NVIDIA’s June 2024 10-for-1 stock split gave each eligible share nine additional shares. The share count multiplied by ten and the theoretical price per share divided by ten, leaving the holding’s total value and the shareholder’s proportional ownership unchanged at the split instant. The split itself did not create a gain, change NVIDIA’s valuation, or predict future returns.
How did NVIDIA’s 10-for-1 stock split work?
NVIDIA completed the split in June 2024. For each eligible share, the company distributed nine additional shares, so the original share became ten shares in total. For example, 10 shares became 100. At the instant of the split, the theoretical per-share price adjusted to one-tenth of its pre-split level; market trading could then move the price.

NVIDIA described the purpose as making stock ownership more accessible after significant share-price appreciation. A lower nominal price for one share does not, by itself, make the company cheaper under valuation measures.
Did the split change the total value of shares or dilute ownership?
No. If a holding was worth $X immediately before the split, it was still worth approximately $X immediately after, before any market movement: ten times as many shares at one-tenth the theoretical price. A shareholder’s proportional interest in NVIDIA’s common stock also remained the same. As NVIDIA put it in its 2024 Stock Split FAQ, “The stock split will not change the total value of your shares.”

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
The larger share count alone did not dilute existing shareholders. Nor does the split explain or guarantee later share-price performance; the company’s value and market price can change for reasons unrelated to the split.
Who received the additional shares, and when?
NVIDIA said shareholders of record at market close on June 6, 2024, were entitled to nine additional shares for each share held. The additional shares were distributed after market close on June 7, and split-adjusted trading began June 10. Brokerage account posting times could vary because brokers process corporate actions on their own schedules.

Did shareholders need to take action, and what about fractional shares?
For shares held through a broker, NVIDIA said accounts would be adjusted automatically; investors did not need to submit a request to receive the split shares. NVIDIA did not issue fractional shares in connection with the split. Investors who held or traded fractional shares through a brokerage should ask that broker how its service handled or displayed the position.
If the additional shares do not appear, allow for brokerage processing and contact the broker about the account or delay. NVIDIA’s FAQ directs shareholders to their broker for account-specific issues.
