There is no standard market-wide price. Public vendor pricing pages reviewed on October 3, 2026 list examples from $0.25 to $9 per 1,000 included captures, depending on volume and billing terms. In three representative offers, ScreenshotNeo Growth costs $1.00 per 1,000, Screenshot API’s metered rate is $1.00 per 1,000, and WebsiteScreenshot.io’s base package is $3.00 per 1,000. These are vendor listings, not an independent market average; the real cost depends on what each service counts and what happens when a capture fails or your quota runs out.

| Service and plan or rate | Monthly price or listed rate | Included captures | Normalized price per 1,000 | Billing and quota notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ScreenshotNeo Growth | $15/month | 15,000/month | $1.00 | Monthly subscription. Its pricing page says failed shots, bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache-served results are not counted. Request-rate and simultaneous-render limits vary by plan. See documentation. |
| ScreenshotNeo Business | $249/month | 1,000,000/month | $0.25 | Monthly subscription; same stated non-billing rule for the listed failed and cached outcomes. |
| Screenshot API, metered | $0.001 per shot | No subscription requirement stated | $1.00 | Pure metered billing. The page says successful screenshots count; server interruptions or page-load failures are non-billable. |
| Screenshot API, larger prepaid packs | From $2 for 2,000 to $80 for 100,000 | Varies by pack | As low as $0.80 | Prepaid rather than a monthly included allowance; check the selected pack’s current terms. |
| Site-Shot | $5/month | 2,000/month | $2.50 included; $0.0025 per additional capture | Monthly allowance with listed overage rate. Saved-image capacity is separate from the capture allowance. |
| ScreenURL Starter | $9/month | 1,000/month | $9.00 | Monthly subscription. Failed calls and cached responses do not count; when quota is reached, requests return HTTP 429 and the vendor says it does not automatically charge overages. |
| WebsiteScreenshot.io base package | $3/month | 1,000 credits/month | $3.00 | Monthly credits; additional credits listed at $0.003 each. API access is part of the paid package. |
These comparisons describe different products’ counting and billing systems, not interchangeable definitions of a screenshot. ScreenshotNeo’s pricing page lists a free tier of 1,000 monthly shots and paid plans from $5 for 3,000 to $249 for 1,000,000. Its listed paid-plan unit prices run from $1.67 down to $0.25 per 1,000. The page states, “Every feature on every plan, the free one included.”

A normalized rate is useful for a quick comparison, but it does not necessarily tell you what a month of production use will cost. A vendor might charge by request, successful image, credit, or included plan quota; failed attempts and cache hits may be treated differently.
#1 Best Overall
- Define the unit: decide whether you need one successful returned image, one request, one exported image, or one vendor credit. Do not assume a credit always equals a successful screenshot.
- Use your expected volume: calculate the bill at the number of captures you expect in a normal month, including excess usage where applicable. A low per-unit rate can require a larger recurring commitment.
- Separate billing models: compare subscriptions, prepaid packs, and metered billing on their own terms. Check whether unused included capacity expires and whether the service blocks requests or bills overages.
- Check failure and cache rules: determine whether bot checks, timeouts, failed loads, or cached responses consume quota. The conditions differ by service.
- Include throughput: request-rate and simultaneous-render limits can make a nominally cheaper tier unsuitable for a bursty workload.
- Account for storage: capture quota and saved-image capacity can be separate. Site-Shot lists saved-image capacity separately; deleting or retaining images can affect storage without restoring capture credits.
How to estimate your effective monthly cost
- Estimate monthly attempts and successful captures separately. Include retries, scheduled recaptures, and expected cache hits. This gives you a workload rather than just a target count of images.
- Read the vendor’s billable-result rule. Confirm exactly what counts as a shot or credit, and whether failed navigation, bot challenges, or cache-served responses count.
- Apply the pricing model to that workload. For a subscription, compare the monthly price with included quota and overage terms. For metered pricing, multiply the stated per-shot charge by the billable shots. For a prepaid pack, compare pack size and price with expected usage.
- Check operating constraints. Verify rate limits, concurrent renders, storage or retention allowances, and whether requests are rejected or charged after quota is reached.
- Confirm current terms. Vendor pages are snapshots, not guarantees that the price, quota, currency, or plan conditions will remain unchanged.
What the listed examples show
Volume can lower the arithmetic unit price
Among the listed examples, ScreenshotNeo’s Business plan works out to $0.25 per 1,000 included monthly shots, while its Growth plan works out to $1.00 per 1,000. The lower unit rate comes with a much larger monthly allowance and commitment. Compare the total monthly bill and the volume you can use, not just the normalized rate.
Failure rules change the cost of production workloads
Screenshot API says, “A screenshot is counted when a successful image has been taken,” and identifies server interruption or page-load failure as non-billable. ScreenURL likewise says failed calls and cached responses do not count. ScreenshotNeo says bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache-served results are not counted. These statements are vendor-specific; check the exact conditions for the plan you intend to use.
Rank #2
Quota, storage, and throughput are distinct constraints
A monthly capture allowance does not necessarily include unlimited saved-image capacity or the concurrency needed to finish jobs on schedule. Site-Shot separates saved-image capacity from its monthly capture allowance, while the vendors publish different request-rate and simultaneous-render limits. A plan can have an attractive price per 1,000 and still be a poor fit if it cannot handle your traffic pattern or retention needs.
ScreenshotNeo’s listed plans
ScreenshotNeo’s pricing page lists the following monthly allowances and prices. The page says yearly billing gives two months free. It also states that only clean shots are billed: bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and each response identifies the outcome with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Request-rate and simultaneous-render limits vary by plan. Confirm the current details on the ScreenshotNeo site.

ScreenshotNeo takes a website URL in one GET request and returns an image or PDF. Its capture flow accepts cookie/consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Which website screenshot API is cheapest per 1,000 captures in these listings?
ScreenshotNeo Business is the lowest normalized monthly-plan example listed here at $0.25 per 1,000 included shots, but it requires a $249 monthly plan with 1,000,000 shots. The lowest rate is not automatically the lowest-cost fit for a smaller workload.
Best Value
Do screenshot APIs charge for failed captures or cached results?
It depends on the provider and its terms. The examples differ: some exclude specified failures or cached responses, so check the billable-result rules for the exact plan.
