To add a Game Server Login Token (GSLT) to an Unturned server, create a token for App ID 304930 at Steam’s game-server account page, then enter it as Login_Token in the server’s Browser configuration or through the server’s GSLT command. Stop the server before changing the setting, save it, and start the server again. A server without a GSLT runs anonymously and is hidden from Unturned’s Internet server list.

What a GSLT does in Unturned
A Game Server Login Token identifies your Unturned server to Steam’s game-server services. The token is tied to the Steam account that creates it and to Unturned’s Steam App ID, 304930. Adding it gives the server a non-anonymous Steam identity that allows it to appear in the Internet server list.

Without a GSLT, an Unturned server is anonymous. Anonymous servers are hidden from the Internet server list, so players generally cannot discover them through the normal public-server browser. A token does not replace the rest of your server configuration: ports, map, moderation settings, access controls and other options still belong in their usual places.
Before you create the token
Check the Steam account
The Steam account used to create a token must meet Steam’s eligibility requirements. It must:

- Have a qualifying registered phone number.
- Not be banned or limited.
If the account does not meet one of those conditions, Steam may not let you create a usable game-server account. Use the account that actually owns the game rather than creating a token from a different, restricted or unverified account.
Plan one token for each server
Every server needs its own unique token. Do not paste one token into several independent servers. If you operate multiple servers, create a separate game-server account for each one and use the memo field to identify it, such as Unturned-EU-01 or Unturned-Test.
A Steam account can hold up to 1,000 GSLT keys. That is an account-level limit; it does not mean a single token can authenticate 1,000 servers.
Protect the value as you would a password
A GSLT is a credential. Keep it out of public chat, screenshots, issue reports and configuration files that are shared with other people. Give access only to administrators who need to operate the server. You can view the token again from the Steam account-management page, but exposing it can allow someone else to use that server identity.

Create an Unturned GSLT key on Steam
- Sign in to the Steam account that owns Unturned and satisfies the account requirements.
- Open https://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers.
- Scroll to Create a new game server account.
- Enter 304930 in the App ID field. This is Unturned’s Steam App ID.
- Enter a memo that tells you which server the token belongs to. A simple value such as
UnturnedServeris sufficient for one server; a location and purpose are more useful when you run several. - Select Create.
- Copy the displayed Login Token and store it in a secure password manager or another private administrative record.
Do not substitute a different App ID. A token created for another game is not an Unturned token, even if it appears in the same Steam account-management interface.
Add the token through a hosting panel
Most game-server control panels provide a dedicated login-token field. The label is not universal: it may say GSLT, Login Token, Steam Login Token or something similar. The field name and its location depend on the panel, so use the field that explicitly refers to the Steam game-server login token rather than a general Steam account password.

- Use the panel’s Stop or Power off action and wait until the server is fully stopped.
- Open the configuration, startup or game-settings page that contains the login-token field.
- Paste the complete token exactly as Steam displayed it. Do not add quotation marks, spaces, comments or line breaks.
- Save or apply the setting.
- Start or restart the server.
- After startup completes, check the public server browser from a separate client and confirm that the server is listed.
Stopping first matters because a running process can overwrite a file when it shuts down, undoing a change made while the server was online. If the panel offers both a configuration field and a startup-variable field, use the one documented by that panel for Unturned and avoid entering the same token in several places unless the panel explicitly requires it.
Add the token on a self-managed server
On a server you manage directly, Unturned supports the token as Login_Token in the Browser section of the server configuration. The exact configuration filename is version-dependent; older guides commonly refer to Config.json, while another file may be used by the version you run. Do not assume that an old path is correct for a current installation.

