The build combines that radar with a Freenove FNK0103S board, an ESP32-WROOM-32E, a 4-inch ST7796 display and an XPT2046 resistive touchscreen. The exact wake distance, timing and firmware logic are not specified.
What the display does
The build pairs a weather display with presence-triggered screen wake. Its project description names the Hi-Link HLK-LD2410C radar and says the screen lights when someone is present. It does not identify the weather provider or explain whether the screen turns fully off, dims its backlight or enters another state. The project description should be treated as a description of the build, not a measured test of its behavior.

Unlike a motion-only trigger, the LD2410 family can report both moving and still targets. Firmware could use either state or combine them, but the project description does not say which presence signal wakes the display. It also gives no wake threshold, detection distance, clear-time delay, power draw or reliability results.

Connecting an LD2410 to ESPHome
ESPHome’s LD2410 component supports LD2410, LD2410B and LD2410C devices over UART. The documented UART configuration uses no parity and one stop bit. ESPHome recommends a hardware UART because the module’s default baud rate is 256000 baud.
Choose UART pins based on the exact ESP32 board and the other peripherals attached to it. The project’s display and touch controller also need connections, so do not assume pins from another ESP32 build will be available or suitable.

What presence data ESPHome can expose
The component can provide overall presence, moving-target and still-target states, along with distance and energy readings. Those options let firmware distinguish a moving person from someone who is stationary, but having the entities available does not establish which one this display uses to wake its screen.
Calibrating detection thresholds
ESPHome documents a calibration process using engineering mode and the sensor’s per-gate energy readings. This is a general configuration method, not evidence that the featured display was calibrated in a particular way.

- The weather station uses the ESP8266-12E to obtain data from the Internet: time of a city, weather data and forecast information for the next 3 days, scrolling on the SSD1306 OLED Display;
- The device can switch to display data from any city in the world - maybe your relatives or friends live there.
- The device uses sensors DHT11, BMP180, BH1750FVI to collect temperature, humidity, Atmosphetic Pressure and light data.
- The weather station reads data indoor via sensor every 5 seconds and uploads it to the Internet every 60 seconds.
- You can see real-time data charts from your phone or computer.Of course you can modify the code to implement different functions.
- Enable engineering mode in the LD2410 configuration.
- Monitor the
gX_move_energyandgX_still_energyreadings for the gates relevant to the space. - Adjust the moving and still thresholds, then repeat the observation and adjustment as needed.
- Disable engineering mode when calibration is complete.
Thresholds and resulting detection behavior depend on the installation and firmware configuration; the project description does not publish its values.
Choosing an LD2410 variant
Home Assistant’s LD2410 Bluetooth integration documentation notes that LD2410B and LD2410C versions have Bluetooth and that their boards differ in pin pitch: the C uses 2.54 mm pitch pins, while the B uses half-pitch pins. This is a sourcing and physical-connection detail, not a claim that the Bluetooth integration is required for an ESPHome UART setup.

The build description does not identify its weather source. In Home Assistant, a weather entity is supplied by an integration that gathers data from a weather service; the entity is a general building block rather than a particular provider. Home Assistant’s weather documentation explains that model, while its weather forecast card documentation covers forecast presentation in Home Assistant dashboards. Neither establishes that this ESP32 screen uses Home Assistant for its interface or weather feed.
