How Much Does a Rust Server Cost in 2026? Monthly Prices and Real Plan Examples

A small managed Rust server generally costs $10–$25 per month in 2026; around 100 slots commonly costs $30–$50, while large maps and heavily modded servers run $50 or more. Compare RAM, map size, slots, currency and billing terms before ordering.

Most managed Rust servers cost about $10–$25 per month for a small community, around $30–$50 per month for roughly 100 slots, and $50 or more for large maps, higher populations or heavy modding. A whole physical machine (bare-metal hosting) is a different price category, typically about $80–$150+ per month in one recent guide. Your actual bill depends mainly on RAM, map size, population, CPU allocation, location, currency and whether you pay monthly or commit to a longer term.

2026 Rust server prices at a glance

The figures below are practical planning ranges rather than fixed industry tariffs. Hosting prices change frequently, and promotional or long-term rates can alter the effective monthly amount.

Server type Typical monthly cost What it usually suits
Small managed server $10–$25 A private group or small community with a modest map and limited plugins
About 100 slots $30–$50 A public server with a larger map and enough memory for a regular player base
Large or heavily modded managed server $50+ High populations, larger maps or substantial plugin/mod workloads
Bare-metal machine $80–$150+ reported in a recent guide Operators who need an entire physical server and can manage the system themselves

For a first budget, allow roughly $15 for a small managed instance and about $35 for a conventional 100-slot setup. Treat those as starting points, not guarantees: two plans with the same advertised slots can have different RAM, map limits and CPU allocations.

What current provider plans actually list

Published plan examples show how the broad ranges translate into hardware and slot limits. Prices are listed monthly unless a different currency is shown.

These listings are useful comparisons, but they are not perfectly interchangeable. One company prices around map size, another around slots, and another advertises unlimited slots while differentiating by RAM. Check what each provider means by a slot, which map sizes are permitted, and whether the advertised amount is an introductory rate.

Why RAM and map size drive the bill

Slot count is visible to buyers, but memory is often the more important technical constraint. The plans above commonly pair 8–12 GB with 50–100 slots and 14–16 GB with 125–160 slots. That pattern is a pricing signal, not a universal requirement: a busy, heavily modded 50-slot server can need more resources than a lightly used server with a higher nominal slot limit.

Map size

Larger procedural maps create more world data to load and maintain. Game Server Kings, for example, moves from a 12 GB tier for maps up to 4,000 to 16 GB for 4,250–4,500 maps and 20 GB for 5,000–6,000 maps. If a host asks you to choose a map-size band rather than a slot number, that is why the tiers are structured that way.

GMKtec K12 Gaming Mini PC Oculink AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 (Upgraded 8745HS) 32GB DDR5 RAM 512GB SSD, Desktop Computer Radeon 780M Graphics, 3X M.2 2280 Storage Expansion, Dual NIC 2.5G, HDMI 2.1, USB4
  • RYZEN 7 H 255 CPU - The Ryzen 7 H 255 is a chip from the Hawk Point family and is an upgraded version of the older Ryzen 7 8745H and has 8 cores (16 threads thanks to SMT support) that run at up to 4.9 GHz, together with the powerful Radeon 780M iGPU. Unlike Zen 3, Zen 4 offers AVX512 support along with other improvements such as larger caches/registers/buffers across the board.
  • GAMING PC - The Radeon 780M (12 CUs / 768 shaders, up to 2,600 MHz) can drive multiple displays simultaneously with a resolution of up to 8K. Hardware encoding and hardware decoding of the most common video codecs (AV1, AVC, HEVC) is also no problem; playing the latest games on FSR settings without issues.
  • WHY CHOOSE DDR5 5600MHz DUAL CHANNEL (2×16GB): With a 5600MHz clock—a 17% frequency uplift over 4800MHz—this kit delivers massive bandwidth gains that elevate real-world performance. Gamers enjoy higher minimum FPS and less stutter in open-world and sim titles for a smoother competitive experience. Video editors and 3D creators benefit from faster 4K/8K timeline scrubbing, quicker renders in DaVinci Resolve and Premiere, and swifter asset loading. For AI/LLM workloads, the superior throughput reduces I/O bottlenecks, cuts token generation latency, and accelerates model fine-tuning by keeping processing cores fed with data—so you wait less and create more.
  • 32GB DDR5 RAM + 512GB SSD - The K12 mini computer is equipped with Dual 16GB (Total 32GB) SO-DIMM DDR5 5600MHz memory sticks. 512GB PCIE 4.0 SSD Drive with 3x M.2 2280 Expansion slots. Each slot capable of reading up to 8TB. (24TB MAX)
  • QUAD SCREEN 4K DISPLAY SUPPORT - K12 Mini PC support 4-screen 4K/8K output via HDMI 2.1 (8K@60Hz), DisplayPort 1.4 (4K@60Hz), and USB Type-C Transfer speed (supporting PD3.0/DP1.4/DATA). Ideal for gaming, video editing, and multitasking, it provides expansive and crisp multi-display support.

Population and plugins

More concurrent players increase activity on the server, while plugins and other modifications add their own workload. When comparing plans, use your expected peak population and mod list—not only the maximum slot number—to decide whether a 12 GB or 16 GB tier is sensible.

