You can show a Super Chat goal in one of two ways: use YouTube’s built-in goal controls, or add a separate Streamlabs widget to your broadcast scene. The native goal does not require an overlay. Choose it if YouTube’s own display is enough; use the Streamlabs route if you want the goal rendered in Streamlabs Desktop or OBS.
Choose the native goal or an on-stream widget

YouTube’s goal feature requires Super Chat to be turned on and your channel to be eligible for Super Chat. YouTube documents goals for supported live formats and Premieres; availability and controls can vary by format and may change as the feature rolls out. Check the controls shown in your current YouTube Studio or live setup.

Set a native Super Chat goal on YouTube
- Check eligibility and enable Super Chat. Confirm that Super Chat is available and turned on for your channel. YouTube’s eligibility guidance determines whether your channel can use it.
- Start your stream or Premiere. YouTube describes setting a goal from live chat or Live Control Room after the stream begins. The available formats and controls may differ.
- Open the goal controls. On mobile, YouTube’s general instructions describe selecting the bullseye icon. Use the controls actually offered in your live setup; YouTube’s example flow is not necessarily identical for every Super Chat goal screen.
- Set the goal details. Enter the target and timer, and add a short description if the controls offer it. Review the details before selecting Start goal.
- Monitor the goal in YouTube. Viewers can purchase Super Chats that contribute to the goal on mobile and web. YouTube currently describes goals across horizontal live streams and Premieres, and says they are available on desktop and mobile live streams and mobile vertical live streams; check your account’s live controls for current availability.
Add a Streamlabs Super Chat Goal to Streamlabs Desktop or OBS
This is an optional broadcast-scene overlay, separate from YouTube’s native goal. Streamlabs says its widget tracks YouTube Super Chats and can be customized, including its fonts and colors.

- Connect YouTube. Sign in to Streamlabs.com and connect or sign in with your YouTube account.
- Configure the widget. Open All Widgets and choose Super Chat Goal. Set the goal name, amount, end time, and visual settings, then save.
- Add it in Streamlabs Desktop. In Streamlabs Desktop, add a source and select Super Chat Goal under Widgets.
- Or add it in OBS. Open the Super Chat Goal widget in Streamlabs, copy its widget URL, then in OBS add a Browser Source and paste the URL.
- Check the scene before going live. Confirm the widget is visible and positioned as intended. Treat the widget URL as private: Streamlabs warns against showing or sharing it publicly.
Streamlabs also describes advanced customization using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You do not need that customization to follow the basic setup above.

Rules and expectations for goals
- YouTube allows only one active goal at a time. Once it is reached, you can start another.
- A purchase does not guarantee the goal will be achieved or that you will celebrate it. Viewers are buying digital goods, not the goal itself.
- YouTube advises creators not to use goals to raise money for specific items or expenses.
Troubleshooting
You cannot find YouTube’s goal controls
Check that Super Chat is enabled and available to your channel, and that your stream format is currently supported. YouTube’s goal controls appear after a stream begins; the exact location can differ between live setups.
The native goal is not showing in your broadcast scene
The native YouTube goal is displayed through YouTube’s live experience. If you want a separate on-stream graphic in your scene, configure the Streamlabs widget and add it as a source.

The Streamlabs widget is missing in OBS
Confirm that you added a Browser Source and pasted the Super Chat Goal widget URL. Recheck that the URL was copied from the configured widget and keep it private.
