WriteStack can send a Substack Note to a connected Buffer account after the Note publishes on Substack. Buffer then queues it for distribution to channels you selected. To use the workflow, connect your Substack publication and Buffer account in WriteStack, select Buffer destinations, and choose those destinations when drafting or scheduling a Note.
What the WriteStack–Buffer connection does
The integration links two steps: WriteStack manages the Substack Note, and Buffer distributes it to selected social channels. Buffer’s integration listing says the Note is sent to Buffer’s queue after it has published on Substack. Buffer’s May 26, 2026 case study describes scheduling a Note in WriteStack and having it scheduled on Buffer as well. Read the sequence as Substack publication followed by Buffer queuing—not as evidence that this integration uses Buffer to publish the Note on Substack.

As Orel Zilberman, WriteStack’s founder, put it on Buffer’s API page: “Now WriteStack users can send any Substack note to social using Buffer.”

How to connect WriteStack to Buffer
- Sign up for WriteStack and connect your Substack account or publication.
- Open WriteStack settings and connect your Buffer account when prompted.
- In WriteStack, select the destination channels associated with your Buffer account.
- When drafting or scheduling a Substack Note, select the Buffer destinations where you want it distributed.
The integration listing describes the Note going to Buffer’s queue after Substack publication. Check that the intended destinations are selected in your WriteStack account; the listing does not guarantee that every Buffer channel is available in every WriteStack account.

When the Note reaches Buffer—and what happens next
The integration listing specifies that a Note is sent to Buffer’s queue after it has published on Substack. Buffer’s case study uses broader wording, saying a Note scheduled in WriteStack is also scheduled on Buffer. The clearest documented sequence for this integration is therefore Substack publication first, then Buffer queueing. The sources do not establish a precise delay or guarantee when Buffer will publish to each destination; check the queue and channel schedule in Buffer for the post’s status.
WriteStack-to-Buffer versus Buffer’s native Substack feature
These are different publishing directions. WriteStack’s integration sends a Note from Substack to other connected Buffer channels. Buffer also offers a native Substack channel that publishes Notes from Buffer to Substack at a chosen time, according to its Substack help article.

| Workflow | Direction | Timing | Documented content scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| WriteStack connected to Buffer | Substack Note to selected Buffer channels | The WriteStack integration listing says the Note enters Buffer’s queue after Substack publication. | Substack Notes selected for cross-posting; the listing does not specify every eligible content type or destination. |
| Buffer’s native Substack channel | Buffer to Substack | Publish a Note to Substack at a chosen time. | Notes only; Buffer says it does not publish long-form posts or newsletter issues, replies, or restacks. |
Buffer’s native channel also imports the 100 most recent Notes from a connected Substack channel for Insights, then picks up new Notes published directly on Substack. That import behavior is a Buffer-native feature; it does not establish that WriteStack imports Notes in the same way.
Which Buffer channels can you use?
Buffer’s API documentation lists Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Google Business Profiles, Mastodon, YouTube, Pinterest, and Bluesky as supported channels. This is Buffer’s general API channel list, not a promise that all of them appear as destinations in WriteStack. Use the channel selector in your WriteStack account to confirm which connected destinations are actually available.

Plans, access, and limits to keep in mind
Buffer says its GraphQL API is available on all Buffer plans, including Free, although API key and request limits vary. That fact alone does not establish WriteStack’s subscription requirements, integration eligibility, or pricing; confirm those details in the current WriteStack account or its official product information.
Buffer’s API documentation also describes constraints relevant to custom API integrations, not as setup requirements for the WriteStack connection: approval settings can save API-created posts as drafts when approval is required; the API does not support reading comments or replying to them; and media attached to API-created posts must remain at a publicly reachable URL until publication. If a WriteStack post behaves unexpectedly, check the actual WriteStack and Buffer settings rather than assuming these general API details explain it.
