How Mint Mobile’s Annual Plan and Introductory Pricing Work

Mint’s six-month anniversary offer and 12-month introductory pricing are separate deals. Compare each upfront payment with the plan-specific renewal price and checkout fees.

Mint Mobile charges for a prepaid plan in one upfront payment covering the term you select. As of October 11, 2026, Mint’s Help Center described a limited-time six-month promotion for new customers at $10 per month, or $60 upfront before taxes and fees. Separately, Mint’s 12-month plans page displayed an introductory annual price of $15 per month, or $180 upfront. These are distinct offers; the six-month promotion is not an annual plan discount.

If you’re asking, “If I purchased a plan at an introductory price, what will the cost of my plan be when I renew?”, the key is to compare the initial term with the renewal rate for the same plan and renewal length. The promotional monthly equivalent does not tell you what you will pay later—or what you will be charged today at checkout.

Mint’s prepaid terms and the two prices to compare

Mint sells service in blocks of months paid in advance. The advertised per-month figure is a way of expressing the cost across the term; it is not a monthly bill. For an offer displayed as $10 per month for six months, the service payment is $60 upfront. A $15-per-month offer on a 12-month plan page means $180 upfront. Taxes and fees are additional in both cases.

To understand what a plan costs, keep three amounts separate:

  • WHAT YOU GET: Three (3) months of unlimited talk, text, and data delivered on the nation's largest 5G network. Data speeds may slow after 50GB when network is busy but data is unlimited. Videos stream at 480p.
  • OH, YOU GET THIS TOO: 5G for Free + free mobile hotspot + Wi-Fi calling and text + free international calls to Mexico and Canada
  • HOW YOU GET IT: The SIM Kit comes with a 3-in-1 SIM card that includes standard/micro/nano sizes, insert the SIM into your device, and activate on the Mint Mobile website or app. You can activate service on your own unlocked device with our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program. Check your coverage and phone compatibility on the Mint Mobile website.
  • WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who hates their phone bill
  • WHY YOU SHOULD GET IT: Mint Mobile took what’s wrong with wireless and made it right. We re-imagined the wireless shopping experience and made it easy and online.
  • Initial-term service price: the price for the first prepaid block, which may be promotional.
  • Renewal service price: the price for the next block, which depends on the plan and the renewal term.
  • Checkout total: the amount charged after applicable taxes and fees are added to service cost.

Those amounts answer different questions. A low introductory rate can make the first block inexpensive without setting the price for subsequent blocks. And a monthly equivalent can make comparison easier, but it does not change the upfront payment requirement. If you are comparing plans, put both the upfront payment and the length of service beside each other: $60 covers six months, while $180 covers 12 months. The lower monthly equivalent alone does not show which option fits your budget or how long you want to prepay.

What the six-month anniversary promotion offers

Mint’s Help Center article, “What is Mint’s ‘10-Year Anniversary’ Promotion?”, says the offer began October 8, 2026. It is for new Mint customers and covers any six-month plan, including Unlimited, at $10 per month. The required upfront service payment is $60, before taxes and fees. Mint describes it as a limited-time offer but does not state an expiration date.

The offer applies to the initial six-month term. When that term ends, Mint says customers may renew for three, six, or 12 months. The renewal price depends on the plan and the term selected, so the $10 monthly equivalent should not be treated as a continuing rate. A customer should decide whether the renewal term is affordable before relying on the promotion as a longer-term budget estimate.

Mint’s promotion page states: “Starting October 8, 2026, new Mint customers can get any of our 6-month plans, even Unlimited, for $10/mo for a limited time ($60 upfront payment req’d).” The statement describes the six-month anniversary promotion, not the separate price shown on the 12-month plans page.

What Mint’s 12-month plans page displays

Mint’s 12-month plans page separately showed an introductory offer of $15 per month for 12 months, requiring $180 upfront before taxes and fees. Its reviewed renewal examples make clear why it is important to check the selected plan’s ongoing price rather than assume the introductory price continues. This page is a separate pricing display from the six-month anniversary promotion; the available details do not establish that a customer can combine the two offers.

