You can accept crypto during a livestream by displaying a wallet address or QR code, sharing a hosted payment link, or using a streamer service that advertises crypto alerts. The right choice depends on who controls the funds, total fees, how payments are confirmed, whether an alert appears on screen, and whether the service supports your location. A payment does not automatically trigger a StreamElements or Streamlabs alert.
Choose how viewers will pay

Set up a wallet address or QR code
- Choose the wallet and asset. Use a wallet you control and decide which cryptocurrency and network you will accept. Make the asset and network explicit wherever you show payment instructions.
- Get the receiving address. Copy the address from the wallet for the chosen asset and network. Generate a QR code for that same address if you want viewers to scan it.
- Publish the instructions. Put the address or QR code in an overlay, a permitted profile or description location, or a chat command. State that viewers should check the asset and network before sending.
- Monitor incoming transfers. Check the relevant blockchain and decide what confirmation status you will treat as paid. Do not tell viewers a payment is complete merely because they say they sent it.
- Keep records and manage access. Protect wallet credentials, maintain a way to recover access, and track receipts and any later conversion or withdrawal.
This route can avoid a processor service fee, but it does not remove network costs or the work of watching for transfers, handling mistakes, and managing the wallet. A public receiving address can reveal its on-chain activity to anyone who looks it up.

Set up a hosted payment link
- Check provider fit first. Confirm that the provider supports your country, the assets and networks you want, and the payout method you can use.
- Review the full fee and custody model. Separate service fees, network fees, conversion spread, withdrawal charges, and any bank payout fee. Find out whether the provider holds funds before payout and how account recovery works.
- Create a payment page or link. Configure the available assets and payment instructions in the provider’s dashboard, then copy the resulting link or widget code.
- Test the viewer path and status flow. Establish what counts as paid, how underpayments and overpayments are treated, and what happens with delayed confirmations or a transfer sent on the wrong network.
- Place the link where viewers can reach it. Use allowed channel surfaces and explain what the link is for. Do not imply that YouTube has approved a payment destination simply because it appears in a description or chat.
A September 2026 creator guide reported a 1% NOWPayments service fee plus network fees. That is a dated secondary-source figure, not a guaranteed or universal current price; check the provider’s official pricing page before choosing it. A hosted link may provide status notices, but confirm separately whether it can produce an on-screen alert.

Make crypto payments appear as stream alerts
A payment notification and a scene alert are different things. The processor may report that a payment was initiated or confirmed without sending anything to the overlay software. There are two broad approaches:

- Use a service that advertises built-in crypto alerts. Streamiverse’s product page advertises cryptocurrency donations and overlays or notifications. These are vendor claims; verify supported coins, fees, custody, payout timing, and availability before relying on the service.
- Connect a processor to an alert platform. A processor can send payment events to an endpoint, and an integration can pass a qualifying event to a streamer alert tool. A September 2026 creator guide describes signed IPN notifications and a StreamElements or Streamlabs API route. Treat that as a general integration outline, not ready-to-run setup instructions: check current developer documentation for authentication, event signatures, confirmation logic, and alert behavior.
YouTube’s listing confirms that StreamElements provides overlays and a tipping system; it does not establish that StreamElements natively accepts cryptocurrency. Do not promise viewers that a crypto transfer will trigger a StreamElements or Streamlabs alert unless your specific, current integration has been verified.
Check platform rules and link visibility
YouTube’s external-links policy applies to links in livestreams and other YouTube surfaces. It prohibits links to content that violates YouTube policy and includes phishing destinations among its examples. A payment link is not exempt simply because it is used for tips.

Compare costs, custody, and payment handling
- All-in cost: Count provider fees, network costs, conversion spread, withdrawal fees, and payout charges rather than comparing one headline percentage. Fees and supported networks can change.
- Who holds the funds: Establish whether funds go straight to a wallet you control or sit with a service until withdrawal. Set up account security and recovery before accepting meaningful amounts.
- Confirmation and errors: Check the service’s rules for confirmations, underpayments, overpayments, wrong-network transfers, and delayed transactions. Do not describe every crypto transfer as instantly final; use the provider’s actual policy.
- Privacy: Consider whether using a personal or reused public address could expose other on-chain activity.
- Geography and compliance: Confirm availability and local requirements for your location and audience. The UK Fundraising Regulator’s guidance on crypto donations is directed at charities, not individual creators, and notes that legal treatment is evolving.
As a platform-specific example only, Chaturbate’s support page, updated September 16, 2025, lists a $200 minimum crypto payout and fees for BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC payouts, plus variable network fees. Those are Chaturbate creator payout terms, not a general rate for accepting livestream tips through a payment processor.

PayPal’s developer page, updated September 14, 2026, describes Pay with Crypto for US merchants integrating through PayPal for Business or Platforms with Orders V2, with settlement in local currency. That describes a business checkout option, not a turnkey livestream tipping overlay; check integration suitability before treating it as one.
Keep personal tips separate from charity fundraising
A creator’s personal tip and money raised for a stated charitable purpose are not interchangeable. Stripe’s published requirements distinguish tips relating to goods or services provided from donations tied to a specific charitable purpose; rules and availability vary by jurisdiction. YouTube Giving is a separate feature for eligible creators and nonprofits, not a crypto-wallet route. YouTube says it covers transaction fees so 100% of donations go to the eligible nonprofit. Review the applicable terms before describing a stream as a charity fundraiser.

Troubleshoot common problems
- A viewer says they paid, but you cannot find the transfer: Ask them to verify the asset, network, address, and transaction ID. Check the corresponding chain and the wallet’s confirmation status; do not mark the payment received based only on a message.
- A transfer went to the wrong network or asset: Do not promise recovery. Check the wallet or provider’s documented recovery process; recovery may not be possible.
- The payment appears, but no alert shows: Determine whether the payment is confirmed, whether the processor sent an event, and whether the alert integration accepted it. Check current webhook/API configuration and logs rather than assuming the alert software supports crypto natively.
- The link is not clickable for some viewers: YouTube says links in the mobile vertical live feed are not clickable. Provide an alternate permitted route, such as a channel description viewers can open separately.
- A supporter cannot use the provider: Check the provider’s supported countries, assets, networks, and payout methods; availability should not be inferred from a working link in another region.
- The payout is less than expected: Reconcile provider charges, network fees, conversion spread, and withdrawal or payout fees against the service’s current terms.
