To show top supporters on a live stream, create a leaderboard or supporter-label widget with a platform-compatible provider, then add it to your streaming scene. In OBS, the usual route is a provider’s Browser source; in Streamlabs Desktop, you can add a Stream Label source. OBS does not process donations itself, so the provider or platform integration must supply the support-event data.
Choose what the leaderboard should show
Start by deciding which support event you want to recognize—such as tips, subscriptions, memberships, Bits, Super Chats, or charity donations—and confirm that your provider supports that event on your platform. A widget that tracks one event should not be assumed to include every kind of support across Twitch, YouTube, Kick, or other services.

Also choose the display type. A persistent supporter label, a ranked top-donor list, a recent-supporter feed, and a goal bar are different things. For example, a goal bar shows progress toward a target; it is not automatically a ranking. Streamlabs lists distinct goal widgets for tips, Twitch or Kick subscriptions, YouTube memberships, Twitch Bits, YouTube Super Chats, and charity donations, but that list describes goal widgets rather than a universal leaderboard for all those events. Check the provider’s current documentation for supported events and ranking periods.
Add a supporter display in Streamlabs Desktop
- Add the source: In Streamlabs Desktop, add a Stream Label source to the scene where the display should appear.
- Choose the label: Give the source a recognizable name, select the label type, and customize its appearance. Streamlabs documentation identifies labels such as top tip and highest donor.
- Place and review it: Resize and position the label so it is legible without covering important content. Confirm that the scene containing it is the scene you intend to use live.
Add a provider widget to OBS
OBS Studio does not itself receive donations. A third-party provider or platform fundraising integration handles the event and can supply an alert or widget for display. The OBS Project states, “The OBS Project does not directly provide the facilities to receive donations for your stream in OBS Studio.” (OBS Project, donation FAQ; dated 2022-10-07.)

- Create the widget with the provider: Sign in to the provider and choose the appropriate supporter, donor, or leaderboard widget. Confirm the event, platform, and ranking period it uses.
- Copy its widget URL: Use the URL supplied in the provider dashboard. Treat it as private: do not show the widget URL on stream.
- Add it in OBS: In the target scene, click the plus button in Sources, choose Browser, paste the widget URL, and set a suitable width and height.
- Arrange the overlay: Resize and position the Browser source in the scene. Check that text is readable and does not obscure gameplay, captions, or other important content.
Use StreamLabels text files in other streaming software
If your broadcasting application can display text from a file, Streamlabs’ StreamLabels app offers another route. Install and sign in to StreamLabels, choose an output folder, and add a text source in your broadcasting software that reads the relevant generated file. Keep StreamLabels running: Streamlabs says its text files need the app to remain open to update in real time.
Test the display before going live
There is no single standardized leaderboard test procedure across providers, so verify the behavior your chosen widget promises before relying on it during a live broadcast.

- Confirm that the selected support event updates the correct name, total, or rank.
- Check the exact scene where the source is placed and verify its size and legibility.
- Ensure the provider URL, private dashboard details, or other sensitive setup information are not visible.
- For a text-file source, confirm that StreamLabels is running and that the displayed text changes as expected.
- Check audio and video before a fundraising stream; the MDA streaming guide recommends checking both.

- Display behavior: Is it ranked, recent, a persistent label, or a goal total?
- Integration: Does it connect to the platform and provider account you use?
- Source type: Is it a native source, Browser widget, or text-file source?
- Maintenance: Does the source need an app running, and will it be present in every scene where you want it?
Fundraising displays can also be tied to a particular campaign setup rather than a general creator-tip widget. The American Red Cross Streamlabs Charity guide and the MDA guide describe specific fundraising examples, not universal instructions or compatibility guarantees.
