In OBS Studio, put your Yoga Nidra program and break screen in separate scenes, then use a scene hotkey or Studio Mode to switch between them. For an automatic interval, use a timer script and test a complete countdown-to-break-to-return cycle before going live. If the countdown itself is a prerecorded clip, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop if it should repeat.
Build the Yoga Nidra and break scenes
Create a scene for each part of the stream

In OBS Studio, create a scene for the Yoga Nidra program and a second scene for the break. Give them clear names, such as Yoga Nidra and Break. A scene is a layout of sources, so the two scenes can present different visuals.

In the Break scene, add an Image source for the background. Size and position it in the preview, then add text or an image overlay for the break message or countdown. Check the source order: the overlay should sit above the background.

Choose what the countdown looks like
You can use a pre-rendered countdown video as a Media Source. OBS Media Source supports common local video and audio formats. Its Loop option is off by default, so turn it on when you want that clip to repeat. If the countdown should play once and then give way to the break screen, leave looping off and use a scene switch at the intended point.
A timer script is another option if you want an on-screen timer or an automated expiry action. Its exact setup depends on the script and its version; follow that resource’s configuration instructions rather than assuming every timer script uses the same controls.
Switch scenes manually or automate the interval
Manual switching: Studio Mode or a hotkey
For an operator-controlled stream, use Studio Mode to prepare the next scene and transition it to the live output when the countdown ends. Alternatively, assign a hotkey to switch to a specific scene. This makes the transition deliberate, but someone must be available to trigger it.
Before the session, confirm which scene is live and which is being prepared. Practice the transition in both directions so you know how to return from the break to the Yoga Nidra program.
Automatic switching: a timer script
A timer script can be configured to start under conditions such as streaming starting, a chosen scene becoming active, or a timer text source becoming visible. Depending on the script, its expiry action may switch or cycle scenes or sources.
Configuration is version-specific. The timer resource’s version 5.8 update, dated February 15, 2024, notes that some expiry lists require source or scene names to be entered manually. It also warns that a list containing only one source or scene will not reset the timer. Check the instructions for the version you install and test its reset and expiry behavior in your own OBS setup.

Separate timers and scene-switcher plugins
A 2019 community-forum reply suggested using separate scenes with their own timers and a scene-switcher plugin to alternate periods. That is a community suggestion, not confirmation that a particular plugin will work with a current OBS or plugin release. Verify compatibility and test it before relying on it for a live session.
Rehearse the full countdown, break, and return
Do a complete run-through before the first live session. OBS recommends testing scene configuration and stream operation before going live. Check each of these points:

The countdown begins at the intended time and is visible at the size and position you expect.

The break scene appears when the countdown ends, whether the switch is manual or automated.

The Yoga Nidra media behaves as intended when you leave its scene and return to it.

If you use a script, its start condition, expiry action, and reset behavior work together. Test again after changing scene or source names.
Troubleshooting
The countdown clip stops instead of repeating
Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop. Loop is off by default for a Media Source. If you do not want a repeated countdown, keep Loop off and arrange a deliberate transition after the clip finishes.
The break background covers the text
Check the order of sources in the Break scene. Put the background below the text or transparent graphic so the overlay is visible.

Check the script’s configured start condition and expiry action. A timer that starts when a scene becomes active behaves differently from one that starts when streaming begins. Confirm that the names in any manually entered scene or source list match the ones in OBS, and test the script’s reset behavior.
The stream does not return to the Yoga Nidra scene
Check the expiry action or the manual hotkey assigned for the return. For an automated cycle, make sure the script has the scenes or sources it needs to alternate between; a one-item expiry list may not reset the timer in the documented version 5.8 behavior.
