Plan on roughly $6 to $25 per month for a rented Satisfactory server in 2026. The lowest listed tier is $5.99 per month, while a 30-player plan reaches $24.99. Self-hosting removes the software fee—the dedicated-server software is free to install through Steam—but you pay for electricity, internet service, hardware and the time needed to maintain networking and uptime. The prices and specifications below come from 2026 vendor pages and search summaries, so confirm the current checkout price before ordering.

Rented Satisfactory server prices in 2026

Published plans show a wide enough spread to make player count the first buying decision. A small private world for a few friends does not need the same tier as a persistent 20- or 30-player community.

What self-hosting costs

The Satisfactory dedicated-server software is free to install through Steam. That does not make a self-hosted server free to operate: the computer must remain powered, your internet connection must be available, and someone must handle updates, saves, firewall rules and troubleshooting.

Electricity example

For a concrete estimate, a machine drawing about 65 watts continuously uses approximately 47 kilowatt-hours in a 30-day month (0.065 kW × 24 hours × 30 days). At $0.15 per kilowatt-hour, the electricity would be about $7 for that month. This is an illustrative calculation, not a published operating-cost measurement. Your meter reading, electricity tariff, workload and billing period will change the result.

Costs beyond the power bill

  • Hardware: If you already have a suitable desktop or small server, there may be no new purchase. Buying a dedicated machine is an upfront cost that the cited pricing pages do not quantify.
  • Internet service: The server needs a connection that can remain online while players use the world. A residential plan may also have usage limits or router restrictions; those terms vary by provider and country.
  • Administration time: You are responsible for installing updates, watching disk space, keeping backups and recovering from a crash. A rented host generally folds much of that operational work into its service.
  • Availability: A home server is unavailable when the host PC is shut down, sleeping, disconnected or being repaired. A hosted plan is priced for continuous availability, subject to the host’s own uptime.

Hardware requirements for a self-hosted server

Published guidance is not fully consistent, so treat the figures as planning targets rather than a single official specification. A second search could not reach Coffee Stain’s official documentation, leaving the official minimum unresolved.

Component Published figures and conflict Practical planning choice
RAM The Fandom dedicated-server page is reported to list 12 GB minimum and 16 GB recommended for larger saves or more than four players. IONOS lists 8 GB for one to four players and 16 GB or more for larger saves or more than four players. Plan for at least 12 GB until current official documentation confirms a different minimum; choose 16 GB for larger saves or groups above four.
Storage The wiki is reported to give 25 GB for the server. Liquid Web recommends at least 50 GB of free space. Reserve 50 GB or more so the installation, world data, logs, updates and backups have room. Keep the server on an SSD because autosaves can stall busy worlds on a slow disk.
CPU The wiki reportedly recommends a recent x86-64 processor comparable to an Intel i5-3570 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, with emphasis on single-core performance. Use a modern x86-64 CPU with strong single-thread performance. ARM and 32-bit systems are not supported by the cited guidance.
Operating system A currently supported Windows release or major Linux distribution is indicated. Windows 7 is not supported. Run a supported, fully updated Windows or Linux installation rather than an end-of-life operating system.

The RAM discrepancy matters more than a small price difference: a server that starts with 8 GB may become unstable as the save and player count grow. Memory usage also depends on the world, automation and how many people are connected at once, so leave headroom instead of sizing exactly to the smallest number.

Ports and network configuration

Port advice differs between current summaries and older hosting guides. The Fandom page states that the default port is 7777 and that both TCP and UDP are used, meaning both protocols must be allowed or forwarded. A 2026 guide reports 7777 TCP and UDP plus 8888 TCP, while Liquid Web still lists UDP 7777, 15777 and 15000. Older guides commonly mention 15000 and 15777.

Source or guidance Ports reported How to interpret it
Fandom dedicated-server page 7777 TCP and UDP Described as the default; both protocols are required.
2026 guide 7777 TCP and UDP; 8888 TCP Claims 8888 is used and calls 15000/15777 listings outdated.
Liquid Web guidance 7777, 15777 and 15000 UDP Conflicts with the 2026 guide and may reflect older conventions.

Do not open every port from every guide indiscriminately. Verify the current Coffee Stain documentation or the server build’s configuration, then create only the required firewall and router rules. The wiki guidance relayed in the cited material says ports can be changed with the launch parameters -Port= and -ReliablePort=. If you change a port, the firewall rule and the value used by connecting players must match.

