To add commands such as !rules or !schedule to YouTube Live chat, connect a chatbot that supports YouTube, create a custom command in its dashboard, and activate it. In StreamElements, the bot must be added as a channel moderator and can join only when your stream is public and live.
How YouTube Live chat commands work
A chatbot watches live chat for a command trigger and posts the response you configure. StreamElements’ documentation identifies its chatbot as supporting YouTube Live and custom commands. StreamElements chatbot documentation

Set up StreamElements for YouTube Live

Start a public YouTube live stream. StreamElements says the bot cannot join a private or unlisted stream and must wait until the channel is live.

Confirm that the bot has joined the live chat before testing a command.
Create and activate a custom command

Open the StreamElements bot command dashboard and select Custom commands.

Choose Add new command, then enter the command name and the response you want the bot to post. For example, a

Choose a response type if appropriate. StreamElements lists Say, Mention, Reply, and Whisper.

Set any advanced options you need, then select Activate command. StreamElements describes aliases, cooldowns, loyalty-point costs, and conditions such as running only while live as available controls.

In the public live chat, enter the command exactly as configured and check that the bot responds. The bot’s public-and-live joining requirement means an offline, private, or unlisted stream is not a valid test.

Use command controls to keep responses helpful rather than repetitive or open to unwanted changes. StreamElements documents access controls and cooldowns, as well as optional loyalty-point costs and conditions. Keep chat-side command management restricted appropriately: its command reference describes moderator access for management commands. StreamElements command reference
That reference also describes managing commands in chat with !command or !cmd. Its add syntax is !command add !<command_name> <response_text>. Use the dashboard flow above if you prefer to create and activate commands there.

Other chatbot option: Nightbot
Nightbot is another option for YouTube chat. Its official setup page says it joins YouTube only while the channel is public and live, attributing the restriction to YouTube API rate limits. Nightbot setup documentation
The available Nightbot setup information establishes that joining requirement, but not its command-creation steps or feature parity with StreamElements. Consult Nightbot’s own command documentation for its current dashboard workflow rather than assuming the controls are identical.

The bot has not joined: make sure the stream is public and live, then confirm that StreamElements was added as a moderator in YouTube Studio’s Community settings.

The command gets no response: check that the command is activated and that the trigger you typed matches its configured name. Test only after the bot has joined chat.

A command is being overused: adjust its cooldown or access controls, or add a condition so it runs only in the circumstances you intend.
