How to add the URL and date to a screenshot

Open the tool’s export or capture settings and find its URL/date option. GoFullPage documents the PDF setting “Add URL and date/time.” Awesome Screenshot documents “Add Date and URL at the top of a screenshot” for local mode. Choose a date or date-and-time format. GoFullPage lists Date, Date & Time, ISO, and None; its guide says the stamp follows the geographical location set in the browser. If the report will be read in different time zones, use an explicit zone or a consistent, unambiguous format where available.

Export to the format the client needs, such as an image or PDF, and inspect that exported file rather than relying on the extension preview. The result can differ by tool and workflow.

Confirm that the URL identifies the captured page, the date/time is visible and legible, and the stamp does not obscure material content. Retain the delivered file according to the client’s confidentiality and recordkeeping requirements.
Choose a workflow that fits the report
Check where the stamp appears
A URL and date may be embedded at the top or bottom of an image, shown beneath a hosted capture, or stamped into a PDF. Confirm the placement in the exported deliverable. Awesome Screenshot documents both local mode and a cloud-view mode; its help page says the URL is hidden by default on a shareable link unless viewer access is enabled. Check the selected workflow against your client’s data-handling rules.

Make the timestamp understandable
A browser-local time can be ambiguous to a distributed team. GoFullPage’s guide says its timestamp depends on browser geography and lists an ISO option. FullPage Capture describes an Evidence mode with exact time and time zone. Check the relevant product settings rather than assuming every tool records time the same way.
Match the export to the evidence you need
Decide whether the report needs a PNG or JPEG, one long page, or printable PDF pages. FullPage Capture documents long-page and paper-size PDF options, smart page breaks, and optional URL/date stamping in its PDF export documentation. Regardless of the choice, check the actual delivered file for readable stamps and a usable layout.
Understand what a hash or timestamp proves
A checksum can help detect later changes to captured pixels, but it is not by itself an independent trusted timestamp or certification. Site-Shot says its default captures lack an independent trusted timestamp and disclaims being a court or certification authority in its methodology. A visible date and URL improve traceability; they do not automatically certify a screenshot or establish legal admissibility.

Automate screenshots without assuming the stamp is automatic
For automated capture, Cloudflare Browser Run documents a screenshot endpoint that can render a page and capture the full page or a selected element. Its screenshot endpoint documentation establishes a capture route, not automatic client-ready URL/date stamping. Confirm separately how your workflow adds metadata and exports the final report file.

Troubleshoot common problems
The URL or date does not appear

Check that the stamp option is enabled in the mode you used; a PDF export setting may not affect an image capture, and local and cloud workflows may differ.

Inspect the exported file, not only the preview or share page. Some tools place the URL in a different location or hide it on hosted links by default.
The time looks wrong or unclear

Check the browser’s geographical or time-zone settings if the tool uses browser-local time. Where available, select a consistent format and specify the time zone for readers in other regions.

The stamp covers page content or is hard to read

Review the placement and legibility in the exported output. If it obscures material content, change the tool’s placement or export layout before delivering the report.
The automated capture has no client-ready metadata

Treat capture and stamping as separate steps unless the tool’s documentation confirms it adds URL/date metadata. Verify the final report file after both steps.
