In the US, a PlayStation Store digital game is generally refundable within 14 days only if its download or streaming has not started. A disc bought from another retailer follows that retailer’s return policy and applicable local law. For a boxed game sold by PlayStation Store, the US physical-item rule generally allows returns within 30 days of delivery if the item is in original condition; breaking the seal makes it ineligible for an ordinary return unless it is faulty.
These are US PlayStation Store terms, not universal rules. Check the policy for your account’s region, and identify the seller before applying a deadline.

Which refund rule applies to your PlayStation game?
Start with the purchase type and seller. PlayStation Store’s cancellation policy covers purchases made through that Store; it does not set the return terms for a disc or voucher bought elsewhere. The Store’s US policy says: “This policy does not cover refunds for purchases made outside PlayStation™Store, such as purchases of PlayStation™Store gift cards or vouchers purchased from other retailers.” PlayStation Store cancellation policy (US).

Can you refund a digital PlayStation game or add-on?
Under PlayStation’s US Store policy, you can generally request a refund for a game or add-on within 14 days of purchase if downloading or streaming has not started. Once either begins, it is generally ineligible for a change-of-mind refund unless the content is faulty. The same basic 14-day and no-download-or-stream conditions apply to digital promotional bundles, and no part of a bundle can have begun downloading or streaming. Season passes
A season pass has a 14-day request window, but downloading or streaming any included digital item generally removes eligibility unless an item is faulty. Check whether included content has started before submitting a request.
Faulty digital content
PlayStation recognizes an exception for faulty content, but that does not mean every fault automatically results in a refund. Contact PlayStation Support with the purchase and problem details; the outcome depends on the case and applicable local rights.

How do pre-order cancellations work?
The deadline depends on when you placed the pre-order relative to release. In either case, the main content must not have started downloading or streaming. Preloading counts as a download, and automatic downloads may start without a manual action. US cancellation policy.

- 14 days or less before release: You can cancel up to 14 days after payment, provided the main content has not begun downloading or streaming.
If bonus content is available immediately with a pre-order, cancelling may make that content unavailable.

What if you bought a disc?
Disc purchased from another retailer
Take the return to the seller on your receipt, not PlayStation. A retailer’s own policy and local consumer law determine whether an unopened or opened disc can be returned and by when. PlayStation Store’s digital download rule does not apply to a physical disc purchased elsewhere.
Boxed game purchased from PlayStation Store
For physical items sold through PlayStation Store, the US policy describes a return within 30 days of delivery if the item remains in original condition. It specifically excludes an ordinary refund for a boxed game whose seal has been broken, unless the game is faulty. This is a Store-specific rule, not a universal policy for PS5 or PS4 discs.

For a physical item bought from PlayStation Store that develops a fault within 30 days of delivery, the US policy says it qualifies for a full refund or replacement if available. Remedies after that period may depend on applicable local law. These terms do not establish the remedy for a disc bought elsewhere.
Can you get a refund for subscriptions or wallet funds?
Subscriptions
PlayStation’s US policy allows a request within 14 days of the initial subscription transaction, including during a free trial and after use. PlayStation may reduce the refund to account for the service used. Its regional support guidance limits the refund route to the first subscription payment, rather than recurring payments, so check the page for your account region. Turning off auto-renewal stops future charges; it does not refund payments already made.

Wallet top-ups and voucher codes
PlayStation Store wallet top-ups are non-refundable under the US policy. If you bought a PlayStation Store voucher code from another retailer, contact that seller: the Store policy does not cover the outside-Store purchase.
How to request a digital refund
- Open your PlayStation account’s Order details or Transaction History and find the purchase.
- If the transaction is eligible, select Cancel Purchase and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If that option is unavailable or the request cannot be completed, contact PlayStation Support or use its refund assistant.
- Have your Online ID, sign-in email address, and purchase name ready.
PlayStation says a refund may take 10 days. It goes to the original payment method when possible; if that method cannot be used, the amount is credited to your PlayStation wallet.
