Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A 24/7 YouTube bhajan stream on an India VPS has no single fixed price: the server fee is only part of the bill, and continuous video can use enough outbound data to exceed a Mumbai plan’s allowance. As a current example, AWS Lightsail’s general Linux bundles start at USD 5 per month, but AWS says Mumbai plans include half the listed transfer allowance. A 3 Mbps stream uses about 972 GB over 30 days before overhead, so check the Mumbai allowance and current overage rate before choosing a plan.
What you actually pay for
Budget for the VPS bundle, any billable outbound transfer beyond its regional allowance, and currency conversion and applicable taxes on your own bill. AWS published USD prices and transfer rules; they do not establish an individualized rupee total. Prices and allowances below were checked on 2026-10-03 and can change.

- Compute: the monthly Linux VPS bundle.
- Outbound data: a continuous stream sends data to YouTube; AWS says excess inbound transfer is not charged, while excess outbound transfer is billable.
- Other billing factors: check the selected region’s current excess-transfer rate and your payment provider’s conversion and tax treatment. Do not assume the headline allowance applies unchanged in Mumbai.
AWS Lightsail example: compare the Mumbai allowance with stream usage
AWS lists the following general Linux/Unix bundles. Its transfer documentation says Mumbai receives half the general allowance shown for other regions. The table separates AWS-published bundle specifications from the implication of that regional rule; check the actual current plan and pricing before purchase.

| General bundle listed by AWS | Listed resources and transfer | Mumbai transfer implication | What it means for a continuous feed |
|---|---|---|---|
| USD 5/month | 0.5 GB RAM, 2 vCPUs, 20 GB SSD, 1 TB transfer | Half the general allowance | A 3 Mbps feed for 30 days is already close to the regional allowance, before overhead. |
| USD 7/month | 1 GB RAM, 2 vCPUs, 40 GB SSD, 2 TB transfer | Half the general allowance | A 5 Mbps feed for 30 days is close to the resulting allowance, before overhead. |
| USD 12/month | 2 GB RAM, 2 vCPUs, 60 GB SSD, 3 TB transfer | Half the general allowance | More transfer headroom; encoding still needs an appropriate CPU workload. |
These are AWS’s published general bundle figures, not a guarantee of the final Mumbai bill. AWS documents the Mumbai reduction and billable excess outbound transfer; it does not follow that the general allowance or an unverified overage price applies to your Mumbai instance. Check AWS’s data-transfer rules and Lightsail pricing for the region and plan you select.

How much bandwidth does nonstop streaming use?
For a constant encoded stream, estimate monthly decimal gigabytes as bitrate in Mbps × 0.45 × days. This is arithmetic based on the bitrate and time, not an AWS usage statistic; it excludes protocol/container overhead and other egress.
| Constant bitrate | Estimated data over 30 days | Planning note |
|---|---|---|
| 3 Mbps | About 972 GB | Close to the implied Mumbai allowance of the general 1 TB bundle, before overhead. |
| 5 Mbps | About 1.62 TB | Close to the implied Mumbai allowance of the general 2 TB bundle, before overhead. |
Use the actual video and audio bitrate you will send, then leave headroom. YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264 at 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 14 Mbps for 1080p30. A static devotional visual may be acceptable at a lower resolution or bitrate, but assess the picture and test the stream rather than treating a lower setting as a universal recommendation. Higher bitrate increases outbound usage in direct proportion.

Choose settings and size the VPS for the real workload
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP and RTMPS ingestion, recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport, supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video and AAC or MP3 audio, and recommends constant-bitrate encoding. Its keyframe recommendation is every two seconds, with intervals not exceeding four seconds. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for its current technical table.

A looping file sent without transcoding has a different CPU requirement from video that the VPS encodes in real time. Do not select the smallest instance on the assumption that every loop is lightweight: test the actual file, encoder settings, and server, then monitor CPU and stream health. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health. A VPS alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted YouTube feed; process supervision and alerts help you detect and recover from failures.

Check rights and channel readiness before launch
Confirm that the channel is able to go live and that you have permission for every recording’s specific use in a livestream. Devotional or traditional subject matter does not by itself establish that a recording is free to stream. The available topic-specific guidance flags these checks but is not a legal determination; verify current YouTube policies and rights with the relevant owners. YouTube’s technical encoder guidance does not settle copyright or eligibility questions.

A VPS gives you control over the media pipeline, but you are responsible for configuring it, watching its resource use, and recovering the process. A managed service trades that administration for a service plan. For readers comparing ways to keep a YouTube live stream running, StreamNeo is #1: it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded video at any quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
Rank #4
StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube from its cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. Each slot includes 10 GB of storage, pooled across active slots, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account; UPI and cards are accepted in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. Plans differ by duration, not features:
- Daily $0.99 per day
- Weekly $2.99 per week
- Monthly $9.99 per month
- 6 months $49.99 for 6 months
- Yearly $89.99 a year
