Streamers can accept crypto tips by sharing a donation-only public wallet address or QR code, or by using a crypto payment processor that provides a donation page. To show a tip in an on-stream alert, connect payment notifications to an alert tool through a secure integration; a wallet transfer does not automatically become a StreamElements or Streamlabs alert. Always name the exact asset and network, such as “USDC on Solana.”
Choose how viewers will send crypto
There are three practical setups. Pick based on whether you need a payment page, automatic notifications, and a simple path to cashing out.

For context, a secondary guide reported in September 2026 that NOWPayments listed a 1% service fee plus network fees and OxaPay listed 1.5% per donation plus withdrawal network fees. Those are time-sensitive reported prices, not independently verified here; check each provider’s current pricing and availability before choosing one.
Set up a wallet or donation page
Option 1: Share a public wallet address
- Create or select a wallet you intend to use for donations. Consider using a separate donation-only address rather than sharing an address that you use for unrelated activity.
- Copy the public receiving address for the specific asset and network you will accept. If you share a QR code, verify that it encodes the same address and network.
- Put the address and network together in your stream panels, chatbot command, or overlay. For example: “USDC on Solana.” Do not label a token without its chain if it can exist on more than one network.
- Send a small test payment from another wallet, if practical, and confirm that it arrives on the intended network before promoting the address.
A public address is meant to be shared, but transactions and balances associated with it can be visible on-chain. Never share a private key or recovery phrase. No legitimate donation setup requires viewers or helpers to know those secrets.

Option 2: Use a crypto payment processor
- Compare providers for the assets and networks you plan to accept, your country’s availability, custody arrangements, fees, withdrawal options, and current terms.
- Create a donation page or link in the provider’s service and configure the assets and networks you will accept.
- Place the link in your channel panels or other permitted channel locations. State which coins and networks are accepted so viewers know what to select.
- Review how the provider reports pending, failed, and confirmed payments. Do not treat a pending payment as a completed tip.
- Make a small test payment and check the receipt, notification, and any withdrawal or conversion steps you expect to use.
Some processors may offer payment notifications or conversion tools, but availability, fees, terms, and supported regions vary. Check the provider’s current documentation rather than assuming a feature or service is available to you.
Make crypto payments trigger a stream alert
Twitch, Kick, StreamElements, and Streamlabs are not described in the cited topic guide as offering native crypto tipping in their ordinary creator donation tools. A transfer to a wallet therefore does not automatically become a standard tip alert. A processor can provide the payment event, but the alert still needs an integration that turns a verified payment into an event your alert system can display.

- Set up a payment processor that provides payment notifications, then configure its webhook to reach a service you control.
- Verify the webhook’s signature before trusting its contents. Treat incoming webhook data as untrusted until the signature and expected fields are checked.
- Wait for the processor’s final confirmed payment status. Do not trigger an alert for a pending, failed, or unverified notification.
- After validation, use the relevant StreamElements or Streamlabs API integration to create the tip event. Check the current provider and alert-platform documentation for supported endpoints, authentication, and requirements before deployment.
- Test the full path, including a small real payment where appropriate, and confirm that duplicate or failed notifications do not create false or repeated alerts.
Protect API credentials and webhook secrets: keep them out of browser code, public repositories, stream overlays, and chat. If you cannot securely maintain a webhook/API bridge, use the processor’s own notification options or display a donation link without promising an automatic alert.
Decide where to keep the funds
Receiving crypto and safeguarding it are separate decisions. The right custody choice depends on how quickly you need to convert tips, how much responsibility you want for key security, and the size of the balance you are prepared to hold.

A hardware wallet is optional, not a prerequisite for accepting tips. It may make sense if you choose self-custody and the balance is large enough that losing it would be unacceptable. Do not buy a device just because you are starting to accept donations; first decide whether self-custody suits your needs.
Keep records and understand the tax boundary
Record each receipt with its date and time, asset, network, quantity, value in your local currency at receipt, transaction hash, and donor name when known. Keep any processor statement and records of later sales or conversions as well.

For U.S. purposes, the IRS says digital assets are property, not currency, and says digital-asset income is taxable. That is a U.S. baseline, not a worldwide rule or individual tax advice. Tax treatment of creator tips and later sales or conversions depends on jurisdiction and circumstances; check your local tax authority or consult a qualified local tax professional.

If viewers send money to you and you later donate it, do not present that as a charitable donation made through Twitch. Twitch’s Charitable Donations guidance says that money given to a streamer who later gives it to charity is not a charitable donation through Twitch and does not qualify for a tax-deductible receipt on that basis. Twitch recommends its Charity tool for eligible charities or a direct charity fundraising tool, which avoids making the creator an intermediary.

The topic guide does not identify a crypto-specific rule in Twitch or Kick policies, but that is not a guarantee that every donation link, promotion, or implementation is permitted. Review current platform terms, and apply the usual caution to scams, malicious links, gambling promotions, and paid-promotion disclosures.
Common problems and fixes
- The payment is not visible: Check the transaction’s network and destination address, then confirm whether the wallet or processor shows it as pending or confirmed. A transfer sent on an incompatible network may not arrive as expected.
- A donor asks which network to use: Give the exact coin and chain, not just a token name. Confirm the wording in your panel or link before accepting payments.
- A payment does not trigger an alert: A direct wallet transfer has no built-in alert. For a processor integration, check its notification delivery, signature verification, final payment status, and the alert API connection.
- An alert appears for a payment that did not settle: Do not trigger on an unverified or pending webhook. Require a valid signature and final confirmed status, and test failure and duplicate-event handling.
- You cannot withdraw or convert funds: Check the provider’s current country eligibility, supported assets, withdrawal network, fees, and account restrictions. Do not assume an exchange or processor is available in every jurisdiction.
