How much free cloud storage do these providers offer?
These are the free storage amounts stated by each provider. The combined 27 GB figure is simple arithmetic from the four listed quotas, not a single shared drive or a provider-published total.

Google’s shared quota can shrink the amount left for files if Gmail or Photos already uses space. Likewise, Microsoft’s mailbox storage is not an additional OneDrive allowance. The practical amount available for new files may therefore be lower than the table’s total.

Each service keeps its own account, quota, app and sharing controls. A folder in one account does not automatically draw spare capacity from another. You would need to choose which files live where, remember which account contains them, and manage sharing separately.

That division may be workable for distinct categories—for example, documents in one service and selected photos in another—but it is not equivalent to a single 100 GB drive. Moving or sharing files across services can also add steps, and each provider’s eligibility, referral and account rules apply independently.
Can referrals or other free offers close the gap?
Dropbox’s official help page says referrals can earn additional free space. However, the verified page does not establish a guaranteed referral total that would bring this combination to 100 GB. Offers, caps and eligibility can change, so do not count prospective referral space as capacity until it appears in your account.

A 2026 TechRadar comparison identifies MEGA at 20 GB and Google Drive at 15 GB, and treats storage capacity, collaboration and security as separate factors in choosing a provider. Those are secondary review figures, not a durable promise of free space; confirm current quotas and terms with the providers before relying on them. TechRadar’s comparison.
With the four directly verified quotas, there is a 73 GB gap to the 100 GB target. The material available here does not substantiate a dependable combination of additional free tiers to fill it. Avoid basing a storage plan on a headline allowance unless you have confirmed the amount, region, account requirements, referral conditions and any inactivity rules directly.

What happens when a cloud-storage quota is full?
A full account can prevent you from adding more files, and services may restrict functions or apply account policies. For OneDrive, Microsoft says an over-quota account can become frozen after three months and that Microsoft might delete it after six months. See Microsoft Support for the provider’s terms.
- Check each account’s usage and remaining space rather than relying on the advertised starting quota.
- Leave room for files that continue to arrive, such as email attachments or phone photos where those services share storage.
- Keep another copy of important files and review provider notices about quota and account status.
Is free cloud storage a backup?
No. Cloud storage is useful for keeping selected files accessible and synced, but one cloud account is not a complete backup strategy. For important files, keep another copy that does not depend on the same account. If files are only in one cloud account and that account becomes inaccessible, full or otherwise, the cloud copy alone may not protect you.
What if you need 100 GB in one account?
If the requirement is a single 100 GB pool rather than several smaller free accounts, the verified options are paid, not free. Google One Basic provides 100 GB total shared across Google Photos, Drive and Gmail; its page displayed US$1.99 per month when accessed.
