Exhibit 10 is an attachment to a one-season contract that can create a conditional path to the team’s G League affiliate or let the team convert the deal to a Two-Way contract before the regular season. A Two-Way contract directly links NBA and G League service, with NBA access limited by season-specific rules. Neither guarantees a Standard NBA Contract; conversion is a team decision.
What is an Exhibit 10 contract?
Exhibit 10 is an attachment to a one-season NBA contract, not a separate standard-roster place. Under the NBA’s 2024-25 CBA 101, its terms can give a team the right to convert the contract to a Two-Way deal before the first day of the regular season. The attachment can also provide a bonus if the player is waived, signs with the team’s G League affiliate, and serves there for 60 consecutive days.

For 2024-25, the NBA described the Exhibit 10 bonus range as $5,000 to $77,500. The maximum is tied to the salary cap, so that figure should not be treated as a current 2026-27 amount.
The Exhibit 10 route
- Sign the one-season contract with the Exhibit 10 attachment. The player may compete for a place during training camp and preseason, but the attachment does not itself guarantee a standard roster spot.
- The team chooses whether to keep, waive, or convert the player. If the team uses its contractual option, it can convert the deal to a Two-Way contract before the regular season begins.
- If waived, the player may sign with the team’s G League affiliate. Serving there for 60 consecutive days is a condition of the potential Exhibit 10 bonus under the cited 2024-25 terms.
In other words, Exhibit 10 can keep a player connected to the organization after an NBA roster cut, but the affiliate route and bonus depend on the contract conditions and the team’s decisions.

What is a Two-Way contract?
A Two-Way contract is a direct contract with an NBA team that allows the player to serve both that team and its G League affiliate. The NBA G League’s detailed rules for 2025-26 say a player spends most of the season with the affiliate and can have limited time on the NBA team’s Active List. Those rules allowed each NBA team up to three Two-Way players in addition to up to 15 Standard NBA contracts; a Two-Way contract could run for one or two seasons.
The limits, pay, and eligibility rules depend on the season. For 2025-26, the G League specified a maximum of 50 NBA Active List games per Two-Way player, prorated for midseason signings, and an aggregate 90 Under-Fifteen Game limit for teams’ Two-Way Active List appearances. It listed annual Two-Way salary at $636,435 for that season, equal to half the applicable zero-years-of-service NBA minimum, with midseason deals prorated. Do not carry these figures or rules forward as 2026-27 terms without checking that season’s rules.

The 2025-26 eligibility rules also included limits based on NBA years of service and a narrow exception for a player with four years of service who met the stated roster and no-games condition. The G League’s detailed season page is the relevant reference for applying those particular conditions: Two-Way contracts. A separate G League FAQ still has older 45-day wording, which conflicts with the detailed 2025-26 rules; the older wording should not be substituted for the season-specific 50-game limit.

Can a Two-Way contract become a standard NBA contract?
Yes. The NBA’s CBA 101 says the team has exclusive negotiating rights with its Two-Way player and may sign or convert him to a Standard NBA Contract. That is a meaningful roster step, but it is not an automatic promotion or a promise that the team will make the change.

Postseason eligibility has a separate deadline: the player must be signed or converted to a Standard NBA Contract before the start of the team’s final regular-season game. A Two-Way player may travel and practice with the NBA team during the postseason, but without that standard contract the player is not eligible for the postseason roster.

Both contract types provide a way for a team to keep or develop a player without immediately placing him on a standard NBA roster. Exhibit 10 can preserve a path to the affiliate after a waiver; Two-Way status gives the player an ongoing NBA-team relationship with defined but limited NBA availability. Neither label establishes how likely a player is to earn or retain a standard roster spot. The official rules and transaction announcements do not supply a reliable advancement rate.

Team announcements illustrate that organizations use both mechanisms, but not what a player’s odds are. In October 2025, Milwaukee announced a Two-Way deal for Alex Antetokounmpo and Exhibit 10 contracts for Johnny Davis and Jeremiah Tilmon. New Orleans announced that it converted Bryce McGowens from a Two-Way contract to a standard deal on February 20, 2026. These examples show the contract paths in practice; they do not measure how often either path leads to a standard contract.
