should I check before using a track in a DJ set?
- Rights and terms: confirm that your source allows the use you intend. Rekordbox’s FAQ says public playback depends on your streaming-service contract and the copyright laws of each country and international conventions; requirements are not universal.
- File compatibility: verify that the audio format works with the specific DJ equipment you will use.
- File location: keep local files in a stable location so Rekordbox can find them.
- Export requirements: distinguish local files from tracks accessed through a streaming integration; streaming tracks cannot be exported to USB or SD media under the cited FAQ.
- Backups: keep a separate copy of local music files and your library data where appropriate, rather than relying on the Rekordbox Collection entry alone.
