How Texans Can Contact Their State Senators About an Impeachment Trial

Use the Texas Legislature’s address-based lookup to identify your senator and contact the office directly. The Ken Paxton impeachment trial concluded in September 2023.

Use the Texas Legislature’s Who Represents Me? service to find your state senator by street address, then contact that senator’s office through its listed email option, phone number, or mailing address. If you mean Attorney General Ken Paxton’s impeachment, that trial ended in September 2023; it is not an ongoing proceeding.

Find the senator who represents your address

  1. Open the Texas Legislature’s Who Represents Me? lookup and enter your street address. The Texas Senate FAQ directs constituents to this tool and notes that it requires a street address. If you need help with the process, see the Texas Senate FAQ.
  2. Use the result to identify your Texas Senate district and senator. The Senate’s 89th Legislature roster lists senators by district; its Membership Directory provides current office contact details.

Representation and contact information can change. The current roster lists 31 geographical districts and marks District 22 vacant, so check the live lookup and directory rather than relying on an old contact list.

Choose a contact method that reaches the senator’s office

Method What to know
Email Email is handled by each senator’s office individually. Some offices use a web form, and not all senators accept email. Start from the senator’s page in the member index.
Phone The full directory lists Capitol and district telephone numbers.
Mail The full directory lists mailing addresses and the counties each senator represents.

There is no single Senate-wide email address list; use the contact options published by the individual office. For a time-sensitive matter, call the office using a number in the directory.

Make your message specific and easy to route

Address your message to the senator’s office. Include your town or Senate district, identify the impeachment or policy matter you are writing about, and say what action or response you are asking for. Keep the request focused so staff can understand the issue quickly.

Do not use the website administrator form for constituent messages

The Senate’s Web Administrator Contact Form is for website support, not legislative or political messages. The Senate says submissions go only to the web administrator and cannot be forwarded to Senate offices. Use the senator’s own page, the directory’s phone number, or its mailing address instead.

If you mean the Ken Paxton impeachment trial

The Texas House adopted 20 articles of impeachment against Attorney General Warren Kenneth Paxton, Jr. on May 27, 2023. The Senate convened as a high court of impeachment on September 5, 2023; the case concluded with a judgment on September 16. The official Senate Court of Impeachment page links to the judgment, trial transcripts, and webcast archive. A message to a senator now cannot change that completed verdict.

During that proceeding, Senator Kevin Sparks said on September 5, 2023, that he could not discuss the case with anyone because he was a juror and a gag order had been upheld as constitutional by the Texas Supreme Court. He directed constituents seeking help with casework or another policy issue to contact his Capitol office. That was a statement about his role in that trial, not a general rule for every impeachment proceeding. Senator Pete Flores’s September 16 statement addressed the final verdict; his comments describe his view of that case, not independent legal advice.
