How Server Culling is supposed to work
Some wall hacks exploit opponent location information that the game client receives, even when the opponent is behind cover or otherwise out of sight. If the client has that information, cheat software may be able to expose it to the player.

The idea is to limit access to the information in the first place. Call of Duty’s statement, reproduced in coverage, says: “Wallhacks give cheaters information they were never meant to have. With Modern Warfare 4, we’re introducing a new way to fight back: Server Culling.” Dexerto reproduced another line from the official explanatory video: “A wall can now do more than block your view. It also prevents an opponent’s location data from reaching your game client until that opponent appears in view.”

Will wall hacks still work in Modern Warfare 4?
The announcement does not establish that wall hacks will become useless in every circumstance. It supports the narrower claim that Server Culling is designed to disrupt cheats that depend on hidden-player location data being sent to the client. It does not show that every cheat uses that data, that cheat developers cannot adapt, or that all other exploits are blocked.
As of October 3, 2026, the reporting available for the announcement did not include published measurements of Server Culling’s effect on cheating, latency, or server load. The feature’s intended mechanism should therefore be distinguished from a demonstrated reduction in cheating.