How to host a Satisfactory server yourself

  1. Check the machine first. Confirm a supported Windows or Linux operating system, an x86-64 CPU, at least the RAM target you selected and 50 GB of free SSD space. Do not use Windows 7 or a 32-bit/ARM host.
  2. Install the server software. In Steam, open the Library, display the Tools category, locate the Satisfactory dedicated-server package and install it. Keep Steam and the server package updated.
  3. Prepare a persistent data location. Put world saves and server data on the SSD, and set aside separate space for backups. A backup on the same disk does not protect you from disk failure, so copy important saves to another device or location.
  4. Start once before exposing it to the internet. Launch the server, allow it to create its configuration and save directories, then stop it cleanly. This gives you a known baseline before changing networking settings.
  5. Apply the verified port settings. Use the current official port instructions for your server version. If a non-default value is required, set -Port= and, where applicable, -ReliablePort=; then allow the matching TCP or UDP traffic in the operating-system firewall and router.
  6. Test from outside the home network. Have a player on another connection attempt to join. A local test can succeed even when router forwarding or an internet-facing firewall rule is wrong.
  7. Maintain the instance. Stop it cleanly before updates, keep several dated save backups, monitor free SSD space and check logs after crashes or failed autosaves. Re-test connectivity whenever you change ports, router hardware or the operating system.

Because the published port lists conflict, the exact firewall entries should follow the documentation for the server version you install rather than a generic copy-and-paste rule from an older article.

Renting versus self-hosting

Consideration Rent a server Self-host
Upfront software cost Included in the hosting plan Dedicated-server software is free through Steam
Recurring cash cost Published examples run from $5.99 to $24.99 monthly, depending on plan and player capacity Electricity and internet; the 65-watt example works out to about $7 monthly at $0.15/kWh
Port forwarding Usually handled by the host, so you do not configure your home router Required when players must reach a server behind your router
Uptime responsibility Host operates the machine, subject to its service availability You must keep the computer, network and power running
Scaling Upgrade to a larger player or memory tier when the save grows Add RAM, storage or a faster machine yourself
Control Convenient control panel, but subject to host policies and limits Full control over files, launch parameters, updates and backups

Renting is the simpler choice when you want to avoid port forwarding, uptime management and unpredictable maintenance. Self-hosting is financially sensible when you already own a machine that stays on, meets the memory and storage targets, and you are comfortable configuring a router and firewall.

Which price should you budget?

Small private group

For a few friends, compare the lowest player-capacity plan with the cost of leaving an existing computer on. A low-priced rental can be cheaper overall if buying or upgrading hardware would be necessary; self-hosting can win when the machine and internet connection are already paid for.

Growing group or larger save

Once the world exceeds four players or becomes a large, persistent save, use the 16 GB planning target rather than the smallest RAM figure. A rental tier with a higher player limit may cost less than troubleshooting a self-hosted machine that is short on memory or disk space.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Long-term annual play

An annual offer can reduce the effective monthly rate, but compare the total prepayment with your expected play time and cancellation terms. Supercraft’s cited Plan S example is $75 for 12 months and is described as 22% off; that discount is meaningful only if you use the service for the full term.

Important price and specification caveats

  • The figures above are vendor-page or search-summary values from 2026, not guaranteed quotes. Re-check currency, tax, renewal price, discounts and included resources before paying.
  • Player limits and RAM figures are not interchangeable. A plan advertising more players may also require a larger save, faster storage or more memory than the headline tier suggests.
  • There is no verified market-wide average, so do not treat any one provider’s middle tier as the industry standard.
  • Port lists and RAM minimums conflict across current summaries. Confirm the version-specific official documentation before finalizing a self-hosted setup.
  • The electricity calculation is only an example. Measure your own system’s draw and apply your utility’s rate for a realistic annual budget.

Bottom line

A rented Satisfactory server is usually a predictable monthly expense in the high-single-digit to mid-$20 range, with the exact amount driven by player capacity. Self-hosting can cost little beyond electricity when suitable hardware is already available, but it transfers networking, backups, updates and uptime work to you. Choose the rental tier that leaves memory and player headroom, or budget at least the larger self-hosting requirements until the conflicting specifications are resolved by current official documentation.
