The company also says a significant share of the model’s training data spanned more than 160 languages, including every official language of the European Union. Those are Mistral’s statements, not independently audited details of the training run.
What Mistral says about ML4’s training
In its October 6, 2026 announcement, Mistral said ML4 was “trained from scratch on 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs in Mistral’s own datacenters in Europe.” The statement identifies the hardware count, the training approach, and the company’s stated location and ownership of the datacenters. It does not provide an independent audit or further operational details about the run. Mistral: Introducing Mistral Large 4.

What is known about the languages in the training data
Mistral described “a significant share” of ML4’s training data as multilingual, spanning more than 160 languages and including every official language of the European Union. That wording matters: the company did not say that all of the training data was multilingual, or that every language appeared in equal amounts.
The announcement does not name the datasets behind the language claim. Mistral’s Help Center says, “We do not disclose the datasets used to train our models.” As a result, the public statement gives a broad language scope but not the underlying corpora or a breakdown of how much data came from each language. What the announcement does not establish
- Independent verification: The GPU count, datacenter location, and language description are claims made by Mistral; the cited announcement is not an independent verification of them.
- Dataset identities or proportions: Mistral does not disclose its training datasets, and the announcement does not provide a list of sources or language-by-language quantities.
- That every training example was multilingual: Mistral’s qualifier is “a significant share,” not all of the data.
Was ML4’s model weight release confirmed?
In the October 6 announcement, Mistral said it planned to release ML4’s weights by the end of October 2026. That was a future plan at the time of publication, not confirmation that the weights had become available. The announcement alone cannot establish their later release status.

For organizations considering where to run AI training or inference, Mistral separately describes its Compute service as European GPU infrastructure with managed Slurm and Kubernetes offerings. That product information provides context for Mistral’s infrastructure strategy, but it does not independently verify how ML4 was trained.
