How Scholastic Book Fair eWallet Works: Setup, Checkout and Leftover Funds

An adult creates and funds a Scholastic eWallet for a student, who spends the balance at the Book Fair register. Unused money is not refundable, but Scholastic lists other ways to use or transfer it.

Scholastic Book Fair eWallet is a cashless way for an adult to set aside money for a student to spend at a school Book Fair. The adult creates and funds the account through the school’s Fair page, and the student’s balance is loaded at the register for checkout. Unused funds do not go back to the original payment card; Scholastic’s terms provide several other ways to use or move them.

How Scholastic eWallet works

An adult creates a separate eWallet for each student through the school’s Scholastic Book Fair homepage. The adult adds money and can share the eWallet link with family or friends so they can contribute. At the Fair, staff locate the student’s loaded balance at the register, and the student uses it to pay for purchases.

Scholastic says the school Fair homepage becomes available three weeks before the Fair begins. Scholastic’s family eWallet page describes the service; the current terms set its requirements and limits.

How to set up and fund an eWallet

  1. Open the school’s Scholastic Book Fair homepage and sign in to your Scholastic account, or create one.
  2. Create an eWallet for each child. Scholastic’s terms request the student’s name, grade, educator’s name, adult’s email address, and cardholder information. Student, grade, and educator details help staff find the balance at checkout; they must be reconfirmed each school year for use at an in-school Fair.
  3. Add funds using an eligible credit or debit card or Scholastic eGift Card. The terms specify a $1 minimum initial deposit, a maximum of $1,000 for a single deposit, and a maximum total eWallet value of $5,000 in one day. Scholastic may impose further daily limits. These are limits stated in Scholastic Inc.’s terms last modified July 16, 2026; check the live terms for changes.
  4. To let others contribute, share the eWallet link with family or friends. Scholastic says funded balances are available immediately.

The adult creating or funding the account must be at least 18 or the age of majority where they live, a legal resident of the United States or its territories, and have a Scholastic account. Funds are in U.S. dollars.

How the student pays at the Fair

The eWallet balance is loaded on the Fair’s register, so the student does not need to carry cash or a payment card. Staff can search for the eWallet using the student’s name, grade, or teacher. Scholastic’s host guidance says a school scan sheet can help staff find balances if the register loses internet connectivity. See Scholastic’s eWallet host guidance for register-side details.

What happens to money left after the Fair

Scholastic’s terms say deposited funds are non-refundable and generally cannot be redeemed for cash. They do not go back to the payment card. At the end of a Fair, Scholastic lists these options for remaining funds:
