T-Mobile announced iPhone Handoff at $5 per month. The feature lets you use one T-Mobile number across two compatible iPhones, with calls and other supported services active on whichever phone you unlock. The announced price is not confirmed as an all-in bill total: T-Mobile’s announcement does not say whether taxes or other charges apply, so check the amount with T-Mobile before enrolling.
What iPhone Handoff does
iPhone Handoff lets two compatible iPhones share one phone number. Only one iPhone is active on the network at a time. Unlock the phone you want to use, and it becomes active; Apple says a confirmation message appears after the switch. Calls, voicemail, messages, and Find My location follow the active iPhone.

This is different from Apple’s existing Handoff feature, which lets you continue app activity between Apple devices. iPhone Handoff is a carrier-supported phone-number service. Apple’s iOS 27 overview and Apple Support describe the feature and its requirements.
How much T-Mobile iPhone Handoff costs
T-Mobile’s 2026 newsroom announcement says, “T‑Mobile is introducing the feature at $5/month.” That establishes a recurring monthly price, not a guaranteed total bill amount. The announcement does not specify whether taxes, surcharges, activation charges, or partial-month billing apply. Apple also cautions that “Carrier fees might apply when enrolling in iPhone Handoff.” Confirm the billed total and any enrollment charges with T-Mobile before you sign up. T-Mobile Newsroom

Which services work on the second iPhone?
T-Mobile says the secondary iPhone can use these services on eligible plans:
- Calls and texts
- Mobile data and hotspot
- Scam Shield
- T-Satellite
Plan eligibility matters, and Apple notes that some carrier services and account controls remain available only on the main iPhone.

What you need to use Handoff
Apple’s published requirements call for both iPhones to meet these conditions:

- Run iOS 27 or later.
- Connect to Wi-Fi during setup.
- Be signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Have Messages in iCloud enabled, with FaceTime and iMessage signed in to that same account.
- Use an eSIM from a participating carrier. Apple lists T-Mobile in the United States.
T-Mobile identifies the iPhone 18 Pro lineup as ready for Handoff. Check Apple’s current compatibility information and T-Mobile’s availability before relying on a particular device or plan.

How to set up and switch between iPhones
You can enroll during setup of a new iPhone or later in Settings. Apple’s support instructions may change as iOS versions and carrier availability evolve, so follow the on-screen prompts on your devices.
- Make sure both iPhones meet Apple’s requirements and are connected to Wi-Fi.
- During new-iPhone setup, follow the Handoff enrollment prompts, or look for the option in Settings on an already configured iPhone.
- Complete carrier enrollment using the same Apple Account and messaging configuration on both phones.
- To switch which phone is active, unlock the iPhone you want to use and look for the confirmation message.
What does not switch, and what stays on the main iPhone?
Handoff does not transfer an Apple Watch pairing between iPhones. Apple recommends pairing the watch with the phone you use most often. Some carrier functions—including Call Forwarding and Caller ID—and carrier account management can be handled only on the main iPhone.

How to cancel iPhone Handoff
Apple says to contact your carrier to turn off Handoff. Ask T-Mobile to disable the service and confirm when billing stops. Deleting the eSIM by itself may not end the subscription. The published materials reviewed do not state whether cancellation is prorated or whether a partial-month charge is refunded, so ask T-Mobile about those terms when cancelling.