Offer or plan example Initial or renewal term Service price shown Upfront service payment
10-Year Anniversary promotion Six months; new customers $10 per month for the initial term $60
12-month plans page introductory display 12 months; new-customer introductory offer $15 per month for the initial term $180
17GB plan renewal example on the 12-month page 12-month renewal $20 per month $240
Unlimited renewal example on the 12-month page 12-month renewal $30 per month $360

The $20 and $30 figures are the renewal examples shown on the reviewed 12-month plans page as of October 11, 2026. They are not a universal renewal rate for every Mint plan or term. The anniversary offer’s renewal page directs customers to Mint’s plans for current rates; check the specific plan and renewal duration you intend to buy.

The official pages do not establish whether the anniversary promotion can be combined with the 12-month introductory offer. Treat them as separate displays, and do not assume you can stack them or substitute one term for the other. The $15-per-month figure is likewise not a promise that renewal will remain at that amount: the reviewed examples show a 17GB annual renewal at $20 per month and Unlimited at $30 per month. Pricing and availability can change; confirm the offer and renewal selection shown for your account at checkout.

How to compare the first term with renewal

  1. Identify the offer and eligibility. Check whether the price is the six-month anniversary promotion or the separate 12-month introductory display. The anniversary offer is described for new customers and covers any six-month plan, including Unlimited.
  2. Write down the full initial payment. Compare $60 for the six-month promotion with $180 for the 12-month introductory display, before taxes and fees. Do not compare only $10 and $15 as if those were monthly charges.
  3. Select the plan and the likely renewal duration. Renewal options and rates vary. For the anniversary offer, Mint says customers can renew for three, six, or 12 months. On the 12-month page, the reviewed 17GB and Unlimited examples were $20 and $30 per month, respectively, for a 12-month renewal.
  4. Compare the next block’s total service cost. Multiply the displayed monthly equivalent by the renewal term to understand the service payment. For example, the reviewed $20-per-month 17GB annual renewal corresponds to $240 for 12 months; the $30-per-month Unlimited annual renewal corresponds to $360 for 12 months.
  5. Check checkout charges separately. Add the taxes and fees shown by Mint to the service price. The final checkout total, rather than a monthly equivalent or a fee estimate, is the amount to verify before purchase.

This comparison prevents two common misunderstandings: paying more upfront than expected because the reader interpreted the equivalent as a monthly bill, and budgeting for the promotional rate to continue after the first term. It also helps distinguish a lower first-term cost from the cost of staying on the same plan after the promotion. If your likely next term is 12 months, compare the initial block with the applicable 12-month renewal rather than assuming the initial offer is representative.

Taxes, fees, and the amount due

Mint states that taxes and fees are extra. Its terms list recovery fees separately from the service price. For 12-month plans, the listed recovery fees include $14 for 6GB, $14.50 for 17GB, $14.75 for 23GB, and $16.25 for Unlimited. Mint says the recovery fee combines a flat per-plan fee with an additional 2.5% of plan cost to help recover administrative fees.

These recovery-fee amounts are not the complete checkout total: other applicable taxes or charges may also apply. They should not be added to a promotional price as though they were a guaranteed final total for every customer. Review the actual checkout breakdown for the plan, location, and offer you are buying. The listed recovery fee schedule also concerns the stated 12-month plans; do not assume those exact fee amounts apply to the six-month promotion.

For example, the 17GB plan’s listed $14.50 recovery fee is separate from its $240 service price in the 12-month renewal example. That does not mean $254.50 is necessarily the final amount due: taxes or other applicable charges may change the checkout total. Use the fee schedule to understand that service price is not the whole bill, then rely on the checkout breakdown for your actual purchase.

