How much do YouTubers make? There is no standard amount per view, subscriber, or month, and views alone do not determine income. Earnings depend on which monetization features a channel can use, eligible viewer activity, audience spending, and YouTube’s revenue allocation. YouTube does not guarantee that a creator will be paid or how much.
How YouTube income works
A YouTube channel can earn through several revenue streams, each with its own eligibility rules and calculation. Ad revenue shares are percentages of defined revenue pools—not fixed dollar amounts for each view. A channel’s total can also include viewer purchases and other monetization features. The available routes and their terms can vary by country or region and may change over time.

Ways to earn from a YouTube channel
| Income route | How it works | What YouTube says about the share or access |
|---|---|---|
| Watch-page ads | Ads can appear on qualifying long-form videos and live streams when a creator has access and enables monetization. | YouTube documents a 55% share of net watch-page ad revenue for creators under the Watch Page Monetization Module. This is not a fixed payout per view. YouTube Partner earnings overview |
| Shorts Feed ads | Shorts advertising revenue is pooled and allocated based on eligible views and other program rules. | YouTube says creators receive 45% of the revenue allocated to them from the Creator Pool. This is not a fixed rate per thousand views. YouTube Partner earnings overview |
| YouTube Premium | Eligible creators may receive revenue associated with Premium subscribers watching their content. | Feature conditions apply; YouTube does not state a universal per-view payment. YouTube Premium revenue |
| Channel memberships | Viewers make recurring payments in exchange for creator-defined perks. | YouTube documents a 70% share of net revenue for memberships under the Commerce Product Module; feature eligibility applies. YouTube Partner earnings overview |
| Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks | Viewers pay to highlight live-chat messages, use animated stickers, or show support on eligible content. | YouTube documents a 70% share of net revenue for these named fan-funding features under the Commerce Product Module. Access varies by feature and location. YouTube fan-funding features |
| YouTube Shopping | Eligible creators may feature their own merchandise and, when eligible, tag products from other brands through YouTube Shopping’s affiliate program. | Access and terms vary; do not assume every channel can participate or that a particular commission applies. YouTube Shopping |
Revenue shares describe how YouTube allocates eligible revenue. They do not predict what an individual channel will earn: the amount depends on the activity and revenue eligible under the relevant feature.

As of October 3, 2026, YouTube’s published guidance distinguishes the expanded YouTube Partner Program entry level from the higher level required for watch-page ads, Shorts ads, and YouTube Premium revenue. Meeting a threshold does not guarantee acceptance; YouTube reviews channels for policy compliance.
#1 Best Overall
| Level | Published threshold | What it provides |
|---|---|---|
| Expanded YPP entry | 500 subscribers, at least three valid public uploads in the past 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 12 months or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. | Access to certain eligible fan-funding and Shopping features, subject to additional requirements and regional availability. |
| Ad and Premium revenue eligibility | 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the past 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. | Eligibility to apply for watch-page ads, Shorts Feed ads, and YouTube Premium revenue, subject to review and applicable module terms. |
These figures are YouTube’s published requirements at the date above; some features have additional conditions, and availability depends on country or region. Check YouTube Partner Program eligibility for the current requirements. YouTube also applies channel monetization and advertiser-suitability policies. A channel can be rejected, lose monetization for violations, or lose it after extended inactivity. YouTube channel monetization policies
YouTube has announced changes scheduled to begin February 1, 2027, including higher ad and Premium entry thresholds for new creators. That is a future change, separate from the thresholds above; check YouTube’s live eligibility guidance after that date. YouTube Partner Program eligibility
Why views and subscribers do not translate into a predictable salary
- Views are not all monetized the same way. Ad eligibility and revenue allocation depend on the format, program rules, and eligible activity.
- Different features use different revenue pools. A percentage of net watch-page ad revenue cannot be directly compared with a percentage of Shorts Creator Pool revenue or fan-funding revenue.
- Some income depends on viewer spending. Memberships and fan-funding features require viewers to choose to pay; access to those features is not universal.
- Eligibility is only one part of the calculation. YouTube reviews channels, and advertiser suitability and monetization policies also matter.
Creator compensation is also uneven beyond YouTube. CreatorIQ reported that the top 10% of creators received 62% of creator payments in 2025. This is an industry-wide statistic, not a YouTube-specific income distribution or a guide to what an individual channel should expect. CreatorIQ report announcement

Estimated revenue, finalized earnings, and payment timing
YouTube Analytics shows estimated revenue, which can differ from finalized AdSense for YouTube earnings. YouTube generally adds the previous month’s finalized earnings to the AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th of the following month. Payment is generally made between the 21st and 26th if the account meets the local payment threshold and other payment requirements. Build a realistic estimate from your own channel
- Check access, not just audience size. In YouTube Studio, review the Earn section for which features your channel can use and whether it meets the relevant eligibility requirements.
- Separate formats and revenue routes. Review long-form, Shorts, Premium, and viewer-funded features separately; their revenue bases and conditions differ.
- Use finalized figures when reconciling income. Treat Analytics revenue as an estimate and compare it with finalized AdSense for YouTube earnings once they are posted.
- Do not turn a revenue-share percentage into a per-view promise. YouTube’s documented shares apply to specified revenue pools; your own eligible activity and reports are needed to understand your results.
Keep a YouTube live stream running from uploaded video
A recurring stream of prerecorded video can be one part of a channel’s programming, but it does not create a guaranteed income stream or bypass monetization rules. YouTube monetization policies still apply, including to content that is repetitive or reused. Make sure you have the rights to the video, music, and other material you stream, and check YouTube’s current policies before relying on a format for monetization.
