Start listening for the chooser before triggering it, then pass the file paths to accept(). Pair the wait and the click with Promise.all so the chooser event cannot fire before Puppeteer is ready.
Accept a file chooser opened by a page interaction
Use page.waitForFileChooser() before the action that opens the picker. Puppeteer’s documented pattern is:

What each step does
waitForFileChooser()registers for the next chooser event. It must be called before the picker launches; it does not return one that is already open. Puppeteer API: Page.waitForFileChooser()page.click()triggers the site’s upload control. It may be a visible button that activates a hidden file input.accept(paths)supplies the file or files to select. Puppeteer does not verify that the paths exist, so check them in your test setup.
Choose between chooser interception and direct file upload

Paths, multiple files, and chooser handling
- Relative paths passed to
accept()resolve against the current working directory. Prefer absolute paths when the test environment or working directory could vary. - When using remote Chrome, the paths must be absolute and accessible in the environment where the browser can read them.
- Use
fileChooser.isMultiple()if your test needs to know whether the page allows multiple selections. Supply the intended paths toaccept(). - Accept or cancel each chooser. Only one can be open at a time; an unresolved chooser blocks subsequent ones. Puppeteer API: FileChooser
Timeouts and common failures
waitForFileChooser() accepts wait options. Puppeteer’s general wait options document a 30-second default, adjustable through page timeout configuration, and support an abort signal. Set a timeout appropriate to the application; the API references do not specify a universal timeout for file uploads. Puppeteer API: WaitTimeoutOptions

Do not confuse a file chooser with a JavaScript dialog
A file picker is a Puppeteer FileChooser, handled with Page.waitForFileChooser() and FileChooser.accept(paths). A JavaScript alert, confirm, or prompt is a Dialog; Dialog.accept() handles that dialog and may take prompt text, but it does not select files. Puppeteer API: Dialog
