Bethesda’s update notes describe it as a customizable arena for building demon encounters; they do not confirm “Slaughter Mode” as an official menu label or alternate name. The base Ripatorium is distinct from additional content that unlocks after completing the Revelations expansion’s Master Arenas.
Where is Slaughter Mode?
Look for the Ripatorium, the custom combat arena introduced in Bethesda’s Update 2. “Slaughter Mode” is an unverified name, so searching the game’s menus for that exact phrase may not help. Bethesda’s Update 2 release notes, dated August 7, 2025, call the Ripatorium an endless arena where players set up their own combat encounters through a menu.

How do I access the base Ripatorium?

Update the game. The Ripatorium was added in Update 2. Bethesda’s notes do not specify a required campaign-completion milestone for entering the base mode.

Open the Ripatorium. The official notes identify the mode and its Encounter Manager, but do not document an exact menu path or button sequence. Use the game’s menu to find the Ripatorium rather than relying on an undocumented sequence.

Choose an arena and configure the encounter. In the Encounter Manager, select demon types and quantities, choose whether enemies respawn, then set a time limit or turn on Endless mode.

Start the fight. The base mode offers three arenas: City of Ry’uul, Village of Khalim, and Harbor of Souls. A jukebox lets you select a DOOM: The Dark Ages music track for the encounter.

What changed in Ripatorium 2.0?
Bethesda’s Update 3 release notes, dated November 18, 2025, describe Ripatorium 2.0 as a round-based mode. You can configure up to five rounds, with up to 10 respawn waves per round, and give each round its own settings.

Use a preset: Medium, Challenging, and Sadistic presets are available and can be used with any difficulty level.

Try another player’s encounter: Passcode sharing is identified as beta. Select the corresponding round, then use the Enter New Passcode input at the bottom of the screen.

Does Revelations add more Ripatorium content?
Yes, but that content has a separate unlock condition. The official DOOM: The Dark Ages Steam announcement for Revelations says its Ripatorium content unlocks after you complete the Master Arenas. This is a gate for the expansion content, not a stated requirement for the base Ripatorium.

Which way should I play?

Choose a custom encounter when you want to control the demon lineup, quantities, respawns, and whether the fight is timed or endless.

Choose a preset when you want a ready-made setup rather than configuring each encounter. Update 3 names the Medium, Challenging, and Sadistic presets.

Use a passcode when you want to try an encounter shared by another player. The feature is beta, and the documented flow is to select the round and enter the code using the input at the bottom of the screen.
