The launch suggested retail price and a resale price are different things. GamesRadar reported on September 23, 2026, that some recent sold eBay listings for new, sealed U.S. copies exceeded $100, with a handful reaching $170. Those are reported examples from that date—not an official price guide, a typical price for every copy, or a stable valuation. GamesRadar’s September 23, 2026 report.
What to check before buying
- Edition: Confirm whether the listing is for the standard game or the Special Edition; the latter includes collectible extras documented in Nintendo’s launch announcement.
- Format and condition: Distinguish a digital purchase from a game card, and check whether a physical copy is new or used.
- Total price and seller: Check the current checkout total, region, seller, and any sale terms. Retail pricing varies, and resale asking prices can differ from completed sales.
- What a premium buys: A higher price may reflect collectible packaging or resale demand; it does not mean the game itself is a different edition unless the listing identifies one.
Nintendo’s current U.S. page is for the digital Switch edition; its launch announcement documents physical retail availability and the Special Edition’s game card. Neither source verifies current physical stock or a present-day checkout price.