- Stop the Unturned server process cleanly.
- Locate the active server configuration file for that installation and version. If more than one Unturned installation exists on the machine, verify that you are editing the directory used by the startup command.
- Open the configuration and find the Browser section.
- Add or edit the
Login_Tokenvalue and paste the token as a string. Preserve the file’s existing JSON punctuation and indentation. - Save the file without changing unrelated settings.
- Start the server using your normal service, script or launcher.
- Review the startup output and then search for the server from an external Unturned client.
If your installation does not expose a Browser section in the file you found, stop and identify the configuration file actually loaded by that server version. Creating a second file with the right-looking name will not help if the process never reads it.
Using Commands.dat or a startup command
The token can also be supplied with Unturned’s GSLT command in Commands.dat or in the server’s startup command. The precise command syntax and argument format can vary with the Unturned version and the launcher or service wrapper, so use the syntax documented for the exact build you run. The important value is the same Steam Login Token generated for App ID 304930.

If a hosting panel generates a startup command automatically, editing a separate file may be ineffective because the panel can regenerate the command at the next restart.

Verify that the token is active
Check the server’s launch result
Start the server and watch its console, service log or panel status. The process should reach its normal running state without a configuration parse error. A malformed JSON edit can prevent the server from starting; if that happens, restore the last known-good configuration and reapply only the token line with the correct punctuation.

Search from outside the server machine
Use Unturned’s Internet server browser from a client that is not relying on the local machine’s cached listing. Search by the server name, map or other distinctive setting. The purpose of this check is to verify public discovery, not merely that the process is running.
Confirm the right token and account
If the server starts but remains absent, return to Steam’s game-server management page and confirm that the token belongs to the account that owns Unturned and was created with App ID 304930. Compare the stored value character by character. A token from another game, a truncated paste or an extra space is not equivalent to the original value.

Troubleshoot a server that is not in the Internet list
The server is running but invisible
- Verify that a GSLT is actually configured. A server with no token is anonymous and is hidden from the Internet list.
- Check that the token was created with App ID 304930.
- Confirm that the token is entered as
Login_Tokenunder Browser, or supplied through the supported GSLT command for that installation. - Stop and restart after saving. A live process may still be using its previous configuration.
- Make sure the edited file is the one loaded by the running installation, especially when multiple server directories or versions are present.
- Use the exact token assigned to this server. Reusing another server’s token defeats the one-token-per-server requirement.
The panel does not show a field
Panel interfaces are provider-specific. Look in startup parameters, game settings and advanced configuration rather than assuming the field is under general account settings. If the panel supplies a generated command line, that command is the authoritative place to inspect. Do not publish the token while asking the provider for help; redact the value and include only the field name, server version and relevant error message.
The token is rejected or has no effect
- Check the Steam account’s eligibility: ownership of Unturned, a qualifying registered phone number, and no ban or limitation.
- Regenerate the paste from Steam’s management page by copying the complete Login Token again.
- Remove accidental quotation marks or whitespace unless the configuration format specifically requires quoting a string.
- Ensure that a second configuration source is not overriding the value at launch.
- Restart after every correction and test the public listing again.
The server stopped after editing the file
This usually indicates a syntax or path problem rather than a problem with Steam itself. Restore the previous file, start the server to confirm recovery, then make a minimal edit in the active configuration. Keep a backup before changing the Browser section, and alter only the Login_Token value until the server starts normally.
Replacing, moving or revoking a token
Treat each token as belonging to the server identity for which it was created. When moving a server to a new machine, use the same token only if it remains the same logical server and the token has not been exposed. Copy it securely, update the new installation, stop the old process and then start the new one to avoid two independent servers claiming the same identity.
If a token has been posted publicly or given to someone who should no longer have access, use Steam’s game-server management page to manage that key and create a replacement as appropriate. Update the server configuration with the replacement before restarting. Because each server requires a unique token, do not solve an exposed credential by copying an unrelated server’s token.

What to expect after setup
A successful setup means the server starts with the token supplied through one supported configuration path and can be discovered in the Internet server list. The token does not guarantee that every player can connect: network reachability, firewall rules, server capacity, moderation settings and other operational conditions remain separate concerns. The GSLT specifically addresses the server’s Steam identity and public-list visibility.