Changing plans during the promotional term

Mint says a customer cannot keep the anniversary offer’s $10-per-month rate after changing plans during the term. If the customer moves to a higher-data plan, Mint says the change requires a prorated difference calculated against the new plan’s standard rate. In other words, the promotion’s introductory rate is not a transferable discount that automatically follows a mid-term plan change.

Before changing plans, check the applicable prorated adjustment and the price of the replacement plan. If the reason for changing is greater data use, compare that charge with the cost and timing of the next available renewal rather than assuming the promotional rate remains in place. The key pitfall is to treat the $10 promotion as a plan-wide credit that will continue unchanged after switching; Mint’s stated terms do not allow that assumption.

Buying now versus activating later

Mint says a purchased plan can be activated within 45 days. If you are buying before you are ready to switch service, use that stated window to plan your activation date. Do not assume a purchase can be held indefinitely: confirm the timing rule and the offer’s current terms before completing checkout.

Mint offers SIM and eSIM activation, and its 12-month plan page says customers can bring a compatible phone. Make sure your device and chosen activation method are suitable before buying; an attractive term price does not resolve a compatibility or setup issue. This is especially relevant if you are buying ahead of a switch: confirm that the device and activation plan are ready within the 45-day window.

What to verify before paying

  • That the offer still appears for your intended plan and that you meet its stated eligibility.
  • Whether the displayed monthly rate covers six months or 12 months, and the complete upfront service charge.
  • The renewal rate for your specific data tier and chosen renewal length.
  • The checkout breakdown, including taxes, recovery fees, and any other applicable charges.
  • Whether you will activate within Mint’s stated 45-day window.
  • The cost impact of a possible plan change during the term, especially under the anniversary promotion.

All prices and fee examples above reflect Mint’s published pages checked October 11, 2026, not a guarantee of future pricing. The anniversary promotion is explicitly limited time, and Mint does not state its end date on the cited Help Center page. Recheck the current offer and renewal choice before placing an order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will my plan renewal price be after this promotion ends?

Mint says customers on the six-month anniversary promotion may renew for three, six, or 12 months. The rate depends on the plan and term you choose. Check the current renewal price for your specific data tier before the promotion ends; the $10-per-month introductory equivalent applies to the initial six-month term, not automatically to renewal.

If I purchased a plan at an introductory price, what will the cost of my plan be when I renew?

It depends on the plan and renewal length, not just the introductory rate. On Mint’s 12-month plans page checked October 11, 2026, the 17GB plan example renewed at $20 per month, or $240 for 12 months, and Unlimited at $30 per month, or $360 for 12 months. These are examples, so confirm the current price for your selection.

Is Mint’s $10-per-month anniversary promotion an annual plan offer?

No. Mint describes it as a limited-time offer for new customers buying any six-month plan, including Unlimited, with $60 paid upfront before taxes and fees. The separate 12-month plans page displayed an introductory rate of $15 per month, or $180 upfront. The pages do not establish that the offers can be combined.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is the advertised monthly price what I pay at checkout?

No. Mint requires payment for the full prepaid term upfront, and taxes and fees are extra. Check the checkout breakdown for the amount due. Mint’s listed recovery fees are not necessarily the complete total because other applicable taxes or charges may apply.

Can I keep the anniversary promotion’s $10 rate if I change plans?

Mint says the $10-per-month rate does not remain after a mid-term plan change. Moving to a higher-data plan requires a prorated difference against the new plan’s standard rate. Confirm the adjustment before changing.

How long do I have to activate a purchased plan?

Mint says a purchased plan can be activated within 45 days. If you are buying before you are ready to switch, plan around that window and verify the current terms before checkout.

The Bottom Line

Mint’s six-month anniversary promotion and its 12-month introductory display are separate prepaid offers. Compare the full upfront service payment, the plan-specific renewal price and term, and the checkout fees—not just the monthly equivalent. As of October 11, 2026, the anniversary offer was $60 for six months for new customers, while the 12-month page showed $180 upfront and higher renewal examples for 17GB and Unlimited. Confirm current pricing and your renewal choice before buying.
