Streamlined Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) in FC 27 let you contribute eligible Player Items toward an Item Score target instead of building a full squad for that challenge. You can submit cards in multiple sessions, but every card submitted is permanently removed from your Club—even if you have not yet completed the target.
How a Streamlined SBC works
Open the challenge and check its target and eligible items. Select cards that qualify, then review the Item Score progress shown in the challenge before submitting. The selected cards contribute to the target; you do not need to arrange a complete squad around requirements such as chemistry or squad rating for this format. EA describes Streamlined SBCs as an alternative format for some Ultimate Team challenges in its SBC guidance and FC 27 FUT Deep Dive.

What determines Item Score
EA says a card’s Item Score is based on its OVR, rarity, and holographic status. Rarity and holographic bonuses can stack, so eligible special or holographic cards may contribute more than other cards. The actual contribution is the one displayed for that item in the challenge; do not assume a particular OVR or card type always yields a fixed score. Partial submissions and duplicates
You can submit eligible items over multiple submissions and return to the challenge later; your progress is saved. Duplicates can also be submitted to the same challenge. The main challenge reward is granted after the full requirement is met, not for an incomplete contribution.

What you give up when you submit
Submission is not a temporary hold on a card. EA states: “Any Player Item you submit is permanently removed from your Club.” This applies to partial progress as well as a completed challenge, and EA Advisors cannot restore submitted items. Before confirming, review the selected cards, the score already contributed, the amount remaining, the challenge expiry, and the reward. Avoid submitting a card you may want to keep for another squad, challenge, or use.
EA Help also describes a possible reduced untradeable reward if a partially completed challenge expires before completion, with the reward depending on the submitted Item Score. That outcome is not a general guarantee for every SBC: check the live challenge and current EA SBC guidance before relying on an expiry reward.

Streamlined SBCs versus traditional puzzle SBCs
Not every FC 27 SBC uses the Streamlined format. Traditional puzzle SBCs remain, and their requirements may involve a complete squad with a specified rating, chemistry, player quality, league, nation, or club. Read the individual challenge requirements rather than assuming that all SBCs accept Item Score contributions.

EA’s FUT Deep Dive said the format was planned for most Player and Upgrade SBCs, while more puzzle-like challenges would retain the traditional format. That is a design plan, not a promise that each challenge will stay in one category throughout the year.

Check these details before committing cards
- Identify the format: Look at the live challenge. If it asks for an Item Score target, use its eligible-item list and score display. If it specifies a squad, follow those requirements instead.
- Compare eligible cards in the UI: Review each card’s displayed Item Score contribution, including any rarity or holographic bonus. Do not infer an exact score from OVR alone.
- Check club value: Decide whether the contribution is worth permanently giving up that Player Item. There is no verified universal cheapest-card or cheapest-completion method; prices and the value of a card to your Club can differ.
- Review progress and expiry: Confirm how much Item Score remains, when the challenge ends, and what reward the live challenge says you will receive. Do not treat an incomplete submission as card storage.
- Confirm before submitting: Check the selected cards and accept only when you are ready for them to leave your Club permanently.
Platform availability is time-sensitive
EA’s launch update, dated 14 September 2026, said Streamlined SBCs would be available on console and PC at launch, with a Companion App release planned later in Season 1. That statement records EA’s rollout plan at the time; check the current app or in-game availability rather than assuming the planned release has since occurred.
