Set GrabzIt’s delay option in milliseconds: 3000 waits three seconds, while the REST API documents a default of 0 and a maximum of 30000 milliseconds. If you are waiting for specific content to appear, use GrabzIt’s CSS-selector element wait instead of choosing an arbitrary long delay.
Set a fixed delay in milliseconds
A fixed delay tells GrabzIt to wait a specified time before capturing. The support documentation uses 3000 as a three-second example and explains that 1000 milliseconds equal one second. In the REST API, the parameter is named delay; its documented default is 0 and its maximum is 30000 milliseconds. See GrabzIt’s wait-before-capture support article and REST API documentation.

Use a delay long enough for the content you need, but not longer without reason. GrabzIt warns that a large delay can reduce a capture’s priority when captures are queued.
Wait for content with a CSS selector
If a particular element signals that the page is ready, an element wait can be more appropriate than estimating a number of seconds. Inspect the page in browser developer tools, identify a CSS selector for the element that appears with the needed content, then pass that selector using the wait-for-element option. GrabzIt proceeds when a matching element becomes visible; if several elements match, visibility of one is enough. In the REST API, the parameter is waitfor, with a documented maximum wait of 25 seconds.

The fixed delay and element wait use different triggers: elapsed time versus visibility of a selected element. GrabzIt also allows an element wait to be followed by an additional delay, useful when the target element appears before its content or animation is fully settled. The REST limits are distinct: delay can be up to 30 seconds, while waitfor can wait up to 25 seconds.
Choose the right wait strategy

These triggers are not a guarantee that every third-party script has finished. Choose an element that represents the content you actually need, and verify the resulting capture.

Apply the option in your GrabzIt client
GrabzIt’s client libraries expose the same idea with naming that varies by language: Delay, setDelay, or delay. Follow the method signature in the documentation for your specific client. For browser JavaScript, GrabzIt’s support example passes { "delay": 3000 } to ConvertURL(...).Create(); the REST example supplies delay=3000. The support page includes examples for .NET, Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Perl, PHP, REST, and Ruby.

Account for capture timing and retrieval
A delay controls when capture occurs; it does not determine how you receive or save the result. GrabzIt’s Node.js documentation distinguishes asynchronous saving through a callback URL from synchronous saving with save_to. Keep those retrieval choices separate from the delay setting.
GrabzIt also describes an Accelerated Delay option: its browsers can simulate the passage of time so JavaScript or animations trigger while consuming less real time. The documentation says this optimization does not apply to MP4 or DOCX captures, which require the full real-time duration.

Common problems and fixes
- The capture is still too early: Increase the fixed delay only if the content is consistently late, or use an element selector that becomes visible when the required content is ready.
- The REST request waits longer than expected: Confirm you are setting
delayin milliseconds, not seconds. For example, three seconds is3000. - The element wait never appears to finish: Check that the CSS selector matches an element on the captured page and that it becomes visible rather than remaining hidden. The REST
waitforlimit is 25 seconds. - Captures are queued or slower to be prioritized: Avoid an unnecessarily large fixed delay; GrabzIt warns that a large delay can reduce priority in a queue.
- Your Application Key is exposed: Do not make REST API calls containing that key from browser-side code. Use the JavaScript API for client-side capture instead.
- The Node.js result seems unavailable when capture starts: Check whether your saving flow is asynchronous via callback URL or synchronous via
save_to; these govern retrieval, not the delay value.