CPU and storage

CPU allocation affects how quickly the server processes game activity. One listed entry plan specifies 1.5 vCores, while other listings emphasize RAM instead. Storage also appears in some plans: the Game Server Kings 12 GB tier includes 20 GB of NVMe storage. Ask for the CPU allocation and storage limit when a table does not show them, because equal RAM does not mean equal performance.

Choosing a budget by community size

Private group or small community

Plan on approximately $10–$25 per month. The $13.00 12 GB example and the $14.99 50-slot example show that a small managed server can begin near the low teens. A smaller map and a realistic slot cap help keep the bill down; buying a high slot limit that your community never reaches adds cost without a practical benefit.

Public server around 100 slots

A budget of about $30–$35 per month is common among the listed examples. The GTX Gaming US listing is $33.30 for 100 slots and 12 GB. This is the clearest reference point for a conventional mid-sized server, although map size, region and promotions can move the final price.

125–160 slots or a modded server

Expect roughly $28–$52 in the examples, with the upper end associated with more memory or larger maps. PebbleHost lists 125 slots with 12 GB at $27.99 and 150 slots with 14 GB at $39.99. GTX Gaming lists 160 slots with 16 GB at $51.61. A heavily modded 100-slot server may therefore cost more than a lightly configured server with the same slot count.

Large, high-population server

Start at $50 and increase the budget as map size and memory requirements rise. The $52.00 Game Server Kings tier includes 20 GB and supports a 5,000–6,000 map band. Larger communities should also leave room for price changes rather than budgeting to the last dollar.

Managed hosting versus a bare-metal server

Managed game-server hosting

Managed hosting bundles the server environment with a control panel and provider-operated infrastructure. It is normally the simplest route: choose a plan, set a map and slot limit, install the server and let the host handle the underlying machine. The $10–$25 small-server range and $30–$50 100-slot range apply to this category.

Bare-metal rental

Bare-metal means renting an entire physical machine rather than a share of a host’s hardware. A recent guide places this at about $80–$150+ per month, depending on hardware and provider. You pay for capacity you may not use, but you gain full-machine control and avoid competing for resources with other virtual servers.

Running the server yourself

Self-hosting on equipment you own removes the managed-hosting invoice, but the hardware, electricity, network connection, maintenance and setup become your responsibility. A dedicated-server setup guide describes a 12-step process taking roughly 30 minutes; actual time depends on your operating system, familiarity and configuration. If you do not already have suitable hardware and a reliable connection, renting a managed plan is usually easier to price because its recurring cost is explicit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical way to calculate your monthly budget

  1. Set the peak slot target. Estimate the number of simultaneous players you expect during a busy period, not your total community membership.
  2. Choose a map-size target. Note the map band you want. Some hosts price directly by map size, so this step can determine the tier before slots do.
  3. Account for modifications. List the plugins or mods you intend to run and allow for a higher RAM tier if the provider’s plans jump from 12 GB to 16 GB or more.
  4. Compare the same resource level. Put plans side by side using RAM, map allowance, CPU allocation and storage, then compare slots. Do not rank a 12 GB map-based plan against an unlimited-slot plan without checking what “unlimited” includes.
  5. Normalize the billing term. Convert a discounted annual or multi-month offer to its effective monthly price, while keeping the upfront payment and renewal price visible.
  6. Check your currency listing. Use the provider page for your region and verify taxes, currency conversion and any payment fees before purchase.
  7. Verify the live checkout price. The listed figures are snapshots and can change. Confirm the recurring amount, renewal terms and upgrade prices immediately before ordering.

Price disagreements and what to do about them

Not every published roundup agrees. One comparison places a 50-slot plan from Nitrado at $35–$65 per month, substantially above the 50-slot examples listed elsewhere. Treat that as an outlier rather than proof that every 50-slot server costs that much, and verify the provider’s current pricing directly before relying on it.

Search snippets and vendor pages can also show introductory offers or stale figures. A price that looks unusually low may apply only to the first term; a long-term discount may require payment several months in advance. Use the live plan page and checkout total as the final authority.

Common budgeting mistakes

  • Buying slots instead of resources: A high slot count does not guarantee enough RAM for your map and mod set.
  • Ignoring map limits: A plan that fits your player target may still restrict the map size you want.
  • Mixing currencies: Dollar and pound listings must be compared within their billing regions.
  • Using a promotional price as a permanent price: Record the renewal amount and the discount’s duration.
  • Assuming all “unlimited” plans are equal: Check memory, CPU and map policies; slot wording alone is not a performance specification.
  • Budgeting with no upgrade margin: Population growth or additional mods can move you into the next RAM or map tier.

What to confirm before you pay

  • The recurring monthly price after any introductory period.
  • RAM, CPU allocation and storage included in the selected tier.
  • Maximum map size and whether map changes alter the price.
  • How slots are counted and whether “unlimited” has resource or policy limits.
  • The billing currency, tax treatment and long-term payment requirement.
  • The price to move to the next RAM or slot tier if your community grows.

For most communities in 2026, managed hosting is the predictable choice: allow $10–$25 for a small server, about $30–$50 for a 100-slot setup, and at least $50 for large or heavily modded deployments. Move to a bare-metal budget of roughly $80–$150+ only when you specifically need an entire physical machine and are prepared to manage it.
