The Clash of Clans API documents routes for a clan’s current war, war log, and Clan War League data, making it a possible source for a war simulator. Using it requires a developer-portal API token and careful handling of clan tags, pagination, and failed requests. Those endpoints establish what data a project may request; they do not, by themselves, establish what a particular simulator models or how accurately it predicts outcomes.
What the Clash of Clans API offers for a war simulator

These routes suggest a foundation for a tool that displays available war information or examines recorded war data. A route listing does not prove that every desired detail is exposed, nor does it explain how a simulator turns available fields into a scenario or prediction. The documentation is maintained in a secondary GitHub repository; check the Supercell developer portal for current documentation, access, and terms before relying on a route.

How to make an authenticated API request
The documentation says to create an API token through the developer portal and send it in an HTTP Authorization: Bearer header. Keep the token private, and avoid putting it in client-side code or public examples where others could copy it. The authentication introduction describes token use and request conventions.

A war-log request uses GET /clans/{clanTag}/warlog. A request URL combines that path with the API base URL and a clan tag. Tags include a leading hash, so the hash must be URL-encoded in the path: the documentation’s example converts #2ABC to %232ABC. For example, the path portion for that tag is /clans/%232ABC/warlog. Consult the war-log endpoint reference for its documented parameters.
Handle pagination and request failures
The war-log endpoint documents optional limit, after, and before parameters. List endpoints use pagination markers; the introduction says not to use after and before together. A simulator that retrieves history should follow the endpoint’s pagination rules rather than assume one response contains every relevant record.

Plan for requests that do not return usable war-log data. The endpoint reference lists these failure categories:
- 403: access or credential failure.
- 429: throttling, meaning the request rate has been limited.
- 404: the requested resource was not found.
- Service availability errors: the API may not be available to answer the request.
A robust client should distinguish these responses, avoid treating an error as an empty war, and recover appropriately—for example, by checking credentials for a 403 and slowing or retrying requests when suitable for throttling or temporary service problems. The endpoint reference documents the error categories, but exact retry timing is not established there.

What the API documentation does—and does not—tell you about simulation
Having current-war, war-log, and league routes is not the same as having every input needed for a complete simulator. A simulation’s scope depends on the data it actually retrieves and the rules its author implements. The available documentation establishes endpoint availability, not a particular project’s assumptions, algorithms, interface, testing, or predictive accuracy.
One participant in a Reddit AMA discussion reported their belief that individual attack information for regular wars was not available through the API. That is a participant’s report, not a current endpoint specification; verify the fields available in Supercell’s live documentation before designing around that limitation. The AMA thread also includes a general response from the official account that API improvements could help creators and clan communities.

So, can you build a Clash of Clans war simulator? The documented API gives developers war-related routes to investigate, but whether they support a specific simulation depends on current API access, available fields, and the project’s own implementation. The documentation alone cannot establish that a simulator has been built, released, or validated.
